Small, self contained, clean and quiet cedar cottage with deck. Suitable for singles or a couple only. Sleeping loft, small kitchenette, shower, toilet, sink. No smoking. Wi-Fi, no TV, MP3 player/radio, a guitar to noodle on, and lots of books! The cottage is reached by pathway, and is backed by neighboring woods. Please note that the path to the cottage is sloped and the stairway to the loft is rather steep, therefore the cottage is not suited for the mobility impaired. Bedding is cotton and down. Our feline companion Belle is a regular visitor to the cottage.
People say they've had their best sleep ever in the loft! The spring water through our taps is sweet, and the ocean climate is temperate.
The essentials (coffee, tea, cream, local bread and eggs, butter, jam) for your first breakfast are provided; please take advantage of the abundant choices of local produce, cheeses, baked goods, wines and brewery for other meals.
We live on the property in a quiet neighborhood on the south part of the island, within easy walking distance of numerous beaches. This is a popular departure point for day kayaking in the Gulf Island National Marine Park reserve.
Hike in nearby (5 min drive) oceanfront Ruckle and Beaver Pt Provincial Parks, cycle, enjoy shops and restaurants in funky Fulford Harbour (10 min) and more cosmopolitan Ganges (20 min). The summer Saturday Farmer's Market is famous. Three swimming lakes are within a 10 minute drive. Minutes from Beaver Point Community Hall.
Not suited for very small children, or those who are adverse to nature! Sorry, no pets or smoking on the property.
Even on the hottest days, the ocean cools the evening air.
Best cellular coverage is with Telus.
Ferry reservations are recommended during summer months.
Sorry, no public transit nearby.
Bring some good walking shoes!
The quintessence of Salt Spring Island living is a 20 minute walk - Kizmet Galleria and Café, Thursday to Sunday, 11 - 5'ish. Closed during winter months. Highly recommended!!
Small grocery and liquor store in Fulford Harbour, closes at 6 pm.
Main amenities are in Ganges - two large grocery stores, liquor stores, health food store, gas stations. No 24 hour stores!
If you plan to arrive on island in the evening, you should bring groceries for dinner, or enjoy an island restaurant in Fulford Harbour (Rock Salt Cafe) or in Ganges (many choices).
Gas is often more expensive on Salt Spring Island. Fill up before you get on the ferry!
