Karen was so hospitable. She welcomed us with a big smile and was very informative about the "Hidden Retreat" and some key destinations nearby. The place was so cozy, and the walk through the woods near the water was exceptional. The basket of goodies that Karen left us was perfect, with eggs from her hens, local fruit, harvest bread and a whole lot more :) We slept like babies, and our kayak trip was fantastic. We even had a blast noodling around on the resident acoustic guitar. Such a clean and intimate location with great vibes. Thanks for the perfect getaway :)
Karen was very welcoming in person, and made sure we have the best stay possible. This cozy cabin has all the amenities, and was impeccably clean. She went above an beyond by providing an incredible welcome basket as well as a cute hand written note for us upon arrival. Our first trip to Salt Spring Island was so memorable, thanks to our lovely host!
Karen's cabin was a delightful space to spend the weekend. The breakfast basket she provided was full of delicious treats that made us feel special and welcome. Great bed.
Karen's Hidden Retreat was just as described - a lovely, peaceful place, all to yourself in the Salt Spring forest. Karen's surprise basket full of local treats made it all the more better. I would recommend staying here - we were tempted to remain here for the rest of our holiday! Although we've only just started our trip, I have a feeling this will be our favourite place to stay. Thank you very much Karen.
My new husband and I stayed at the hidden retreat over our honeymoon. Karen was a wonderful host. When we arrived, she brought us a basket filled with tasty treats and gave us a list of Salt Spring "must do's." The cabin was very small and cozy so we embraced simple living and enjoyed every minute of it. Karen left a guitar in the cabin for us to play, and enough kitchen utensils to make a good meal.
Unfortunately we had to cancel our stay at the very last minute due to family reasons but Karen was very understanding and we hope to be back again very soon.
About the Host, Karen
I live in a small house on the property. I work in the marine mapping world, am a dance addict, and love reading, nature, people, music and our community, and have been a resident islander for more than 35 years.
Colourful handmade signs nailed to trees on this island advise "slow". This is an approach to life here - islanders aspire to a "walking pace of life": we hope that we can share this with you.
