This beautiful room in downtown Santa Barbara is in a classic 20's Victorian home. The home is only three blocks away from the center of downtown Santa Barbara, walking distance to plenty of restaurants, shopping, bars, the beach and the wharf.

The Space

You have a private bedroom with a full size bed and private full bathroom for your use during your stay, as well as use of the common areas, including: spacious living room with comfy couches, front patio with seating and a BBQ, dining area with plenty of seating, breakfast bar, modern kitchen, a home office if you need to do some work, and access to a washer and dryer. The bedroom also has a full-length mirror, a luggage stand, and easy access to plugs for charging your electronics.

If needed, a private parking space may be made available on request. Otherwise, there is plenty of free street parking around the neighborhood.

Interaction with Guests

I lead a generally active lifestyle and am sometimes only home briefly. If our paths cross, I'd love to hear what brought you to Santa Barbara and would be more than happy to provide recommendations. In some cases, due to my work and social schedule, we may not get a chance to meet in person at all.

The Neighborhood

The lower west side of Santa Barbara (called the west side because it's west of State St, although still east of the freeway) is a great location central to everything. Walk a few blocks to the east and you're in the middle of the main thoroughfare, State St -- packed with shopping, restaurants, bars, wine tasting, historical landmarks, and more. About a mile south and you're at the beach, in between Stearns Wharf and the harbor where you'll find some great food, amazing views, and interesting sights.

Getting around

Anything can be walking distance from here, but if you'd like to bring a bike, there is space to lock it up in the back. There is also a trolley that runs the length of state street, plenty of cabs, and Uber is also available in Santa Barbara.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Ryan was super nice and his house is something special. I loved how much of the old interior and fixtures were preserved while blending in with some nice modern amenities. The location appeared to be very safe, and very quiet. I didn't bother renting a car and was able to get where I needed to on foot or by (extremely cheap) electric trolley service. It was however, a little too comfortable. My first night in, I laid down for a 20 minute nap...and didn't wake up until sometime the next morning :-) Normally I don't sleep too well when I'm not at home, but it must have just felt like home to me!

  • The listing is extremely close to the beach, mall and the main street, State St. Even though we had a car, we ended up walking to most places. Ryan was extremely accommodating and friendly.

  • Ryan, the host was pretty friendly and prompt in terms of his response time. I sent him several messages during the course of my 4-day stay and he was straightforward and prompt throughout. I didn't get to see him much because he was generally out during the day, but all in all, the experience was positive. The house is very charming, and the neighbourhood was perfect to walk/bike into downtown Santa Barbara.

  • Ryan accurately portrayed his listing. His home was very comfortable but be prepared for no closet. A big hook on the back of the door and room for my suitcase was provided and was all I needed. For 4 days I had his home by myself most of the time. He occasionally stopped by to make sure there wasn't anything I needed. Very accommodating! Unfortunately, I was not able to get my packed items out of his home as planned. He handled the inconvenience very professionally. I would enjoy staying there again.

A mere 10 minute walk to State Street (shopping, theaters, etc) where you can catch a 50 cent trolley to the beach. The neighborhood was safe and quiet, complete with a quaint neighborhood convenience store 1/2 block away. The WIFI worked well.

  • What makes this place stand out is the location. It is just a short walk into downtown. The room was just as stated and had all the necessities. The bed is a full size bed which was perfect for us. The bathroom was spacious and clean with all the amenities including a hair dryer. The parking was a bit tough on the street but I am sure you will find one. Ryan was a great host; he was there to greet us and even offered to help two girls that packed way to much up the stairs. He mostly gave us our privacy and made us feel very comfortable. This was my first airbnb experience and I can't wait to do it again!
