This beautiful room in downtown Santa Barbara is in a classic 20's Victorian home. The home is only three blocks away from the center of downtown Santa Barbara, walking distance to plenty of restaurants, shopping, bars, the beach and the wharf.
You have a private bedroom with a full size bed and private full bathroom for your use during your stay, as well as use of the common areas, including: spacious living room with comfy couches, front patio with seating and a BBQ, dining area with plenty of seating, breakfast bar, modern kitchen, a home office if you need to do some work, and access to a washer and dryer. The bedroom also has a full-length mirror, a luggage stand, and easy access to plugs for charging your electronics.
If needed, a private parking space may be made available on request. Otherwise, there is plenty of free street parking around the neighborhood, though please beware of the parking restrictions for street cleaning on Wed and Thurs mornings.
Interaction with Guests
I lead a generally active lifestyle and am sometimes only home briefly. If our paths cross, I'd love to hear what brought you to Santa Barbara and would be more than happy to provide recommendations. In some cases, due to my work and social schedule, we may not get a chance to meet in person at all.
The lower west side of Santa Barbara (called the west side because it's west of State St, although still east of the freeway) is a great location central to everything. Walk a few blocks to the east and you're in the middle of the main thoroughfare, State St -- packed with shopping, restaurants, bars, wine tasting, historical landmarks, and more. About a mile south and you're at the beach, in between Stearns Wharf and the harbor where you'll find some great food, amazing views, and interesting sights.
Anything can be walking distance from here, but if you'd like to bring a bike, there is space to lock it up in the back. There is also a trolley that runs the length of state street, plenty of cabs, and Uber is also available in Santa Barbara.
No smoking. Other than that, the only real rule I have is to treat my home with the respect you would treat your own and be conscious of my neighbors that live upstairs and next door.
Please try to be quiet during the hours of 10pm to 10am due to my neighbors sleeping schedule. Their bedroom is above the living room, so keep that in mind when in the common area and when coming/going from the home.
Ryan's place is very well located in Santa Barbara. We dropped the car in front of the porch and walked everywhere. Ryan is a very prompt and easy communicator, he made the process smooth and very flexible. the room was a tad small and not greatly isolated phonetically. There was no effort made as a welcoming gesture, but the place in itself is welcoming, and Ryan leaves ample access to the rest of the flat. Recommended!
The room was easy to access, clean and cosy. We did not meet Ryan himself, but everything went smoothly.
This was a very last minute booking, Ryan and his girlfriend made us very welcome. The accommodation is as listed, close to State Street, shops etc. We had a very comfortable stay, I wish I'd had more time to chill on the porch.
Cool spot, as described, close to State St, quiet, with a comfy bed. We met Ryan once during our two night stay and he was very nice and helped us choose an awesome spot for dinner, thank you.
Ryan's place is great! You can tell that he paid attention to details to make your stay comfortable and accommodating. We brought bikes over and were able to lock it outside of the side door where we entered/exited. The location is near the beach and downtown State St with many great restaurants so we rode our bikes all over town. I recommend this place if you are looking for a central location with a homey feel.
Bonus: we booked our stay last minute too. Ryan was flexible and quick to respond.
Never actually met Ryan! But communication was great, able to enter the home via passcode and come and go as we pleased. Room is comfy but quite small. Bathroom was clean. Location is great with easy parking.
Ryan gave us very good instructions on how to enter his place, and once we were in we found everything to be cozy and neat. We had been driving all day and were very happy to find a comfortable room and lovely bathroom to unwind in. It was just what we needed for a relaxing couple of days in Santa Barbara. Ryan's home was conveniently located close to downtown and the beach.
I've lived in SB for over 9 years and work for software startup called RightScale. I frequently enjoy beach volleyball and other sports, as well as camping and lake trips in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
