Built in 1903 and moved from downtown Santa Maria in 1981 this Frank Lloyd Wright home has been our home ever since.
You will have the 3 room apartment my husband converted for my daughter upon her return from UCSB. You enter from its own private entry, with parking. It has a lovely large bedroom with king size bed, a huge bathroom with original tub and original pedestal sink, as well as stall shower and extra closet. The mini kitchen is fully equipped, microwave, stove as well as mini frig. There is a lovely living room with comfy sitting as well as a beautiful outside porch for your relaxation and enjoyment.
We live in the midst of farm country on three and a half acres. We are less than a mile from Rancho Maria Golf Club, a public welcome 18 hole, club. A mile and a half in the other direction to old town Orcutt which is host to 5 tasting rooms and several really good restaurants including the renowned Far Western Tavern, which just relocated to their beautiful new building in Orcutt after over 60 years in Guadalupe.
Too many vineyards to name surround our area as well as the beautiful strawberry fields. We are right on old Cabrillo Hwy or Hwy One as it is known today. You can visit the Oso Flaco Dune preserve at the beach in nearby Guadalupe, a 10 min drive. A very interesting nature preserve.
The beach cities, heading north, are Pismo and Avila, and are 15 to 20 minutes away with the city of San Luis Obispo a quick 35 minutes away. Heading south you have Los Alamos, 15 minutes away and the Danish town of Solvang about 25 minutes. Terrific pastries! Los Alamos is loaded with wine tasting and art exhibitions. A great afternoon excursion.
Morro Bay and Hearst Castle will give you a terrific day of sight seeing.
Lots to do or just relax and enjoy the country.

The house is wonderful however the unit being rented didn't live up to the photos. This is one of the only places in this area so you may just deal with it. We generally stayed out more as we didnt feel like spending much time there. One of my issues was that there isn't a tv as stated in amenities.
The people are very nice so this is painful to write.
Vicky was a wonderful host. Place was adorable. Patio was great to relax on during early morning and evening. She stalked the fridge with goodies and made us cupcakes. Her dog Maggie is a sweet heart and was our watch dog for the weekend. pasion restaurant and Kay's country kitchen was great food. The presquil winery was amazing. We really enjoyed our time there.
Vickey knows hospitality. The property and private apartment are beautiful and restored with the historic charm intact. This old Frank Lloyd Wright home has quite a redemptive story, and if you have the opportunity to stay here Vickey will gladly tell you, even if it is late in the night. We stayed here for our two-year anniversary and arrived later than anticipated. Vickey was still full of enthusiasm and ready for us with homemade peanut butter cookies. She made sure we were completely comfortable and gave us plenty of snacks. The bed is so comfortable and the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom have more then enough space to accommodate two. Breakfast and all the snacks to take on the road were perfect. Maggie the giant Rottweiler is the sweetest. We had a wonderful time staying here and would most certainly do it again. Much nicer experience than a hotel or bed and breakfast.
It was a pleasure stay at Vickey's Frank Lloyd Wright house! We were in the middle of a weekend roadtrip from LA to the Bay Area, and were happy to find such a pleasant and comfortable space to rest. This was our first time using airbnb, and did not know what to expect. The house lived up to the description, with a roomy and private "apartment" which was a welcome change from hotels we stayed at the rest of the weekend. I mentioned in making the reservation that it was my wife's birthday, and when we got there Vickey had a birthday card waiting in the kitchenette. The next morning she had some delicious, homemade cupcakes with candles! We enjoyed a breakfast of fresh fruit (peaches, blueberries), oatmeal, and took the cheesesticks and water for the rest of our roadtrip. The place was very clean, the bed extremely comfy, and the location in a very quiet rural locale made it very peaceful, especially after dealing with Highway 1 traffic.
Overall it was a great stay!
Vickey was absolutely an incredible host. The home is simply lovely. We learned so much about how an old home can become such a beautiful and worthwhile time and financial investment. Vickey is a kind and generous soul, and her dog Maggie, although HUGE, is very sweet and makes you feel protected and safe at all times. The town is lovely, the home is easy to find, and if you do make it that far, you will not want to miss Presqu'ile Winery, just about 5 miles up the road off of Clark Ave. Both places are well worth the trip to Santa Maria.
