Share my big, bright, off-street suite, perfectly located in DOWNTOWN Menlo with walk-able access to CalTrain and anything else that matters, including Stanford campus and downtown Palo Alto, both connected to Menlo by convenient footbridges.

The space

If privacy and quiet are important, this is the place. On a courtyard, share with me and ONLY me — no partner, no kids, no pets, no roommates, no other guests — like having your own place, completely furnished, bright with big windows, large living-room, dining-room, kitchen with 8ft ceilings, plus your own private-bedroom (for two) and your own private full-bath, WiFi, TV and off-street parking (IMPORTANT: because Menlo does NOT allow street-parking overnight).

Guest access

Access to the entire place and, unlike some neighbors, total access to a fully stocked KITCHEN, space in the frig, freezer, shelves, etc ... just one-or-two blocks away from THREE major grocery stores.

Interaction with guests

I'm available to help with directions and recommendations, helping visitors find their way and improve their stay ... and with my own space in the back, I can be as invisible as necessary.

Free parking on premises

Bud is a knowledgeable, friendly, compassionate, and helpful guy. The place could use an upgrade and/or good cleaning. Location is great! I Price is reasonable.

We had an unusual visit due to a significant nighttime noise issue through NO fault of the owner. As later determined, a neighboring apartment unit owner got a new dog or puppy and then left it alone in their unit overnight. The dog howled, whined, and screamed the entire night, and closing our window did not help. Bud did contact the police around 2 a.m. and later the next day the property landlord, but by that time we had decided to vacate and not spend another (uncertain, sleepless) night. In fairness to Bud, he handled the situation as best he could and he graciously gave us a refund for our stay. Apart from the noise issue, the carpet throughout this unit was old and dirty. Bud apologized for this condition as soon as we arrived, explaining he had lived there for 14+ years and the landlord had offered to replace the carpets, but only if the Bud moved his belongings to other rooms so new carpet could be installed, which Bud told us he was unwilling to do. Overall, the unit could use a good cleaning. As was mentioned in another review, the photos in the listing seem outdated from our recent visit - the living room has been rearranged, and the bathroom shown was not the one we used (tub and toilet were not in a room separate from sink, as depicted in the photo). Bedroom photos are accurate. Bud was present at the apartment during our stay, primarily occupying the living room and kitchen areas. He was helpful in providing travel and dining recommendations. As indicated in the listing, Bud did provide off-street parking, which was helpful since we had a rental car and street parking is generally not permitted. Although it did not affect us, getting to the unit requires walking up 10 outside steps. Bud advised us of this after we booked the unit; it would seem better to disclose this in the original listing, since Bud thought it could be an issue and so that people are aware of this before booking.

Response from Bud:
Scott's last message to me, "Thank you for the $242 refund", should have appeared in the first sentence of his bloated review. A refund was contrary to the policy clearly stated in my listing, technically not obligatory, but nevertheless generous on my part because of sympathy I felt for him having to endure that which I and all my neighbors dealt with that really bad night.

Bud is very welcoming and gave me a lot of suggestions on how to get there in the most efficient way. He notified me when he will be out and back before I got there. The place is clean and close to grocery stores.

Bud is very kind and helpful. He provides parking in an area where it's hard to find. This is a small, cluttered bachelor apartment. It could use a thorough cleaning.
