What a wonderful place to escape the city! The adventure begins when Chiquitin meets you at the entrance to the park in a four wheel drive vehicle. You cross a river and through a bit of the park to get to his place. The cabin is very comfortable and well equipped. The first morning we left at 6am to walk to the sand dunes. We didn't see another person or vehicle. But we did see: a monkey, fox and many birds including the Greater Rhea (similar to Ostrich), burrowing owls and lots of toucanillos. Chiquitin lent us bird books to help us identify the many birds. We also enjoyed the chorus of insect sounds in the evenings. The cabin is very isolated but if you enjoy nature you will enjoy a stay with Chiquitin!
Chiquitin and Eveline made me feel very welcome.
They took care of me like their own family and gave me the privacy I needed.
The lodge and the sand dunes are the best place to relax and leave all your stress behind.
Evenline is an amazing cook and I advise everyone to enjoy her meals!
My experience at Chiquitin's home was nothing short of incredible. He was very communicative from the beginning and the most gracious/attentive host I've ever met. I was the first solo traveler Chiquitin had hosted, and I could tell this was new territory. However, he and Evelyn could not have handled it better. As soon as I arrived, he drove me and Evelyn's two beautiful, sweet children to the sand dunes where we went on a walk and got to know each other. He is very easy to talk to but also gave me the perfect amount of privacy. The property (including the private guest house and small tree house for bird watching) is gorgeous and Evelyn's food is out of this world! The best Bolivian food I've had to date! Oh, did I mention the animals??? 6 cats, 5 dogs... and they're all the sweetest. Two nights were spending drifting off in a hammock with a cat curled up while sleeping in my lap. It was heaven. Gracias, Chiquitin, for your hospitality. I hope we cross paths again soon.
My partner and I recently enjoyed two lovely days at Chiquitín's lodge, escaping from our busy travels for some relaxing. Chiquitín is a great host and very hospitable, communication right from the start was excellent, arranging a taxi for us, taking us to see the dunes and explaining the area to us. His housekeeper Evelyn is lovely too and makes such nice food. You are definitely not left hungry at any stage. Her husband and two children are very sweet as well and polite. The lodge is a lovely place to explore the surrounding walks at the dunes and relax on the hammock reading. Chiquitín's lodge is extremely comfortable with plenty of space and friendly animals. The hand picked flowers from the garden were a lovely touch also. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely not hesitate to recommend it to others.
the lodge is beautiful and it's a perfect spot to start exploring Boivia natural parks.
Chiquitin will give you all the info you need and will explain you something more about this country.
After enjoying some great Evelyn's dinner you'll spend a pleasant evening talking to Chiquitin.
He's a precious host indeed.
We had a really cool, relaxed time at Lomas de Arena park. Chiquitín was a fantastic host, he built the house himself, he's easy to talk with and welcoming, and Evelin's food was delicious, home cooked and very healthy! We spent a morning in the sand dunes and a very lazy afternoon reading and relaxing on the hammock (there's a great book collection) A few notes for my fellow travellers... The house is out of the way, don't expect to pop into Santa Cruz for a day or an afternoon. This also means that there's not any other food or activity options, and the food is delicious but not cheap by Bolivian standards. Overall I would definitely recommend this place for a short relaxing stay, 5 stars, thank you :)
I grew up Santa Cruz de la Sierra, studied in Brasil and Germany and went back to Bolivia to work as mechanical engineer. Now I am retired and live surrounded by nature, enjoying my pets (dogs, cats), good reading and the peace of the countryside. I speek spanish, german and portuguese, and understand litle french and italian and would Iove to get in contact with people from other countries. I would like to be your host to share with you my passion, which is living peacefully in the countryside, surrounded by an exuberant and beautiful flora and fauna.
