The Space

Just a 10 minute walk to the MacArthur BART station (our public transportation/ train to San Francisco/ Airport/ etc) This fully renovated RV has had a lot of love put into it. Inside is a custom bed that will fit two people, plenty of electricity powered by solar panels, sink, storage space, propane(LPG) thermostat controlled heater(for the occasional colder night) fan, for the warmer nights, and is located in a private back yard that you will have access to through both the gate and the house. Our neighbor and her dog visit the back yard occasionally. Both neighbor and her dog are sweet and easy going. There is parking on the street. We know our neighbors and live on a street that is pretty mellow for being in the city next to the freeway. The back yard is our sanctuary (this is where the RV is and where you will travel to and from the house through the back door) We have a chicken coop and run with 6 chickens, a flower garden, and a vegetable garden. There are places to sit and relax in the sun or the shade. We love it back there and sure you will too. Feel free to snack on some veggies.

Guest Access

Guests will have 24 hour access to the house. Feel free to make yourself at home in our kitchen. Put food in the fridge, cook, use the dishes and cooking tools and eat at at our table. If you need (email hidden) oil or salt or stuff like that to spice up your food, please don't be shy. Most stuff is easy to find in the kitchen but if you don't see something please ask. Please be responsible for doing your own dishes.
In the bathroom there is a shower for you to use and if you look up, you will see shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that says "For Guest Use" on it. Please feel free to use these, you will find clean towels and wash cloths in the RV. You can hang towels in the bathroom to dry, many guest choose to hang them up on the clothes line in the back yard. In the mornings, please be considerate of how much time you are spending in the bathroom, especially on weekends when the house is more likely to have everyone home. There is only one bathroom and we all share it. Nobody likes having to hold it for a half hour while someone takes a super long shower/etc first thing in the morning. This is for guests and tenants alike.
We have a washer for you to use. Please ask about the special instruction needed to use this old washer, also we close line dry all our clothes but there is a laundromat within walking distance too.
Please make your self at home.

Interaction with Guests

Join us in conversation when you are visiting, we tend to congregate in the kitchen and make food, have coffee, to sit at the table to talk. If you see us in the kitchen hanging out don't be shy, we would love for you to be part of the conversation. We are friendly, polite, positive, lovely people. That said we are also very respectful of peoples privacy and don't feel uncomfortable around quiet people or people who just mind their own business for whatever reason. We don't feel there is any social obligations while staying here , (outside of communicating things regarding your stay of course, like check in/out time/problems questions/concerns/etc)

  • The RV is just awesome. But Kelly and David are the best part of the experience. They are such welcoming, friendly people. It felt like coming home when we arrived (email hidden) in the evening. We couldn't have (email hidden) to stay!

  • I wish we could leave a 10,000 star rating. My bf and I stayed in the RV for a week while we looked for work and permanent housing in the East Bay, and we were so lucky to land with this pair. David and Kelly went above and beyond our expectations, and we can't recommend them highly enough!

  • David is an excellent host - flexible, thoughtful - and a genuine, down to earth individual. We stayed here before, about a year ago, so we knew what to expect based on our past experience of staying in the private RV. It's a colorful, unique place and home that reflects David's awesome personality. The RV has running water and electricity; it is powered by solar energy (very resourceful). The backyard garden is beautiful and flourishing. David is an active, busy guy; we're both quite active ourselves, so it was really nice engaging with David near the end of our 2-day stay. I recommend this air bnb to anyone looking for a comfortable and cozy home away from home. A rare gem in the bay area.

  • This was my first Air BnB experience, and a big thanks to David and Kelly for making it such a memorable one. They were excellent hosts, and the camper was very nice and cozy with a lot of little personal touches that made it very homey and comfortable for the week I was there.

  • David was a really good host, always willing to help us and give us advice! The RV was super lovely!

  • David's RV was definitely super cute, very comfortable (email hidden) to stay. David's house is situated in a convenient location, 10 mins from the BART. He was an excellent host, great communication, really friendly and interesting and very hospitable. We had a lovely time, and would highly recommend staying here. Thanks to David and his housemates for being so generous and welcoming!

  • David is a really nice guy - really interesting to talk to and hear some of his stories.
He's done a lot of work on the RV - there are several power strips, cool decorations, and a comfortable bed. It was convenient to use the bathroom, shower, and kitchen in the house. Also, the house (email hidden) to learn about sustainable / eco-friendly living. David has some cool roomates with whom he built raised-bed gardens, a chicken coop that now houses a handful of egg-laying hens, a composting system, etc. I would definitely recommend this as a good / cheap place to crash, and as a perfect way to learn about and try off-the-grid living while still having the option of plugging in (there's wifi and power in the RV)

  • Not only is this rv super cute and cozy, it also kept us dry and warm when four days of rain fell on us. Thank you!

  • Wonderful friendly folks who are incredibly interesting and hospitable. We felt totally comfortable in this unique setting. Despite the small size we found it calming and inspiring

I am an easy going person who lives with my sweetie Kelly and housemate Jim. We are all likable people with a laid back attitude. Kelly and I lived in this RV for 3 months recently on a road trip along the west coast, hiking and camping, and both love the space. We are very capable people who explore, and enjoy life as much as possible. We also love our new home here in Oakland. Our neighbors are super nice, and we are located close to everything. We are all bicyclists and find its easy to get around without a car here, by bike, and by the BART.
