Escape to our tiny forest cabin, nestled deep in the grounds of a 21 acre historic blue stone quarry, for an immersive experience in nature during both the day and night. Only 7 min from Downtown Woodstock and 12 min from the Village of Saugerties, The Whitetail offers a magical stay in the woods, while also in close proximity to restaurants, shopping and local events.

The space
During the day, relax at the cabin or explore the property, which consists of gravel roads, a three acre pond, cliffs, rugged stone formations, game trails, a natural spring and an outstanding view of Overlook Mountain. By night, the cabin comes alive when our extensive landscaping lighting turns on at dusk, which can be seen from the comforts of inside or enjoyed outside around the fire pit.

The cabin has a main floor and a loft. The loft is a bedroom with a king bed. Directly across the bed is a clerestory window that provides a view of oak tree branches, which light up at night. This bedroom can be seen from the main floor - there is no privacy. The main floor consists of an open concept livingroom/kitchen, a bathroom, and a small guest bedroom with a queen bed. The exterior includes a deck and gravel fire pit area that is lit up at night.

**Please note that during the colder seasons the cabin floor gets very cold, especially the bathroom floor. We recommend bringing slippers or cozy socks.**

**Please also note that you most likely will come across wildlife while staying at the cabin - from insects to black bears. Most commonly seen are whitetail deer, groundhogs, turkeys, spiders and stink bugs, but we have seen snakes, frogs, turtles, fisher cats (rare), raccoons (rare), and porcupines (rare). At night, coyotes can sometimes be heard, as well as owls. While we do our best to keep the cabin insect free it is deep in the woods. So please take this into consideration if you choose to stay here!

Other things to note
The Whitetail Cabin is a labor of love. When we originally purchased the cabin it was in rough shape. We renovated most of it ourselves and moved in full time during he pandemic until 2023. We documented our journey on IG (@The_Whitetail_Cabin).
