Interaction with Guests
Most of the time I am here to great my guests. Often I am around working in the garden and the yard. When I am around I am happy to help you in anyway I can. Sometimes I am out on my own adventures :)
If I am gone, there is a lock box that is easy to find and you will receive the code and all the instructions for the property in an email and more helpful information will be on the kitchen table when you check in.
My neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. With the river being right here this area is full of wildlife. I have seen elk, deer, cougars, coyotes, wolves, eagles, river otters, beavers, ducks, geese, blue herrings, and more. It's very peaceful and private.
There is lots of parking on the property, behind a 6ft privacy fence and gate.
Other Things to Note
If you want natural beauty, peace, privacy and quiet solitude, but you also want to be close to activity, grocery stores and events this is the very best place for the price in the area. There is lots of Sunshine here and you can see out to the river and meadow below.
There is a tame little black bunny named "Boo" that runs free around the yard. She will run right up to you. If you are bringing a dog, they need to be on a leash in the yard so the bunny is safe.
If you have children they must be well behaved, we call it River Song Sanctuary and Retreat for a reason and pride ourselves on keeping it that way for our other guests.
Keep the main gate that you drive through closed for privacy and safety. Please make sure that you don't leave on outside lights except to come and go (star gazing is much better this way). There are lots of motion sensor lights to light your way and solar lights around the yard.
Please recycle! You will find bins and a trash can at the North end of the house. Composting is also appreciated and containers are provided for this under the kitchen sink.
Absolutely No smoking permitted inside or outside anywhere on the property!

From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Lori's home was a unique and beautiful place to stay when visiting Bend. It's a bit outside of the city and feels like you're out in the woods. The view from the deck was amazing and the property had everything we could have asked for. Lori herself was pleasant to deal with, very welcoming and easy to communicate with regarding the details of our reservation. Would definitely stay here again!
Lori's place is in a fabulous location by the river with all the toys. The kitchen, dining and living areas worked really well for our group of 6. Lori's art and artistic touches grace every corner and make for a very welcoming home. The outside spaces are also wonderful. We did have to put 2 of the 3 mattresses on the floor (one saggy, the other squeaky and mushy), and the water had a sulfur smell, but Lori is now aware of both of these problems and how to fix them. We had a lovely week!
This place was heaven on earth. The photos do not do it justice. Such a lovely location and close to Bend and sunriver. We stayed three nights and wish it could have been more.
The dock is a lovely place to hang out and enjoy the views.
It was perfect for our travel group of four adults and two children. We didn't get a chance to float the river but definitely when we come back we will!!
Our trip was spent away from the cabin most of the time as we wanted to see the sights around Bend...but this is a place I could plan on visiting and just hang out around the property to destress and unwind. What a wonderful little slice of heaven. Thank you so much Lori for opening up your home!!
When we come back to Bend this will be the first place we try and book!!
Lori's compound was a delightful place to spend a weekend visiting with family in Sunriver. My family and I rented the downstairs portion of the huge main house. The living room was a great place to hang out in as it is a completely open space and has views of the meadow, river, and bunny playing out front. There were lots of interesting details in the house that you will have to see to appreciate. We particularly enjoyed the river amenities (canoe and raft) and the outdoor patios for lounging. Lori was a great host and we recommend her highly.
We stayed here in mid-August for two nights and had the spacious downstairs suite. The house is not directly on the Deschutes river but there is a beautiful view across wetlands of the river. The deck is a real plus and we made use of the grill for our evening meals. Another fun activity was taking the canoe and kayak out for a spin on the river. Lori was there to meet us and when I called her later with a question, she promptly replied with the info we needed. She seems like a conscientious and caring host. Sunriver is close by but I appreciated being outside the resort neighborhoods.
The name of Lori's place says it all. My family spent an extended weekend in the lower unit of the River Song Sanctuary. The place was very roomy, well appointed with thoughtful attention to detail throughout. What a wonderful location to get away from the chaos we saw in nearby Sunriver.
Lori was very welcoming and made us feel comfortable staying in her home. I'm looking forward to another opportunity to come back.
Staying with Lori was one of the highlights of our trip. Her beautiful house is right next to the river in a quiet and peaceful spot. The accommodation is very spacious, very clean and comfortable with all mod cons but what makes this place unique is that Lori has furnished with great style and decorated it beautifully using some of her own paintings. (She is a successful artist with a gallery in Sisters, check it out). Lori is a kind and thoughtful host, providing us with endless tourist information and lending us her inflatable raft and kayak to float down the river, (great fun). It's a wonderful spot for bird watching, fishing or just sitting out on the veranda and watching the river float by. Because of its secluded nature and the way Lori runs it (a tame rabbit, two ducks, a veg garden, bird feeders and when we were there a beautiful teepee in the making) the place has a wonderfully serene quality. We hope to come back some day.
