The Space

Welcome to Yester-Year!
In 1893 (that is not a typo...lol) Yester-year took form. Located in the Heart of the Russian River Wine Country Yester-Year offers a taste of history...and glimpse into the past.

Within a 6 minute walk you will come to a (email hidden)ink of Sherwood Forrest...this beautiful path meanders through the redwoods and ferns and ends at a Pristine beach at the Russian River...This beach is only for local residents and is a Russian River HIDDEN Treasure!

This historic house has all the charm of the late 1800's including a huge wrap around sun porch, a large kitchen for family game nights, a beautiful old, stone fireplace all surrounded by lush redwoods and ferns.

Lounging in the sunroom is like sitting in a time machine...open the French doors and multitude of windows, grab a long, tall glass of lemonade and be transported back to a simpler time a place...

Along with the old we have just the right amount of new.... A flat screen TV, WiFi and newly refurbished bathroom bring us back into the 21st century...lol..

Homey and comfortable from the moment you walk through the door, you will find a quiet master bedroom with a queen bed, a wonderful sleeping area on the Sun porch with a King bed, and another sleeping area at the opposite end of the sun porch with a double futon.

The living room is great for catching-up after a day at the river, wineries, Armstrong Woods or the Pacific Ocean. Light a fire and enjoy time spent with your very favorite 6 people!

Did we mention the Private beach on the Russian River is a short 5 minute walk from Yester-Year!

Yester-Year also has a large deck and large yard with a hammock for those lazy river days. Grab a book and hit the hammock!

With your rental we will also include a couple of Movie Passes to the near-by Rio Theater in Monte Rio. This Historic /Landmark theater was just recently saved through donations from the entire community and Zach Braff ("Garden State" Actor/Director!)

Friendly reminder 6 (4 adults and 2 kids)
is the max day or night in our sweet get-away. If you will have more people visiting during your stay please let us know.

  • We enjoyed a great long weekend at Yesteryear. Stace provided prompt responses and detailed directions to the location prior to arriving. The property was larger than we had anticipated. With 3 different sleeping accommodations. Would be a great property for a larger family. The cottage itself was very clean and homey. We selected the location as it was noted that there was a beach nearby. We had a hard time getting to this area due to overgrown brush but were just a quick drive or bike ride to the water otherwise. As others noted, Yesteryear is close to other homes and properties. You are not completely secluded which wasn't a problem for us. Wished we could have stayed for another few days!

    Hi Alicia.
I am sorry. I had left directions to the beach in the cottage and someone removed them The path to the beach is huge and well maintained...I will put directions back into the cottage immediately. I am really glad you had a good stay. You were a wonderful guest and we look forward to your next visit!
    thx,

  • Our stay was lovely. The house does have a few creaks and groans since it's older, but we thought it was very charming and it suited our stay. The living and sleeping areas are spacious, wifi worked great, and the short walk through the neighborhood to the little river beach was lovely. I did naively expect that it would feel a bit more secluded than it was (the house itself); the neighboring houses are fairly close, but it was quiet and we only saw a few other people.

Overall though, I would definitely recommend a stay here. It was a lovely little place, very comfy, and in a great location in a little neighborhood close to the an area of the river that feels totally private and secluded.

  • The four of us (plus one dog and one baby!) spent a wonderful stay at yesteryear. The house is full of character (we particularly loved the big kitchen / dinning room and the cozy living room with a big fireplace). And is set in the midst of spectacular redwoods. The river and its sandy beach is just a few minutes walk away and is a magical little spot - a real insider secret of locals so we felt really privileged to spend so much time there. The owner lives next door and was very welcoming giving us extra wood and cheery hellos. Stacey and the rest of the team were great even running us down an iron when we realised we needed one to get ready for a wedding. For a chilled rustic break on russian river with lots of swims this is place is perfect!

  • We loved staying at YesterYear. The house is charming and equipped with everything one might need. We especially enjoyed the nice deck and high quality grill. Having a fireplace was a great added bonus on a chilly summer night and so were the board games and puzzles. Being walking distance to a private beach really made the difference during our stay. Who wants to drive on vacation?
