The Space

This cozy, rustic hide away in the redwoods has just been completely remodeled with all the comforts of home.

This house is perfect for a couple on a weekend, romantic getaway. However, the open floor plan is also ideal for family or 2 couples on a budget - as the couch in the seating area open up to accommodate an 2 people (full size bed).

You would not guess this little house has a large walk in shower. The full kitchen has an oven and range top and is well a microwave and is stocked with every thing you need for cooking in. Sit on the wrap around deck and enjoy a bottle of wine you purchased at one of the many tasting rooms in the area. Or toast to that well deserved vacation with a special bottle of Champagne from Korbel Winery - which is just a 10 minute drive.

The neighborhood is nestled in the redwoods. Canyon 7 Road winds thru the the lush canopy and you realize you are not in The City any more. There is off street parking for one car, guest can park safely on the street.

You are just a 5 minute walk to a variety of fun destinations: Swimming/Boating on the Russian River, playing Marco (email hidden) Nido Pool, a round of Pee Wee Golf, (email hidden) Nido Roadhouse .

Driving to Rio Nido is just 1 hour 40 mins, 74 mi from San Francisco.
You can also take Golden Gate Transit from San Francisco and connect in Santa Rosa on Sonoma County Transit to Rio Nido

The air is fresh and you are surrounded by redwoods at every turn.

  • This was the perfect location for our anniversary trip to Sonoma County. We rented bikes and cycled to dinner in downtown Guerneville each night, and we also cycled to and from the Armstrong Redwood Reserve and to the wineries. The unit was clean and well-lit; the bed was very comfy and cozy; and you cannot beat the view/nature just outside!

  • Great location, near Guerneville, Russian river wineries, etc. Johnny handled everything very professionally and nicely. Upon arrival, the cabin was clean and tidy, had a full set of everything (towels, sheets, kitchenware, etc.) so we did not have to worry about bringing our own. The cabin is great for a summer weekend getaway, especially with the deck and grill right outside. However, it's not very large, so I would not recommend it for more than one couple.

  • We rented the Russian River Hide Away and was a perfect setting for family members. Husband, Wife and two children. The occasion was a wedding at the Roadhouse and they could walk to and from the venue. The Hide Away was comfortable for all four. They could not believe the setting and loved the space. We would rent this space again. Beautiful

  • This is the second time that I’ve rented Johnny’s place for a month. Not much more to say. Still a charming, convenient and peaceful place to hole up for a while and get some work done. As always, the place is stocked with everything you might need. Has a great waterfall shower, nice kitchen, outdoor gas grill and the road house is stumble distance away.

  • I needed a place to stay for a month and a week while I looked for more permanent lodging in Sebastopol ( a highly sought after town to live in). Johnny made it easy for me book the Hide Away in Rio Nido for the time I needed and he checked in with me periodically to see how I was doing and wether or not I needed anything. I was initially disappointed by The Hide Away when I discovered that it is in fact a duplex and not an entire place/apt as listed. So it took some getting used to once I had neighbors on the other side of a not so thick wall. That was the only major cramp in my style that I felt challenged by and as I got more and more used to being in a duplex temporarily I found that the Hide Away met my needs and all in all it was a comfortable and productive stay/experience. I particularly appreciated the Hide Aways proximity to Armstrong Woods which I found particularly soothing when I needed a peaceful and quiet walk among the Redwoods.

  • This is a gem. It's about a 5 minute drive to Guerneville, and super close to the river. My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet weekend getaway, and we found it. This kitchen is loaded, too! Lots of spices and cooking tools. We even used the electric hand mixer! We used the BBQ every night. Finding Rio Nido was very easy, and Johnny made sure to check in to see that we arrived OK, which I really appreciated.

I would totally recommend this as a place to stay. It's easy and beautiful, nestled right in the woods. Plus there (email hidden) within walking distance if you're into that. :)

  • The Rio Nido cabin was wonderful. The kitchen was very well stocked, which was great for our Thanskgiving. The location is amazing with red woods everywhere. The Rio Nido bar was amazing and exploring the river was delightful. Our hosts made everything easy and we will absolutely be returning!

  • Johnny was a great host. The place was clean & tidy and the location is great. We had a blast hiking, wine tasting, and dancing at the Rio Nido Roadhouse! It was a fantastic place to come home to.

  • Could not have been better! The unit was very clean and just as described in the listing. We had everything we needed including (most importantly) coffee! We were very happy with our stay and would use this place again in a heartbeat. One side note is it's very hard to find after dark as your GPS does not take you right to the front door of the unit.

I am originally from North Carolina (yes, i still have my 'southern' accent even after 27 years living in San Francisco. I am fine art and commercial photographer ((website hidden)), and I have founded and run several 3 galleries in San Francisco ((website hidden)) and produced many art events to raise money for non-profits. I am also an artist coach and still maintain my connections to sell art by local artists. I love traveling when time and finances permit. I've been to Egypt, Turkey, London, Paris, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Hawaii of course if you live on the west coast ! I want to go to Asia or Peru next..... I must have my coffee first thing in the morning and have been known to get coffee across the that I can meet a friend for coffee later. I will eat pretty much anything unless it is really hot and spicy. I love red wine, wine tastings.....and who doesnt like margaritas. However, martini's at "The Top of the Mark" is what you drink there.
