Mas Lou souvadou, Avignon-Provence

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Rue du Change, Sauveterre, Languedoc 30150, France

The Space

Near the city but without the noise, 10 minutes from Avignon and 20 minutes from “Pont du Gard” away, in the heart of Provence the “Lou Souvadou” is a small piece of heaven for those who stay there.

Sauveterre is a charming, provencal village far from the city noise. You stay in an old Provencal farmhouse equipped with all modern conveniences, a beautiful pool and a stunning view over the Rhone Valley, “Mount Ventoux” and the “Dentelles de Montmirail”.

This B&B offers 2 individual rooms with private bathrooms, plus a small room without bathroom for children (wc to share), and also a 4* reception by Françoise and Michel.

You’ll perfectly be situated to visit the vineyards of the Rhone Valley and the famous wineries of Châteauneuf du Pape or Tavel. The summer shows of the “Avignon Festival” and “Orange’s Choregies” are close too. You’ll be able to admire the wonderful sites of the “Baux de Provence”, Saint Rémy de Provence, Arles, Nîmes, the Luberon villages, etc… But also to visit the picturesque markets or just relax in the sun besides the pool sipping a cocktail or glass of vine while preparing the itineraries with our hotes.

You’ll have the pleasure of enjoying your copious breakfast while listening to the cicadas in summer and breathing in the exceptional perfumes of the flowers in the garden.

The area is well served by the T.G.V. (in Avignon) or by the airports (Marseille, Nîmes, Avignon, Montpellier,…) Of course it helps to have a car (Rental at the airport and train stations).

The only concern with the “Lou Souvadou” is that, when you come one time, it is hard to leave.

  • Our stay here was wonderful! The house was comfortable and provided a nice retreat from a busy day of exploring the region. The meals that Michel & Françoise prepared for us was excellent, and truly made the experience memorable. The pictures don't even do it justice, the house and view are just incredible, and an amazing way to start and end the days there.

  • This was the highlight of our trip in the Provence area. The house is spectacular, the view is exceptional and the hosts (Francois and Michelle) were fantastic.

Located about a 10 min drive from Avignon and roughly 30-60 min scenic drive to all the amazing towns and cities in the area. Also very close to awesome wineries.

We ended up eating in every night because Francois and Michelle offered an amazing selection of super tasty local food.

I fully recommend this B&B to all.

  • This was my family's first time in Provence and we chose to stay at Mas-Lou Souvadou because it can accommodate all five of us comfortably and it's also not too far away from Avignon TGV.
The house was a very nice French country home with spectacular view. The village was calm and we enjoyed driving to the nearby towns like Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Orange, and others.
The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. They were concerned about our needs and gave good restaurant recommendations, which we were very happy about. They also helped with making reservations.
We wanted to go to the local market to buy produce and meat to cook, and they allowed us to used their kitchen, so we shared our cuisine with them. They were also generous in sharing their food and wine with us.
I highly recommend this place for a group of 5 people!
Oh, and their dogs (both Boxers) are so sweet and friendly, too!

  • Firstly the pictures don't do any justice to their beautiful house! The view from their garden is breathtaking. Given a choice we would have extended our stay with them. We are definitely going back sometime in the future. We stayed at their place for 3 nights. It was very sweet of michel to pick us up from the station. He used to make yummy breakfast every morning for us. Michel and Francois are so hospitable we felt like living with relatives! They had all the information we needed. They gave us maps, bus routes, and restaurants suggestions. Mrs. Francios was very kind to drop us at the bus stop on our first day. Our room was very comfortable. Clean sheets, towels and all the necessary toiletries were provided. The Bathroom we got had an amazing view of the valley. There was ample space in the wardrobe for keeping clothes. We dined at their place on the first night. Francios is a very good cook. Overall I would suggest that if you are traveling to the provence area. You MUST stay with them. My husband and I will never forget our experience. And I forgot to add they have two beautiful dogs! It was our first bnb experience and we loved it.

  • I would come back to Lou Souvadou over and over again. Michel and Francoise our hosts were absolutely wonderful. My friend who I traveled with asked them to adopt her as their own daughter, for fun of course. But it goes to show how welcoming they were. Both my friend and I unfortunately got sick during our stay in Avignon and Michel took care of getting us the help we needed. Not to mention the place was so beautiful and it was the perfect place to catch up on some rest and relaxation. Michel and Luce provided maps, and recommendations of places to go or eat. All were great! The south of France has so much to offer! Michel's family came over and they at once were welcoming and treated us as long time friends. I will never forget their hospitality! The pictures of their home don't do it justice, it's so beautiful with a view of the Rhone and the vineyards from their backyard. C'est magnifique!

  • Staying with Michel and Francoise was one of the main highlights of our time in France. Their estate is absolutely beautiful and a great home base from which to explore Provence. They are the ultimate hosts: patient, great sense of humor, gracious, and fantastic cooks. We enjoyed a duck dinner prepared by Michel, which ended up being better than a similar meal we had at one of the top rated restaurants in Paris later in our trip.

Can't say enough good things about the property, the hosts as people, or our experience. Will definitely be staying here again next time in France and would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the area of Provence.

This was one of our first airbnb experiences and was exactly what we were hoping for.

  • Our stay in Lou Souvadou was wonderfull! Being 6 months pregnant, it was just the holiday that we needed: full of relaxing by the pool in the beautiful garden, visiting Avignon and some nice places in the neighbourhood and enjoying the really good food of Michel and Françoise and the restaurants they recommended us. Michel and Françoise were the best hosts you can imagine, we really enjoyed the nice evenings with them and their friends. We cannot wait to go back again.

  • Luce's friends have a lovely house with gorgeous garden. Breakfast on the terrace set us up for the day (most of which were spent by the pool!). Very well located for trips to wineries and historical sights. We'd love to stay there again!

  • Our time in Provence was wonderful thanks to the great accomodations and help provided by our host Michel. The location was excellent and our room amazing. The grounds were terrific and we wish we could have spent more time just hanging out. Michel helped us maximize our time in the area with his tips and local insight. Also the breakfast every morning was very personalized and plentiful to get us on our way for a day of touring. Hope to return soon. Thanks Michel you were terrific.
