The location in Brooklyn was fantastic. It is right next to a subway station which is one stop away from Manhattan, as well as the Brooklyn bridge. Lauren was fantastic to deal with - I messaged her a few times and she responded very quickly every time. It was quite spacious for two people, and we thought the place was quite cute.
We used a space heater to heat the place as the landlord controlled the radiator and had not turned it off. Wasn't an issue though as the space heater did a good job. There were ants by the door and on the floor in the main room, but by the last day we didn't see any more. I think this was a new temporary problem as no other reviews mentioned it and Lauren didn't know about the issue. Pretty sure it will get solved quickly. The noise on the street was loud in the later morning, but not an issue if you don't want to sleep in.
Overall a good experience. We really enjoyed our time at Lauren's place!
Lauren was a great host. Even though she wasn't around to greet us she was always quick to answer messages. The apartment is great. For anyone with a car, parking is super easy and free! We parked right across the street and left the car there all weekend. The neighborhood is very safe. I recommend taking a walk around the area and checking out the incredible view. Getting across the Brooklyn bridge on foot takes about 15mins. Same amount of time on the subway. Both are easily accessible from the apartment. Check-in/check-out was a breeze. I'd stay at Lauren's apartment again in a heartbeat!
This is a great apartment for a visit to NYC. My boyfriend and I stayed a few nights and it was very comfortable, with easy access to multiple subway stops and sights in Brooklyn. You can easily get anywhere in the city from this location. Lauren was a great host, very easy to communicate with and always accessible for questions throughout out stay.
What a gorgeous place. I loved Lauren's apartment and felt right at home. First time staying in Brooklyn rather than Manhattan and this spot was ideal: just a skip and a jump over the bridge, but nice and quiet and in a bigger place than most Manhattan haunts - and Lauren's place is so close to the subway you barely notice. This place is the dream of neighbourhood living in proximity to the big smoke.
As mentioned in some other reviews, there isn't a bathroom sink - but this really isn't an issue, as there's another sink right there. The bed is comfy, the house warm, the location dreamy - and I only wish I'd gotten myself together to light the fire on one of the cosy nights.
This was a great base for Manhattan exploration and was just as advertised. Lauren responded quickly to our requests and left clear instructions - overall a very nice stay.
Our stay at Lauren's apartment was what we expected it would be. The apartment has obvious downsides being a basement apartment. It is pretty cold, there is a lot of noise that comes in from the street, no cable television, and there is no bathroom sink. Having said that, these things were expected based on the description. The apartment is described perfectly by Lauren and there were no issues that had no been presented ahead of time. Lauren was a very accommodating host, allowing us to stay in the apartment for one night on New Year's Eve. She was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The neighborhood was lovely. Everything was easily accessible. The apartment is the right size for one or two people. Chances are, if you're staying in New York, it isn't to spend time in an apartment. Get out and enjoy the neighborhood. We did and we loved it.
Lovely apartment. Lauren was very quick to respond. All instructions to use the TV, fireplace and internet were included in a laminated booklet. This neighborhood is filled with adorable residential brownstones, it's a little hard to believe that a few blocks up you are overlooking the Hudson onto the city skyline. If you're planning to stay in the Winter, absolutely buy a Duraflame log and fire up the fireplace. Very clean, neat apartment. Thanks Lauren!
