Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We spent 3 days in the Gili Islands which are basically "Paradise Lost, Killed, and found Dead floating on polluted water with no marine life left". Never felt so disgusted in our life. Hence coming to Denpasar to the wooden villa was filled with nasty anticipation from our part. What else can go wrong? The boat company's car stopped in front of this house with bamboo gate. The moment Raf came out and greeted us, all the weight lifted off from my mind. The beautiful garden with small but clean pool, an old, fantastic house, totally remodeled and then Teresa's beautiful smiling face made us feel "civilized" again. Once we went upstairs to the living room and the to our bedroom where our bed was covered with flowers from the garden I almost started weeping in joy. The joy of finding like minded people who care for others. I took some of the reviewers' advice and begged Teresa to make us Pierogi dinner which she did. The salad and the Pierogi dinner was the best food we had in our 3 weeks in Indonesia. Next day's breakfast was heavenly with Raf's home made bread. What a treat! I was sad that we had to leave after only one day. Teresa and Raf made us lunch to take in the plane. We do not eat meat. It was Tempe with mushroom, onion, and tomato. Delicious and my husband ate almost 80% of it. Even after a week, we are thinking of this beautiful couple, two incredible human beings with so much fondness. Hope to see them one day in SF.

  • Staying with Raf and Teresa was the best choice we made for our trip to Bali! The space is a wonderful little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. It is within walking distance of the beach and the local neighborhood is friendly and full of dynamic Balinese architecture. All the amenities are clean and comfortable. And the daily homemade food is delicious! Raf and Terese truly make you feel at home and cater to your needs. It feels like you are staying at a five star resort, without the five star cost. Highly recommended!

  • Gracious Host , Wonderful Cooking, Calming Ambience, Good Privacy, Relaxing Holiday & on top of all these - Best Home Baked Bread + Best Pirogue(must try) & Tempe Salad !! All are happening at Wooden Villa at Rafal and Teresa's charming place.
The 'legendary' breakfasts prepared by them were truly fantastic- They are both wonderful host with very good insights about the island's what-to and what-not.
They have trust-worthy driver that provides tours around the island or to the towns.
We have learnt a lot about Bali from the driver Gung who was really passionate about introducing his island.
I have tried Balinese traditional massage at the villa, it was a bliss!
In the day time we strolled down the street in the village to the nearby black sandy beach, where villagers were carrying out their daily tasks, the surrounding rice field is like a painting with farmers harvesting their crops.
After a warm day, the pool in the garden was truly welcoming !
The village temple was quiet during day time & when the night fell it was the all night long chanting and singing as the perfect backdrop music for our candle-lit dinner in the dimly-lit garden under the stars.
We were pampered with very clean, European.standard bathroom, with clean towels; which from my past experience in Bali, was a real luxury.
Bed was clean with perfect white sheets, We did not use the aircon as the nights had been rainy.
Both my husband and I agreed that this was the best choice we had made for stay in Bali,
It is a home away from home and for anyone who wants to experience Bali without the common tourist surroundings.
All the reviews I have read about Wooden Villa came true for us. It is indeed great value for money.
Thanks a million to Rafal & Teresa for making it a memorable stay :))

  • I really had such a great time. Rafal&Teresa are the perfect hosts. They solved all my problem, gave me useful tips and made me discover their island. Moreover they prepared a different&mouthwatering breakfast every day. The house has a wonderful garden, a swimming pool, and is surrounded by the nature. I could not get a better treatment.

  • The Wooden Villa is a great home away from home in a traditional area of Bali. Tess and Rafal are wonderful hosts and extremely hospitable. They were able to answer any of our questions and also gave good advice. Even their communication prior to arrival was great.

Tess’s food is fantastic blend of multiple cultures. Rafal made the best bread and donuts! Breakfast was always a surprise and something different each day. We enjoyed spending time with Tess and Rafal!

The room is clean and comfortable. The view of the rice fields from the upper floor is beautiful. The pool is ideal for those hot morning or dips after breakfast.

The best way to get around is by scooter. Ubud is about 45 minutes and Sanur about 20 minutes by scooter. There are lots of options for daily adventures in the surrounding area.

I recommend a tour with Agung. He is a energetic, reliable and friendly. We enjoyed learning from him about the culture and seeing the sights. We always had great conversations.

    Thanks for having us!

  • Thanks to Rafael and Teresa, they own a really beautiful house, just finishing a wonderful garden, the pool is gorgeous too after you come home from a trip. Both were very eager to help in every situation, organizing beautiful beach trips, dinners, massage in the garden and so one. Find out and you will be surprised too! Don't forget la haute cuisine! We did not go out for dinner, because there was every day another meal, european, asian and balinese of course. Don't forget Agung, the friend of them who was our driver, we recommend to book him for yor trips, trustful and reliable and very friendly, telling stories, stops at ceremonies. So pls book NOW

  • Rafal and Teresa are wonderful hosts and will make your stay at their property memorable. The wooden villa is in a quiet location in a traditional village, close to the sea and with Sanur, Denpasar and main routes to the rest of Bali quite accessible.
Rafael and Teresa have done a wonderful job of renovating and improving this property. There is a Varanda overlooking rice fields where you can sit and watch the volcano in the distance and feel the cool refreshing breeze blowing in.
Bedrooms are well planned and cool and by now a small swimming pool they were building in the garden should be complete.
Teresa's cooking is a combination of traditional Balinese and Polish. All delicious!
