The Space

Experience the good life in the heart of California's Central Coast, Arroyo Grande. Relax in the privacy of an artfully appointed guest room that opens through French doors onto a secluded, landscaped Mediterranean-style courtyard (for your use alone). After the day's activities, sunbathe or read by the gently gurgling fountain. Sip wine or chat together under a starry night sky while enjoying the ambiance (and warmth) of a fire bowl. A bountiful breakfast featuring local, seasonal treats from the Central Coast will be served each morning in the courtyard to a chorus of songbirds, if requested in advance and weather permits.

With its own entrance, your guest room features a queen size sleigh bed (with lots of pillows and a down comforter) as well as an en suite shower and jacuzzi. Electric kettle, coffees and teas, Bose iPod speakers, hair dryer, magnifying mirror and wireless internet are also provided. Beach chairs and beach towels are also available for guest use. There is no TV in paradise.

My home is centrally located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California’s spectacular Central Coast just ½ mile off the 101 in a quiet residential neighborhood. Beautiful beaches and miles of sand dunes (5 min), vineyards and wineries (5 miles) abound. Walk the piers at nearby Pismo and Avila beaches. The charming Village of Arroyo Grande (2 miles) and the culture and night life of San Luis Obispo (10 miles) are on everyone’s must-see list. (Don’t miss the Thursday night farmer’s market in SLO.) There are great restaurants to match everyone’s palate and budget, and I can provide you with a book of menus, as well as directions to local attractions.

Going a bit further north, most tourists visit Morro Rock in Morro Bay (30 miles) as well as the incredible elephant seals in Cambria (50 miles) and Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Traditional California landscapes and more wineries entice travelers to Paso Robles (45 min.) and Lake Nacimiento (one hour).

  • We stayed at Gay's for two nights. Before booking, I was worried about a cat allergy - she was very accommodating and she ensured me that the room would be thoroughly cleaned for us. The space and neighborhood were peaceful and Gay was very available. We enjoyed our stay!

  • I had such a wonderful and peaceful stay here. The room was serene, the patio inspiring, and the breakfast was amazing. The location is great as well. Not only was I able to relax and get some writing done in the courtyard, but I was also able to get away for an afternoon at Avila beach. Gay is a delightful host and I will definitely be staying here again the next time I'm on the central coast.

  • My wife and I had a great time staying at Gay's place. The guestroom with the attached courtyard was as lovely as shown in the photos, and we appreciated the breakfasts that she made for us. It was an excellent base for us to take trips into San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach. Would highly recommend her place to a friend!

  • Gay's home is exactly as she described- and Gay is wonderful. Cozy, lovely, super comfy bed with luscious bedding, great well appointed bathroom, large closet... And omg both breakfasts Gay prepared for us were fantastic! Loved the location just a few minutes drive from several beaches, the Monarch Butterfly grove in Pismo Beach and lots of good restaurants. I especially lived Fay's sense of style, color and interior design. What a great place to being in 2014! We will go back!

  • My fiance and I decided to use AirBNB for the first time to book a weekend stay at the Central Coast and we found Gay. To summarize, the experience was fantastic! Gay is a very nice and welcoming host and we were treated so very well. Located in beautiful Arroyo Grande, Gay's accommodation is beautifully set, quiet, pristinely clean and her service was impeccable. We enjoyed two peaceful breakfasts outside of our room on her patio and the food was great! My fiance enjoyed the jacuzzi both days and we both felt completely at home and relaxed. Thank you, Gay!

  • Gay was an excellent hostess and the accommodation is both immaculate and extremely comfortable. Gay provided really useful local knowledge for walks and entertainment in Arroyo Grande. On top of that she is a superb cook and the breakfasts were a fabulous start to each day. I would not hesitate to reccommend Gay and her home and hope to return myself at some point. Thank you, Gay.
