Experience the good life in the heart of California's Central Coast, Arroyo Grande. Relax in the privacy of an artfully appointed guest room that opens through French doors onto a secluded, landscaped Mediterranean-style courtyard (for your use alone). After the day's activities, sunbathe or read by the gently gurgling fountain. Sip wine or chat together under a starry night sky while enjoying the ambiance (and warmth) of a fire bowl. A bountiful breakfast featuring local, seasonal treats from the Central Coast will be served in the courtyard to a chorus of songbirds, if requested in advance and weather permits. (Breakfast served Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.)
With its own entrance, your guest room features a queen size sleigh bed (with lots of pillows and a down comforter) as well as an en suite shower and jacuzzi. Electric kettle, coffees and teas, Bose iPod speakers, hair dryer, magnifying mirror and wireless internet are also provided. Beach chairs and beach towels are also available for guest use. There is no TV in paradise.
My home is centrally located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California’s spectacular Central Coast just ½ mile off the 101 in a quiet residential neighborhood. Beautiful beaches and miles of sand dunes (5 min), vineyards and wineries (5 miles) abound. Walk the piers at nearby Pismo and Avila beaches. The charming Village of Arroyo Grande (2 miles) and the culture and night life of San Luis Obispo (10 miles) are on everyone’s must-see list. (Don’t miss the Thursday night farmer’s market in SLO.) There are great restaurants to match everyone’s palate and budget, and I can provide you with a book of menus, as well as directions to local attractions.
Going a bit further north, most tourists visit Morro Rock in Morro Bay (30 miles) as well as the incredible elephant seals in Cambria (50 miles) and Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Traditional California landscapes and more wineries entice travelers to Paso Robles (45 min.) and Lake Nacimiento (one hour).
This room is separate from the house and does not have kitchen facilities.
Interaction with Guests
I honor my guests' desire for privacy but am always pleased to join them at breakfast or chat if they wish.
My neighborhood is a mix of young families and retired people. It's a safe place to live and walk around and is generally very quiet and peaceful.
We do have buses that run between Arroyo Grande and the beaches as well as to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, but they do not run frequently. Driving is easy here and you rarely have trouble finding parking anywhere you go.
I have an indoor cat, but you won't see him. He is not in the guest room or in the courtyard.
You may check in after 3pm.
Please honor the 11am check-out time.
No smoking in the house, but you may smoke in the courtyard.
Please no food in the bedroom. There is a lovely eating space in the courtyard.
Please park in the driveway on the far left side nearest the sidewalk.
The jacuzzi/soaking tub is for one person at a time. It takes a LOT of water so I would appreciate it if guests limited use to one time per day.
Our stay with Gay was fabulous! She was such a gracious host. She was very accommodating with us from the start as our arrival time was up in the air. When we did arrive, check-in was a breeze!
Gay provides a fabulous binder full of a plethora of information about activities in the area, restaurant menus, etc. Fantastic resource for all!
Our breakfasts in the morning were so great! Set in the courtyard, she creates a beautiful display of food and beverages. As we had a few food restrictions, she accommodated us perfectly. It was such a treat to be served a morning meal. We also enjoyed this time as it gave us the opportunity to get to chat with her for a bit each morning. She is a sweet soul.
The accommodations were fantastic. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and clean, and she left a nice little display of in-room coffees and teas.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would totally stay at Gay's lovely guest room again in the future. 2 thumbs up!
Our experience staying with Gay was wonderful. Her guest room is clean, comfortable and warm, and the bathroom is quite luxurious. It faces a cute courtyard which gets plenty of light and has its own entrance. For anybody looking to to experience the Central Coast and have good access to all the sites, Gay's guest room is surefire choice.
We had a lovely time at Gay's suite in Arroyo Grande. It was the perfect little spot for us. Gay has made it a very comfortable place to get away. She provided thoughtful amenities along with lovely decor and a delicious breakfast in the beautiful outdoor courtyard. Even though it was a bit chilly we were very comfortable with the personal ceramic gas fire warmer that Gay provided. We will definitely be back!
Thanks again Gay!
This was my first time using the site and Gay did not let me down. Everything was just as she described. She made us a great breakfast, the room was very clean and in order. We felt like we were in a hotel or even better. Gay is a very nice lady, extremely pleasant, and consensus. The only minor draw back is that the walls are a bit thin so we felt like we could not make too much noise. The room is completely private but it shares a wall with her home. It was fabulous.
Gay has created a very private, cozy place to stay that rivals any of the nicest hotels in the area. She greeted us warmly, provided home cooked breakfasts and attended to our every request. The suite includes a bath with soaking tub and shower, two sinks and the bed is to die for. There is artwork everywhere, inside the room and outside in the enclosed patio. We were pleased with the location relative to Tiber Canyon Ranch where we were attending a wedding. I would highly recommend this spot when visiting Arroyo Grande.
Gay's is warm and an extremely helpful host. The room and bathroom are gorgeous and extremely clean. You feel like you are in a high end B&B. There is a lovely private courtyard to relax in. The location was perfect. Near the ocean and many shops. I highly recommend her place.
my wife and I stayed over at gay's quest room for 2 nights. everything was exactly as it was described. it was very nice and clean. quite neighborhood. gay helped us with local restaurants and attractions. she is a very gracious host. we enjoyed staying there.
