About This Listing
Experience the good life in the heart of California's Central Coast, Arroyo Grande. Relax in the privacy of an artfully appointed guest room that opens through French doors onto a secluded, landscaped Mediterranean-style courtyard (for your use alone). After the day's activities, sunbathe or read by the gently gurgling fountain. Sip wine or chat together under a starry night sky while enjoying the ambiance (and warmth) of a fire bowl. A bountiful breakfast featuring local, seasonal treats from the Central Coast will be served in the courtyard to a chorus of songbirds, if requested in advance and weather permits. (Breakfast served Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.)
With its own entrance, your guest room features a queen size sleigh bed (with lots of pillows and a down comforter) as well as an en suite shower and jacuzzi. Electric kettle, coffees and teas, Bose iPod speakers, hair dryer, magnifying mirror and wireless internet are also provided. Beach chairs and beach towels are also available for guest use. There is no TV in paradise.
My home is centrally located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California’s spectacular Central Coast just ½ mile off the 101 in a quiet residential neighborhood. Beautiful beaches and miles of sand dunes (5 min), vineyards and wineries (5 miles) abound. Walk the piers at nearby Pismo and Avila beaches. The charming Village of Arroyo Grande (2 miles) and the culture and night life of San Luis Obispo (10 miles) are on everyone’s must-see list. (Don’t miss the Thursday night farmer’s market in SLO.) There are great restaurants to match everyone’s palate and budget, and I can provide you with a book of menus, as well as directions to local attractions.
Going a bit further north, most tourists visit Morro Rock in Morro Bay (30 miles) as well as the incredible elephant seals in Cambria (50 miles) and Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Traditional California landscapes and more wineries entice travelers to Paso Robles (45 min.) and Lake Nacimiento (one hour).
This room is separate from the house with its own private entrance and does not have kitchen facilities.
Interaction with Guests
I honor my guests' desire for privacy but am always pleased to join them at breakfast or chat if they wish.
My neighborhood is a mix of young families and retired people. It's a safe place to live and walk around and is generally very quiet and peaceful.
We do have buses that run between Arroyo Grande and the beaches as well as to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, but they do not run frequently. Driving is easy here and you rarely have trouble finding parking anywhere you go.
I have an indoor cat, but you won't see him. He is not in the guest room or in the courtyard.
You may check in after 3pm.
Please honor the 11am check-out time.
No smoking in the house, but you may smoke in the courtyard.
Please no food in the bedroom. There is a lovely eating space in the courtyard.
Please park in the driveway on the far left side nearest the sidewalk.
The jacuzzi/soaking tub is for one person at a time. It takes a LOT of water so I would appreciate it if guests limited use to one time per day.
This Airbnb was a gem of a find! I came for Bob Burridge's art workshop which was just a couple miles away from this tastefully decorated home. Besides the room shown in the picture, my private guest room included a large private bath, walk in closet, and private patio. The private patio has two nice sitting areas where I enjoyed relaxing out there watching the hummingbirds flit in and out. My hostess was warm and charming. Early one morning, my hostess was so kind to show me the village, as well as the beaches where the sea lions lounged under the piers. I enjoyed her knowledge about the area, and we enjoyed dinner at a picnic table from a bluff overlooking the beach one evening. The home is nestled in a quiet community that is so easy to get to from the airport and close to many beaches. Most of all, I loved staying at this Airbnb because it felt more like staying with a close friend, instead of staying at a hotel. The bed was scrumptiously comfortable, with crisp linens, fluffy pillows, and a marshmallow comforter to pull up around me during the cool night. When I come to this area again someday, I know where I will be staying.
This was a perfect trip. The room was beautiful. It was very clean and big. The closet has a lot of room and there's a tiny fridge for your use. The bathroom is very spacious and nice. We were unable to use the jacuzzi because of the water restraint, which is understandable. The bed was comfortable and she provided enough blankets and comforter to sleep nice and snug. She was the perfect host. Made us a hot breakfast while there, which was delicious. Her courtyard is beautiful and very relaxing. She was so nice and made us breakfast even after waking up after the hour we had asked for breakfast. Gay was very helpful and an awesome host. We really enjoyed our stay at her house. The beach was 5 minutes away. There were plenty of restaurants and food places to eat at. The village shopping center was close.
My wife and I had a most delightful time with Gay. She is a gracious and delightful host who we invited to chat with us because she was so interesting. The room itself is perfect, with plentiful closet space and a spacious bath. The bed was perfect and the neighborhood quiet so a sound sleep is assured. We couldn't have asked for more - everything exceeded expectations. We will return!
This was everything we expected and maybe more. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing in the private patio and Gay made us a nice breakfast while we were there. She was also very helpful with advice on local attractions and restaurants. We hope to return sometime soon.
Thank you Gay for being the perfect host.
Gay was a phenomenal host - she was resourceful when needed, provided delicious breakfast in the mornings and was overall very accommodating. Her description and photos of the guest room were spot on so there were no surprises. Our only complaint was that the bed was a little noisy and firm, but to be fair, we're spoiled with our mattress at home.
The house is located in a very nice and safe residential neighborhood. We rented ATVs one of the days (rent with Arnies!) and it was an easy ~8 minute drive from the house to Grover beach.
Our two-night stay was overall amazing. We can't say enough about how sweet and welcoming Gay is - she's truly a great host with a lovely home.
We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay in this airbnb. It is a lovely, well appointed room in a beautiful home in a quite and upscale neighborhood. The location is close to the beach communities, San Luis Obispo, and the village of Arroyo Grande. We love the entrance which is through a Spanish style enclosed courtyard. This is also where Gay serves breakfast. She is a wonderful host who can answer any question about the area. Her book of local attractions is the best we have seen.
Our stay with Gay was fabulous! She was such a gracious host. She was very accommodating with us from the start as our arrival time was up in the air. When we did arrive, check-in was a breeze!
Gay provides a fabulous binder full of a plethora of information about activities in the area, restaurant menus, etc. Fantastic resource for all!
Our breakfasts in the morning were so great! Set in the courtyard, she creates a beautiful display of food and beverages. As we had a few food restrictions, she accommodated us perfectly. It was such a treat to be served a morning meal. We also enjoyed this time as it gave us the opportunity to get to chat with her for a bit each morning. She is a sweet soul.
The accommodations were fantastic. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and clean, and she left a nice little display of in-room coffees and teas.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would totally stay at Gay's lovely guest room again in the future. 2 thumbs up!
