About this listing
Experience the good life in the heart of California's Central Coast, Arroyo Grande. Relax in the privacy of an artfully appointed guest room that opens through French doors onto a secluded, landscaped Mediterranean-style courtyard (for your use alone). After the day's activities, sunbathe or read by the gently gurgling fountain. Sip wine or chat together under a starry night sky while enjoying the ambiance (and warmth) of a fire bowl. A bountiful breakfast featuring local, seasonal treats from the Central Coast will be served in the courtyard to a chorus of songbirds, if requested in advance and weather permits. (Breakfast served Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.)
With its own entrance, your guest room features a queen size sleigh bed (with lots of pillows and a down comforter) as well as an en suite shower and jacuzzi. Electric kettle, coffees and teas, Bose iPod speakers, hair dryer, magnifying mirror and wireless internet are also provided. Beach chairs and beach towels are also available for guest use. There is no TV in paradise.
My home is centrally located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California’s spectacular Central Coast just ½ mile off the 101 in a quiet residential neighborhood. Beautiful beaches and miles of sand dunes (5 min), vineyards and wineries (5 miles) abound. Walk the piers at nearby Pismo and Avila beaches. The charming Village of Arroyo Grande (2 miles) and the culture and night life of San Luis Obispo (10 miles) are on everyone’s must-see list. (Don’t miss the Thursday night farmer’s market in SLO.) There are great restaurants to match everyone’s palate and budget, and I can provide you with a book of menus, as well as directions to local attractions.
Going a bit further north, most tourists visit Morro Rock in Morro Bay (30 miles) as well as the incredible elephant seals in Cambria (50 miles) and Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Traditional California landscapes and more wineries entice travelers to Paso Robles (45 min.) and Lake Nacimiento (one hour).
This room is separate from the house with its own private entrance and does not have kitchen facilities.
Interaction with guests
I honor my guests' desire for privacy but am always pleased to join them at breakfast or chat if they wish.
My neighborhood is a mix of young families and retired people. It's a safe place to live and walk around and is generally very quiet and peaceful.
We do have buses that run between Arroyo Grande and the beaches as well as to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, but they do not run frequently. Driving is easy here and you rarely have trouble finding parking anywhere you go.
You may check in after 3pm.
Please honor the 11am check-out time.
No smoking in the house, but you may smoke in the courtyard.
There is a small refrigerator, but please do not eat In the bedroom. There is a lovely eating space in the courtyard.
You may park in the driveway on the far left side nearest the sidewalk or on the street.
The jacuzzi/soaking tub is not in use at the present time due to serious water restrictions and fines by the city.
The room is too small for more than 2 people, but if you have an infant, the large walkin closet could accommodate a crib.
Cancel up to 24 hours before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.
Hi there. I look forward to meeting you. A little about myself . . . I’m a corporate communication strategist. I’ve lived in Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, Boston, Milwaukee and Los Angeles before moving to this gorgeous, friendly part of the world. I’m a life-long art collector and artist. I’ve travelled far (Europe, Africa, Asia and the Carribbean) and wide (all 50 fabulous states in the U.S.) and have decided it’s time to return all the hospitality I’ve received over the years during my own travels. Let me know your interests, and I’ll try to point you in the right direction! I look forward to hosting you.
