Experience the good life in the heart of California's Central Coast, Arroyo Grande. Relax in the privacy of an artfully appointed guest room that opens through French doors onto a secluded, landscaped Mediterranean-style courtyard (for your use alone). After the day's activities, sunbathe or read by the gently gurgling fountain. Sip wine or chat together under a starry night sky while enjoying the ambiance (and warmth) of a fire bowl. A bountiful breakfast featuring local, seasonal treats from the Central Coast will be served each morning in the courtyard to a chorus of songbirds, if requested in advance and weather permits.
With its own entrance, your guest room features a queen size sleigh bed (with lots of pillows and a down comforter) as well as an en suite shower and jacuzzi. Electric kettle, coffees and teas, Bose iPod speakers, hair dryer, magnifying mirror and wireless internet are also provided. Beach chairs and beach towels are also available for guest use. There is no TV in paradise.
My home is centrally located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California’s spectacular Central Coast just ½ mile off the 101 in a quiet residential neighborhood. Beautiful beaches and miles of sand dunes (5 min), vineyards and wineries (5 miles) abound. Walk the piers at nearby Pismo and Avila beaches. The charming Village of Arroyo Grande (2 miles) and the culture and night life of San Luis Obispo (10 miles) are on everyone’s must-see list. (Don’t miss the Thursday night farmer’s market in SLO.) There are great restaurants to match everyone’s palate and budget, and I can provide you with a book of menus, as well as directions to local attractions.
Going a bit further north, most tourists visit Morro Rock in Morro Bay (30 miles) as well as the incredible elephant seals in Cambria (50 miles) and Hearst Castle at San Simeon. Traditional California landscapes and more wineries entice travelers to Paso Robles (45 min.) and Lake Nacimiento (one hour).
I had the most wonderful stay at Gays place. Before I even came she was recommending things to do and ensuring I got tickets for Hearst castle before they sold out. On the way down to her home last minute she let me know of a farmers market at night a town away - we went and it was so fun. She was easy to communicate with and provided everything I wanted in a private stay - beautifully decorated and clean room with a private bathroom (even his and her sinks!), towels, coffee and tea should we want any. My biggest compliment is how clean everything was and serene due to her wonderful hosting abilities. Both mornings we were given breakfast on the patio with a fire nearby - ice water with lemon, coffee, hot and cold breakfast (cut up watermelon - yum!). One day she left early and left us breakfast and bags to take extra on the road. She also has a guest binder filled with descriptions of beaches (such as where you pay, which is warmer, if there are other activities etc), hikes, restaurants and even whale watching and spas as well as beach chairs and towels. Of a few stays I've had I felt most
Gay has a very lovely room and very luxurious bathroom with an awesome jacuzzi. A big extra is the delicious warm breakfast she serves every morning.
We stayed 2 nights at Gays' lovely estate. She is very kind. I found it easy to keep conversation on going with her as well. Although I feel I missed out on the breakfast aspect of this trip the bed & room made up for it. She offers a clean, spacious & O0oh so delightful bed/ bedding (aka Nesting material) and very adorable feel inside and out!
Made me consider to move 2 AG area in future 0r at least come back sooner than later. We stayed here because my family had a get together at the dunes with recreation vehicles/toys & it was this side of the vacation I didn't get enough of- calm, quiet & Country. Look forward to visiting again. Thank you Gay for your hospitality!

We had a wonderful stay. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. Gay is a superb host providing a welcoming stay. The location to beaches and wine country is outstanding!
Our first experience with Airbnb and with our host Gay Groomes was 100% beyond our expectations. Gay was very nice to talk to. She was very hospitable and it was like staying at a friends house. She prepared a lovely breakfast for us both mornings....even went shopping for DELICIOUS homemake olive bread for our 2nd breakfast. She really is a delight and we would love to return as well as tell our friends who travel to that area.
The room and Courtyard were Deluxe. We had our own private entrance, extremely well equiped bedroom and bath. We were very delighted to be there.
Gay was warm and welcoming. She was very accommodating as we had to leave very early on Sat. morning for a graduation in SLO. She provided a small "portable" breakfast we could eat on the run. The breakfast on Sunday was relaxed and wonderful, a really welcome time for us. I would definitely recommend Gay and the cute room and bathroom in Arroyo Grande.
We had the loveliest stay at Gay's. She was incredibly accommodating and gave us great insight into the area. Firstly, we arrived much much later than we anticipated because we underestimated the drive through Big Sur and Gay was very understanding. The room and bathroom are clean, comfortable and very spacious. Gay has compiled a wonderful manual with tons of information about the space and things to do in the surrounding area. We had a great time walking through Arroyo Grande village, walking by the beaches and we even went to a drive-in movie in San Luis Obispo. Finally, and perhaps most notably, Gay prepared breakfast for us each morning that was both delicious and dazzling. Beginning our day in her courtyard, sipping tea, eating fresh fruit and a warm omelette while watching the hummingbirds swirl around the bird feeder was heavenly. We highly recommend Gay as a host. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
Had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Gay's place. It was quiet, peaceful, and a beautiful place. Gay was very welcoming and an awesome host. She has a book with recommended activities to do and restaurants to try. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I really loved our stay there. Will definitely recommend her place if you're going to Pismo area.
She was nice and accommodating, especially when we were arriving later than expected. The neighborhood was quiet and our stay was pleasant.
