Casa Hira Rosa is situated in the mountains of Monteverde just a few minutes walk to the world famous Monteverde Reserve. This peaceful retreat, Casa Hira Rosa, is nestled within the misty canopy and offers a distinct log cabin feel constructed of beautiful natural wood and set in lush green vegetation.

Maria's house is beautifully set in the lush cool mountains of Costa Rica. We spent at least a few days relaxing and doing nothing except lounging around the house. We had a great time and would highly recommend visiting Monteverde.
This house has a great rustic feel that reminded us of cabins we visit in northern Minnesota. It is located right near the entrance of the Monteverde reserve for easy hiking access but not too far of a drive into town. It's definitely chillier up there and the air is permanently moist, so bring some warm clothes. Our two little boys enjoyed having some room to play in the house and the caretakers were very kind, responsive and attentive.
Our experience here was awesome. The house is beautiful, the location in Monte Verde is great. If you're in Costa Rica for an adventure, it's perfect.
There was one thing which MAY concern people with children, but I will thoughtfully assure that despite how "scary" it may seem, it was actually safe:
The house had many Wasps that somehow found their way in to the front room. However, they all huddled around the windows and by what I believe to be bug spray, died very fast. We had to sweep them up in the morning. (all dead) The wasps did not fly around the house, nor did they bother us. Also, perhaps this event isn't always occurring.
I would stay here again!
It is a very pretty house, and the location is very convenience as well. Maria and her uncle are very nice and very helpful. Recommended!
What a beautiful getaway. Just as colorful in person as in the pictures. This is a great way to spend some time in the cloud forest.
The home is beautiful and beautifully crafted. The wood is perfect, the rooms are well designed and it just fits in beautifully to the surrounding forest.
The place is a little outside the towns of Monteverde & Santa Elena but an easy cab ride away. If you don't have a car, stock up on some groceries before heading there. The cabin is equipped with everything you'll need to cook.
In addition to all of that, Rolando and his wife live just up the hill and are quite possibly the kindest people we've ever met. They had us up for coffee & treats and told us of their lives and the history of the cabin.
Wonderful experience. It's a bit colder that the beach towns in Costa Rica, so prepare for that!
I loved the home! It's tucked away in the mountains of Monte Verde's Cloud Forest. Kind of difficult to find, but Maria stayed on the phone with us until we arrived. Her uncle, who's home is nearby, brought us extra blankets & towels once he knew we brought more people. The home had a full kitchen, with pans, plates, cups, utensils & a chorreador (a coffee & mesh strainer). Hot running water for the shower. A lovely closed patio area. And plenty of couches and chairs. I would definitely recommend it to friends & family.
My complaints: wasps got in the house & bit 2 of us! I ran to the uncle's house & cried for help. They brought over a spray & killed the wasps immediately. And, the website was a bit deceiving. It originally said $0 for additional people, but after we had already been charged, the host contacted us saying there was a an additional charge for each extra person. I didn't mind paying it, I just believe in the principal of the matter. It should have been honored this time around. I couldn't cancel at that point. AirBnB takes forever to return your payment or cancel a payment. I didn't want to go through that stress. And I already fell in love with the home over the internet, so I didn't want to let it go.
So other than that, it was a lovely home in an amazing location. Renting out an entire home is the way to go!
We absolutely loved the cabin. Yes it is a bit rustic, but still amazing. We stayed for 6 days and 5 nights, about halfway through they came and picked up our used towels and left us with fresh clean ones. Everyone was very friendly and happy to help anyway they could! It was a little chilly while we were there so the house was quite cool, but Rolando brought us a space heater without us having to ask. Definitely a first rate vacation rental!
Maria and family were amazing. We arrived on Christmas Eve day and they welcomed us into their home as if we were part of the fam. Most welcoming community (and tamales) I've been a part of. Definitely recommended.
Our family of seven had a great time - this beautiful house was spacious, clean and comfortable for us to lounge, cook and sleep. It is very close to the Monteverde reserve center (<5 min walk) and a 10 min taxi ride to Santa Elena. With lots of activities providing pick up and drop off service, it was really easy to get around from the house. Both Maria and Rolando (who lives nearby) are great hosts (reliable, accommodating and resourceful). Our three nights in this wonderful cabin in the Costa Rican cloud forest has to be once in a lifetime experience! Thank you, Maria and Rolando.
It was an interesting experience staying at this property. The host Rolando was very helpful and easy to reach. He stayed at the house next door. It was a little difficult finding the place because there was no address. Also, we found some of the linens to be dirty and several of the rooms had bug problems. We told the host about this and they replaced linens the next day. The location is great and it's almost like you are in the middle of the jungle. It had nice big windows so that you can see outside. At night it can be a bit noisy with all the bugs. It is very roomy house but only has 1 bathroom. The value is good and as long as you don't mind roughing it a little bit because its not luxurious as staying at a 4 star hotel then it's a good place to stay.
