Welcome to 4014 Cascadia Ave S from Shane, Stacy, Wyeth, Owen and Spike.

You are now located in the Mount Baker Neighborhood. You are also minutes away from the Columbia City shopping and eating area. Columbia City is located around S Ferdinand St. and Rainier Ave S. There is also a good coffee shop / pizzeria(Mioposto) across from Mount Baker park at S Mclellan St. and Hunter Blvd.

You can access light rail at the Mt. Baker Station at Mclellan and Rainier Ave S. It’s a bit of a walk. The #7 bus, which you can catch down the hill at Andover and Rainier Ave S will get you to the Light rail station or all the way down town. It will take you through the International District along the way.

I’ve put together a map of some neighborhood highlights. The link may be found in the “Directions” portion of our Airbnb listing.

There is no smoking allowed inside. If you smoke outside, please dispose of your cigarette butts. Only guests prearranged through AirBnb may spend the night. Animals are only allowed on the property if previously arranged.

Dining Room:
There is a leaf available for the dining room table. It is in the basement. There are extra chairs that can be used for the dining room also in the basement.

Kitchen:
Help your self to spices as needed. As far as our food goes, if you use a very little, don’t sweat it. If you eat a lot, please replace it. The fan over the stove does not exhaust, but only blows. If you are generating smoke or strong odors with your cooking, it is best to open the kitchen windows. The dishwasher works pretty effectively and saves energy if you use it on the “light” function. There are extra shopping bags in the pantry next to refrigerator. Stores in Seattle charge .05 - .15 cents a bag if they provide them. Feel free to use some of ours, simply return them when done. Do not put any of the pots or pans that are labeled Calphalon in the dishwasher. They will be ruined if you do. Please point this out to anyone using the kitchen. Thank you in advance for your attention to this.

Living Room:
We have Netflix and Hulu subscribed on our Apple TV. Use the television remote to access Input 5. You can use the Apple TV menu to access these 2 streaming services.
Please close and lock the downstairs windows when you leave for the day. Do not use the fireplace or you will get smoked out.

Backyard:
If you BBQ, please keep the BBQ down on the patio, away from the house. Never use the BBQ on the porch. Children are welcome to use the sandbox. Please clean their shoes, empty their pants, and generally remove sand from them before they come in the house. Please keep the yard gates closed when you leave.

Downstairs Bathroom:
Steam generated by showering from this room will set off the smoke detector right in the hallway. You have to air the room out by opening the window over the tub after taking a hot shower. Keep the bathroom door closed until the steam has settled, or the smoke detector will go off. And it’s loud. Please point this out to your fellow guests. This always gets people know matter how many times we warn them.

Also, the tub and shower tiles are painted and susceptible to scratching. Please do not bring sharp toys into or wear stiletto heals in the downstairs bathtub. You can wear your heals in the upstairs shower if you need to.

Basement Bedroom:
The inflatable mattress in the basement can be re-inflated once a day if you need to make it firmer. There is a control on the side against the wall for adding or releasing air. Please do not move this bed to another part of the house. Do not let pets onto this bed.

Laundry:
The washer and dryer are through the glass door off the basement bedroom. Please empty the lint screen before each use of the dryer. This area is not child safe, and there should be no need to voyage beyond the washer dryer area. The water heater and furnace are back there as well in case of emergency.

Garage:
The garage is not child safe and there should be no reason for guests to enter this space. Please respect our privacy and do not enter the garage. It may be used as an Exit in case of an emergency.

Master Bedroom:
We’ve made the dressers available for your use. We’ve created some space in the closet so you can hang things. Please do not wear our clothes or shoes. But if you do, we expect pictures. We’ve also left bedding, and personal items in the linen closet. If you use extra towels and bedding, please wash and fold the linens you are replacing.

Kids Room:
We are unable to empty out the kids dressers and closet. There is extra bedding in the bottom left drawer of the crib and the linen closet in upstairs hallway. Please do not borrow kids clothes. Feel free to play with toys and look at books. Please track which toys your children brought with them and which toys are ours. It would be sad if something were not here when our little ones returned.

Cleaning:
Please keep the house in the condition you found it. Please leave used bathroom linens on the bathroom floor. Brooms and mops are available in the downstairs coat closet if you need them. Other cleaning supplies may be found in the kitchen cabinets mostly above the stove. Run the dishwasher on your way out if it is nearly full. Take out the trash. Empty the diaper genie if you used it.

Trash & Recycling:
Please put trash in the trashcan under the counter on the right. Recycling goes in the black container in the corner by the porch. Please dispose of your trash in the black trashcan in the driveway. Keep the lid in the can so that crows and raccoons don’t make a mess of it. Compost can go in the green composting trashcan in the driveway. Food scraps, including meat, along with soiled paper products can all be composted. If you are staying over a Wednesday night, please pull the trashcan to the curb for a Thursday morning pick-up.

Home was as advertised and available when we arrived even though there was a mixup with the key/lockbox not being returned by the cleaning staff. Timothy gave us an alternative way to get into the house and communicated with us well.

Timothy's home is a great house in an even better location. Close to all amenities and the guide he left behind for take out and places to eat was very helpful. Great pricing for a lovely home. The area is pretty accessible to public transit so you are always able to get to where you need to go.

Great little house, super close to downtown! We had a great weekend at Shane's home. It was the perfect place and location for our family. Anyone traveling with small children would appreciate staying here - you wont have to bring anything with you to keep your kids entertained. My 2 year had a blast reading all their kid's books and playing with their toys. She was also stoked to sleep in a bunk bed. Dog friendly too, which is a huge bonus. Comfortable accomodations, kitchen had everything I needed for cooking. Loved all the big beautiful windows and natural light. Would stay here again.

I brought my two boys for a work trip/vacation to Seattle and was so happy to have found this house to stay at for the week. It was clean bright and in a quiet neighborhood. With two young kids it was a refreshing alternative to staying at a hotel. There was a food co-op nearby for groceries and a short drive to the downtown area. I hope that we can stay here again for future trips to Seattle.

This house is overall pretty good for the price. Make sure to note that it has 2 full sized beds and one bed for a young child, as opposed to 3 full sized. And it's only a couple minutes to the best french toast in the whole world at Geraldine's Counter!!!

Shane was an excellent host and his home was perfect for a family. The neighborhood was wonderful with beautiful parks and great cafe/restaurant recommendations via the house manual nearby. HIghly recommended, and would love to stay again on our next trip.

Hello Steve - My wife and i are looking forward to doing some serious relaxing. I'll be looking for decent surf spots in the area. My wife will be looking for yoga classes in town or nearby. We both enjoy art, food, and hiking.
I hope the space is still available.
