  • Our visit to Madison was brief but wonderful, and Som's home and hospitality were a big reason why we enjoyed it. Communication, arrival, and departure were all a breeze, and the house was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We were able to walk and ride our bikes around the city, and enjoyed chatting with Som and getting some great biking recommendations, as well. We hope to return soon!

  • Som was a gracious and cheerful host. He says he really likes hosting guests in his home and it shows. Shelby, his German shepard was friendly and accommodating and seemed to enjoy the extra company. Som has done a lot of work Tom make this older home a really nice place. Som has two rooms, one with the attached bathroom and one without. We stayed in the one with. Both rooms are on the second level of the bungalow style home and have a window air conditioner that works quite well. Stairs to the second level are narrow. We were able to walk down to the Capitol area in about twenty minutes. The neighborhood is safe and there seem to be a lot of younger families living there. Madison is bicycle friendly and a Madison B - cycle station is about three blocks away. (5 bucks a day to use). We did not bike at all as walking was fine. A stay with Som is like home away from home.

  • i'd stayed with som before during the thanksgiving week of 2013 so the fact that i chose to stay with him for commencement weekend should be feedback enough. as before, som went out of his way to help. we knew that getting a taxi to take us to the campus may be a problem given the influx of visitors but som was kind enough to give us a ride there.

the place was more or less the same as it was the previous time (as was shelby: she barked when we came in to tell us that she owned the place but was happy to share it with us during our stay :)). the kitchen was well stocked so whipping up breakfast in the mornings was easy.

the neighborhood is quiet but not too far from the capitol area as well as to restaurants, bars, etc on williamson street. having the avis location just around the corner helped.

all in all, a brief but nice stay.

  • We had a great stay at Som's this past weekend. The parking space in the back was a huge plus and getting into his place was a snap. The house has a ton of charm and the room and private bathroom were nicely decorated and spotless. While our schedules didn't have us cross paths, Som was very easy to communicate with via email. We'd definitely recommend staying with Som if you've got plans near the State Capitol.

  • Our first trip to Madison and first stay in an Airbnb was a fantastic experience, thanks to Som! The room was clean, quiet and met the needs of me and my girlfriend, as we visited town for a show at the Majestic Theatre. We were a short walk away from the Capital, and in what seemed to be a safe neighborhood. Som exceeded my expectations as a host, and I'd definitely keep him in mind for future trips to Madison.

  • I just moved to Madison and was looking for a short term place as I got my bearings of the city, and I could not have chosen a better way to settle in. Som was a wonderful host, and was helpful in getting me settled in with his knowledge of the city and his experience with international guests. The location is terrific and very walkable to the square and Willy street. The room itself was clean, quiet and cozy. I would highly recommend Som's place for visitors to Madison.

  • Som is a very gracious host! His home is beautiful and comfortable, and he welcomes you to the entire house. His place is an easy walk to downtown, making it great if you're interested in visiting a Madison restaurant. This was my first Airbnb reservation, and Som's efforts made it a very positive experience.

I've lived in Madison for over 10 years now and absolutely love it. Madison is the only city in the world built on an ishtmus (the strip of land between two lakes), and I'm fortunate enough to live on that isthmus. By profession I am a project manager and business analyst. I've spent the last 6 years helping to design and implement IT systems projects for insurance companies around Madison. I recently received my MBA from the UW-Madison. In my personal time I love play league volleyball, explore Madison's amazing restaurant scene, and to volunteer with my local Rotary club. My dog Shelby has been my companion for nearly 10 years now. She was a handful as a puppy, but has grown into a gentle and calm old girl. I walk several miles a day with her rain or shine, and I love that she keeps me active.
