About this listing
Nestled in the hills opposite Todi lies our centuries old property refurbished 2014.
Comprised of a 3 bedrooms stone house with fireplace, 18 mt infinity pool, kids' playground and surrounded by 40 hectares of private oak wood and an olive groove.
You'd be renting the whole property, nearest neighbour is 1 km away.
The house is reached driving on a private road bordered with secular trees, one of them certified 500 years old.
A 18 mt infinity pool overlooking the valley gives for amazing sunsets also features hidrojets for a massage with a glass of italian wine.
We thought about your children and we have built a "pirate ship" game park for them, on top of a kid's pool attached to the adult one.
The property includes a 30 hectares wood that covers half of the hill which makes for great walks and mountain bike rides in the nature; you will find water creeks, wild plants and a medieval tower that lays on top of the hill.
We own a farming ground where our centuries old olive trees gift us every year with a superb extra virgin olive oil (you will always find some in the kitchen).
Our estate is an historical one. Garibaldi the national hero that unified Italy in the 19th Century slept on our estate in the summer 1849 along with his wife.
They were on the run along with a small army of volunteer soldiers after the ruinous ending of the “Repubblica Romana” a shortly lived experience of democratic republic values, based on universal right of vote for all men and women, freedom of religion, abolition of death penalty and transformation of the papal power in a pure spiritual one.
Sadly they were too ahead of time....
The republic was overthrown 5 months after its establishment by french troops sent by Napoleon III restablishing the temporal power of Pope Pius IX. Garibaldi and his pregnant wife (brasilian of birth and an amazon in character) fled Rome and headed to the free republic of Venice and where given shelter on our estate by Antonio Valente. The naval army of Napoleon III stopped them before they could get in Venice and Anita Garibaldi and the child she carried died few days later of an unknown fever.
The property will have no other guests.
There is an outdoor area with table for "al fresco" eating and a barbecue.
It includes 4 hammocks and a table football (fussball).
There is also a oven for bread and pizza.
Two adult bycicles, one teenager bike, two children bikes and 4 sunbeds.
Interaction with Guests
You will be received by a person who speaks some english and italian. She will introduce you to the house and the area. Providing informations on local markets, village fairs and outdoor activities.

We've spent two fantastic weeks at Fabio's house. As this year's month of July has been the hottest in at least ten years, we've spent a lot of time by the magnificent pool with stunning views. What's more, we've made good use of the large stone BBQ, pizza oven and luxurious hammocks, in one of which our baby has taken her daily naps. Fabio has been very helpful from the first inquiry, and from what we've seen in Umbria, Todi and its surroundings is one of the most picturesque areas in this part of Italy.
casa stupenda da sognare....torniamo sicuramente. laura era gentilissima e sempre a nostra disposizione. grazie, laura!
casa pefetta anche con bambini per visistare la bellissima umbria
We (couple with a small child of almost 1 year), were looking for a private house with a swimming pool in beautiful Umbria. After much searching we found Palazzaccio Todi Estate, which appeared to be exactly what we were looking for.
And we were not wrong!
The description turned out to be accurate. The pool is wonderful and the view is amazing (no Photoshop in the pictures!).
Although the owner, Fabs, was not around at the time of our visit, he was in close contact with us via Whatsapp making sure everything was ok. In his absence we were well looked after by Laura and her sister.
The lane to the house is lovely, and the house turned out to be bigger than expected. Although it was getting hot outside, the house inside stayed nice and cool. The window screens were perfect to keep any insects out.
However Fabs did not quite mention everything about the place. We were taken by surprise of the view of hunderds of fireflies (love bugs :) ) outside the house at night. Amazing to be able to see this.
The sound of an owl in the forest at night (don’t worry it will not keep you awake). Little lizards sunbathing during the day. And many more things.
A big supermarket is 10 minutes drive away, and the same goes for Todi itself. Also there other nice places in the area. We were able to make lots of nice day trips, as well as relax by the house (hammocks outside, nice seating area), and it's possible to have a nice hike through the forest.
We already decided we will come back here next year!
Amazing place to stay - just a short trip from Todi, the house has an incredible infinity pool that looks right across the hills to Todi in the distance. The house is really spacious and there are plenty of places to relax. Outside you can walk directly into the countryside from the house, read a book in one of the four hammocks under the pergola outside or, of course, spend your time in the pool. Fabio and his brother Paolone are both incredibly friendly and helpful and do everything to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
We would recommend a meal in the nearby village of Ilci at the 'Osteria Novecento' - around 20 minutes by car from the house.
Wish we could have stayed at Palazzaccio Todi for longer!
We LOVED it.The perfect place to stay! It is obvious that Fabs has put lots of dedication and love in the house. Its vibes are awesome.
Everything you can wish for is available. Heaps of information on where to go or what to do was sent to us on forehand. Both elegant and medieval towns in short distance, good restaurants, walking on the property, you name it. However it was hard to leave the place, the peace and the beauty. The swimming pool tempting, the hanging chairs ultimately inviting.
The housekeeper was very friendly, perfectly willing to help and a perfect assistent to our great host.
This property is FANTASTIC. We loved everything about it. The view is divine, the cottage is so lovely and the owners have fitted it with beautiful pieces. Every room is unique and just beautiful. We loved staying here so much and would love to return. Fabs the host is just wonderful, he sent us a really helpful email before we stayed with information on the property and the area (including interesting facts about the house). Couldn't recommend him or his property highly enough.
The house is in a wonderful remote location and ideal for getting away from it all. We were met by Laura who was super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The house has lovely large rooms and is finished in a stylish manner (although did make me worry the children would break things!). Unfortunately the heating broke down after our first night, but Fabio and Laura did everything they could as quickly as possible to get things back up and running.
I am really sorry I didn't make it to leave you a review in time.
You and your family have been amazing guests and took great care of the house. Thank you for stopping by, i sincerely hope to see you again sometime in the future.
I wish you good trips ahead of you !
