  • Nina and Richard were gracious, interesting hosts. Our room was exactly as portrayed in the photos. It was comfortable and private. We spent a couple of mornings sharing stories about travels around brilliant espresso and cappuccino prepared by them. Nina and Richard also provided us with a great list of restaurants, vineyards and attractions.

    Hey Sandy & Randy-
We're expecting you to be our neighbors some time in the future!

  • Nina's suite was fantastic. Nice bed, the rest of the large bedroom was well appointed with big tv, tasteful furniture, a nice bathroom and great reading nook next to large windows overlooking a beautiful garden. Bedroom had a private entrance, and stairs up to the second floor, so you really feel like it's your own private apartment. My date and I were in town for a wedding so got in late at night, but Nina left easy to follow directions to get in, so it all was a breeze(and even kindly offered coffee and tea in the morning, which we declined as we had to get on the road, but still!). Would have loved to have stayed longer!

Nice to have you even if it was brief!

  • Nina and Richard gracefully opened their home to us with uncommonly warm hospitality. They kindly invited us to share appetizers with them on their bucolic deck overlooking a garden full of fruit trees. The apartment is perched over the garage on an endearing hidden street just two or three blocks quiet walk from the village center, where there are several renowned restaurants. We enjoyed sitting in the little reading corner that overlooks their garden. We canoed down the Russian River using their recommended rental place (just 5 minutes drive). Although we enjoyed having the spot as a base from which to explore the Russian River, we wish we had more time with Nina and Richard.

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful words. It was a pleasure to host the two of you and I hope your music experience in Kentucky is all you want it to be!

  • About halfway into our two-hour pastoral backroad journey from San Francisco, we got a text from Nina asking us when we would arrive, and whether we would like for her to make us some dinner reservations. This really set the tone for the rest of the weekend as Nina, her husband Richard, and their Australian shepherd Rose and affectionate cat Olive proved to be our most gracious airbnb hosts yet. We arrived greeted by Rose quickly followed by Nina, who showed us the awesome private loft with our own entrance and bathroom. Richard joined us halfway into the offered Lillet and crackers to have a genuinely interesting conversation about Chicago, chickens, and Sonoma county. Sparing the rest of the details, Nina and Richard were super gracious the rest of the time, and did everything the could to make us feel at home. Needless to say, I can't recommend these guys more highly.

A note on convenience -- Forestville itself is a pretty small town on the river, but it's 15 minutes from a 24-hour Safeway in Guernesville and just 25 minutes (via more pretty, engaging roads) from good wine and serious eats in Healdsburg.

  • We loved our 3 night stay in Nina's guest room. The neighborhood and the grounds were just lovely, it was quite, very convenient in location to everything (vineyards, etc) and Nina was a simply wonderful host.

We will stay there again for sure.

  • Our stay with Nina and Richard was wonderful. Not only was their home comfortable and beautiful, but they were also both amazing hosts - from making us espresso in the morning, to leaving us cookies for when we came home and giving us great advice on bike routes, restaurants, and wineries nearby - our stay was simply perfect.

  • Nice welcoming host and provides everything you need for a pleasant stay. The grounds are lovely. The room is extremely private and spacious with a private bathroom, nice towels and toiletries. Very comfortable bed (and I am very fussy). If you are looking for a hotel experience this is not for you; it is more like staying at the home of a good friend with great knickknacks and interesting ethnic arts and crafts around the room. There is a neat little reading corner three steps up. I highly recommend this place and hope to return!

  • My husband and I enjoyed a delightful stay. Nina and Richard were extremely welcoming with the perfect balance of warmth and hospitality. Their home is full of intriguing nicknacks which gives a peek into the couple's fascinating travels. We travel up to Sonoma regularly and hope to stay at the N&R bed and breakfast again soon! Until then, extra pets to Rose.

  • Nina is one of the most delightful hosts I have had the pleasure to stay with! She and her husband Richard (and their Aussie dog Rose) really made us feel welcome from the moment we first came over...
Their place is in the country and boy was it the most beautiful and cozy spot to 'come home' to, my boyfriend Andrew and I really fell in love right away...We were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and were so pleased at the perfect balance of privacy and inclusion they were offering. Nina even went to pick some fresh mint from her garden for my tea since they didn't have it in bags or loose. She left us a fresh water pitcher with glasses and even treated us to some cookies and dessert.
The place is definitely not for those looking for hotel level accommodation but for those looking for a truly wonderful 'down home' experience, their place is heaven! There is even a sweet little loft for reading and plenty of books around in case you forget to pack yours...Andrew and I will definitely be back and have already recommended a friend to stay with Nina and Richard.
Thank you both so much for helping make our anniversary feel like a true celebration of love and connection!

We've been married for years- with three grown children, a dog, cat and 5 chickens. My husband and I both love to garden, cook and have a great library. We have traveled extensively and go hiking all over, especially in Sonoma County which we know well. We have bikes, are near an outstanding bike path and we are also near some of the most wonderful wineries around. We're both comfortable with lots of people/children/gay or straight. And like you, we cherish our privacy too.
