I can only echo what all the other reviewers have said. It's hard to imagine a better holiday apartment: an incredibly helpful and friendly hostess who's thought of everything you could possibly need (and more),fantastic central location almost next door to the metro and the Acropolis Museum, and a beautifully decorated and comfortable apartment.
Maggie is definitely the best host I have ever met. She is very friendly and helpful and provided many good suggestions and useful tips. She even helped us booked our hotel at Paros, and our trip would never have been such great without her! Maggie's apartment is neat and tidy and gave us a very comfortable stay.
The apartment is big, comfortable, and magnificent, located in a very stylish building in the best area of Athens, only a few steps away of the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum. The street is lovely and extremely safe, quiet and yet very close to a pedestrian street full with restaurants and cafe. I could not have thought of anywhere better to spend my days in Athens! The place itself has absolutely everything you need for your stay. It's fully equipped (from DVDs to umbrellas, from tourist books to wet cloth hangers!). And, as if this were not enough, the host is the best you can have. Maggie is ALWAYS available, she takes the best care of her guests and is very interested in asking if something else is needed. The best host ever! She even left me some Greek specialties when I arrived! A completely thoughtful person… So the experience was top fantastic! This apartment is a must if you come to wonderful Athens!
This was the most comfortable vacation stay I've ever had.
The location is ideal, especially if you're visiting Athens for the first time. It was also great for me that I usually go out in the center, when I'm there. It's literally 2 minutes walk from the Acropolis metro station and not more than 8 minutes to the Acropolis museum entrance. It's next to the pedestrian road that runs at the front of the acropolis rock, which, because of the Acropoplis, I find one of the most beautiful pedestrianized roads in Europe.
The apartment is fantastic. It's in an 1930's block of flats, but it's freshly painted with the kitchen and bathroom being entirely new. That is the best combination, as it has the high ceilings of older buildings but also everything looks new. The rooms are quite spacious and very nicely furnished. More importantly, it was spotlessly clean.
Maggie was an amazing host. She had amazing home made traditional Greek Christmas sweets and home made marmalade waiting for us in the flat, as well as a bottle of very nice Greek wine! She was very polite with us and both proactively asked whether we need anything and was responding to our messages timely through airbnb. She has even assembled a list of events happening in December in Athens. There's no chance you can find anything close to this kind of service in any hotel. Definitely not anyone that enjoys hosting people as much.
This was my first experience with an airbnb booking and I'm going to use the service whenever I have the chance when I travel. As for Athens that I travel to at least once a year, I will always check if Maggie's flat is available first before considering anything else.
If you're thinking of booking it, just go for it. It's just amazing.
I can't say enough about Maggie and our stay at her wonderful Greece apartment. Before we even left for Greece, she provided us with a wealth of information including, restaurants, taverns and attractions. She stayed up late waiting and worrying about us when our flight arrived late and took time away from her own Christmas holiday to assist us with locating our lost luggage. We were welcomed with home made Christmas cookies and a small decorated Christmas tree. There was a well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Maggie truly seems to have thought of everything. The apartment is well situated across from a small grocery store and within walking distance to all major attractions. It is a beautiful and spotless apartment, where we felt VERY much at home :-) I would highly recommend staying here for your stay in Greece!
The Appt is located in an amazing location, just next to the Acropolis and few meters from Plaka area. The flat is exactly as the pictures show however in reality is even more confortable and cozy,it really felt like home:-) Very clean with ALL what you ever need for you stay.
Very homely feel, with all the modern amenities you could need. Great convenient location too!
Only Zeus himself could tear us away from Maggie's wonderful apartment under the acropolis.
First, Maggie's apartment is incredibly located and yet somehow very quiet. She sent detailed and easy to follow instructions to get to the apartment, which could have been a disaster since we had been traveling for two days and were horribly jet lagged when we arrived. But, thanks to Maggie, we found the apartment without a single problem.
Second, Maggie met us at the apartment and instantly made us feel like we were good friends. She had snacks, water, wine and other things on hand for us so we wouldn't have to rush out that evening. Most notably, however, Maggie had a giant tray of fresh Christmas cookies on the dining table for us. I think between those cookies and her homemade jam (which I believe my husband polished off) I am positive we both left Athens a few pounds heavier and happier. Maggie was also wonderful at helping us figure out which tavernas would offer meatless options for us. Besides the wonderful list she gives to her guests with suggestions, Maggie went above and beyond to help us in this matter to make sure we were happy. On that note, she emailed us a day after our arrival to add two more places we might try with vegetarian options.
As for the apartment itself, well, Maggie has wonderful taste. The apartment is both modern and traditional. All the modern conveniences you could want in the kitchen and bathroom with the warmth of an antique dining table, which is perfect for scrabble games and wine after a long day of sightseeing.
If we should ever be fortunate enough to return to Athens again I hope we will be equally lucky enough to stay at Maggie's lovely apartment under the acropolis. Highly recommended!
Not only the apartment had an amazing location (we wouldn't have bought a subway ticket had we known!), was immaculately decorated and had everything we need (from breakfast snacks to a medicine cabinet), Maggie's list of things to see and do pretty much defined our trip. Awesome apartment and host, can't recommend enough.
What a fabulous experience! Although we have done quite a bit of travel this was a double header of firsts for us: first time in Greece, first time booking through airbnb. They were both home runs! Maggie's place is right in the middle of all the excitement of Athens! For 3 days we felt like we were living in our own apartment with all the benefits of home! The apartment is on the ground floor, spacious and clean! There was everything you could want and then some. When we arrived Maggie greeted us with sweet rolls, coffee and tea were in the kitchen. Considering we had had to get up at 3am to catch our flight we were more than delighted! Maggie is a superb hostess with the mostest! Can't wait to go back and spend more time in "our" Athens apartment!
