Bowness and Windermere are very popular Lake District destinations and there are no shortage of places to eat!

Windermere is a delightful village lying at the heart of the Lake District National Park and to many is the essence of Cumbria - The Lake District. The village owes much to the coming of the Kendal to Windermere Railway in 1847 which precipitated much of the lovely Victorian architecture which was built for the rapid increase in tourist visitors brought by the railway. Surrounded by watchful fells, Lake Windermere - England's longest lake - is only a 20 minute stroll away at Bowness Bay, home to The Beatrix Potter Museum and where the lake steamers plough the length of the lake giving visitors an outstanding view of this glorious landscape. To the north lies the honeypot villages of Ambleside and onto Grasmere, much loved by Lakeland poet William Wordsworth with its famous gingerbread shop and annual sports. All this and so much more bring thousands of tourists each year to this glorious corner of England.

  • I'm afraid the accommodation did not live up to the description provided on the airbnb site. It was most disappointing.

    Response from Rob & Becky:

You came at 10.30pm very tired and late after being stuck in traffic. You only syayed for one night and left at 8am the next morning. 50 other guests have stayed in this same room and have left glowing reviews. I am sure if you paid double the money and stayed in a hotel you would not be happy either. What does any one have to do to please people like you?

  • Our four days stay in Rob and Becky's house was amazing. They help us to plan our daily trips around the lakes providing us maps and guides. We were surprised about the breakfast becky prepared for us, it was jummy and awesome. Their two lovely kids welcomed us with the best smiles we have ever seen, inviting us to play and have fun for a while! Definitely recomended to stay there in your trip to the Lakes. Thanks for everything! :)
