Bowness and Windermere are very popular Lake District destinations and there are no shortage of places to eat!
Windermere is a delightful village lying at the heart of the Lake District National Park and to many is the essence of Cumbria - The Lake District. The village owes much to the coming of the Kendal to Windermere Railway in 1847 which precipitated much of the lovely Victorian architecture which was built for the rapid increase in tourist visitors brought by the railway. Surrounded by watchful fells, Lake Windermere - England's longest lake - is only a 20 minute stroll away at Bowness Bay, home to The Beatrix Potter Museum and where the lake steamers plough the length of the lake giving visitors an outstanding view of this glorious landscape. To the north lies the honeypot villages of Ambleside and onto Grasmere, much loved by Lakeland poet William Wordsworth with its famous gingerbread shop and annual sports. All this and so much more bring thousands of tourists each year to this glorious corner of England.
Thanks to Becky, Rob and their lovely children for being wonderful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Lake district.
We had a great one night stay at Rob and Beckys house in the beautiful lake district. We arrived on the train with our bikes and their house was a simple 5 minute cycle away. They kindly let us store our bikes in their secure back garden and even put a tarp over them. Lovely room and great selection at breakfast. Rob and Beckys kids are super cute and we had a lot of fun at breakfast time.
Rob & Becky are great people, helped me with everything. Definitely recommend to everyone
Rob & Becky' house is very nice, we stayed 3 days there, and with a 3rd day complementary, which is very nice. The room is clean and comfortable with a private bathroom. Most important was the kids, Alex and Katie, they brought us a lot fun. We really enjoyed a lot when we were there. Thanks Rob, Becky, Alex and Katie.
Bob & Becky
Thank you for your wonderful pizza!
Thanks for the drawings from two kids.
We spent two unforgetable days in our home.
The room is warm and comfortable.
Finally, thank you for moving such heavy luggages for us.
An absolutely amazing experience! I really felt like home and had the best sleep in a long time. Rob was so kind to pick me up at the station at 11pm and prepared me orange juice! The room was perfect with everything you would expect from a real proper bed & breakfast really. Although the private shower wasn't working very well when I arrived, Becky & Rob kindly let me use their own shower. The toilet was loud but it wouldn't affect your experience at this lovely place at all. Breakfast was amazing. The kids were so adorable. I really enjoyed playing with them :D
15-minute walk to Windermere train station and 20-minute walk to Bowness where you can take the cruise to Ambleside and Lakeside.
I would definitely want to stay there again if I go to the lake district.
It was an unfortunately pouring day and we had too much luggage, therefore we were caught wet and cold in the rain finding the place. Will recommend a taxi to the place from the railway station for those with heavy baggage and especially if it's raining. Other than that, Rob and Becky have been wonderful! The moment we got in, seeing that we were all wet and cold, they offered to helped wipe our luggage for us and even carried our luggage up for us which is a very welcoming touch. Alex and Katie were really cute and friendly as well. The room is very compact but has everything any traveller will need. The best part is the ensuite toilet. Albeit small, but it's enough:)
Rob and Becky were very trusting with us, leaving us full control with the house! They left wonderful breakfasts for us! =) Love it!
It is walking distance to Bowness as well which has wonderful attractions like the Beatrix Potter Museum and the wonderful lake cruises. :)
very friendly comfortable and pleasant, the en-suite is too small, but all that can be achieved in the space,
Rob and Becky are great hosts. Very welcoming and helpful. Thank you for a great time in the Lakes District.
