Bowness and Windermere are very popular Lake District destinations and there are no shortage of places to eat!
Windermere is a delightful village lying at the heart of the Lake District National Park and to many is the essence of Cumbria - The Lake District. The village owes much to the coming of the Kendal to Windermere Railway in 1847 which precipitated much of the lovely Victorian architecture which was built for the rapid increase in tourist visitors brought by the railway. Surrounded by watchful fells, Lake Windermere - England's longest lake - is only a 15 minute stroll away at Bowness Bay, home to The Beatrix Potter Museum and where the lake steamers plough the length of the lake giving visitors an outstanding view of this glorious landscape. To the north lies the honeypot villages of Ambleside and onto Grasmere, much loved by Lakeland poet William Wordsworth with its famous gingerbread shop and annual sports. All this and so much more bring thousands of tourists each year to this glorious corner of England.

We stayed 2 nights with Becky and Rob in their house, which was ideal for exploring the Lakes District. Room was at the top of the stairs, so three flights. Didn't bother us but some may prefer a room at a lower level. The room itself was very nice and clean. Bathroom modern, though some may find it a bit small if you are larger. Breakfast was fantastic with the bigger list of options seen on our trip. A great place to stay thanks.
Unfortunately due to car breakdown ( on first day of its life!) we could not manage to arrive . I had very much looked forward to a local walk to oorst head and a relaxing time in beautiful surrounds .. Maybe next time ..
Becky is a very friendly host and makes a lovely hot breakfast with a wide selection of choices. The bedroom and bathroom are very compact and clean. We had many stairs to go up so if this would be a problem for you , ask for one of the rooms lower down. A good location for the Lakes District.
Staying here was the most lovely experience and the highlight of my time in Europe so far. The BnB is in a great location - in a pretty quiet street which is walking distance from the train station, Windermere town and Bowness-on-Windermere. Rob and Becky were extremely friendly and welcoming and gave great tips on what to do and where to go in the Lake District. The room and bathroom were very clean and cosy and I loved the little touches such as the kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was delicious. The kids were also delightful! Highly recommended - thanks so much for such a fantastic experience :)
Rob and Becky's b&b is located on a cute side street in Windermere, close to shopping yet still far enough away from the hustle and bustle. It's in a great location, not too far from Bowness-on-Windermere, either, and very easy to walk around.
My mom and I enjoyed our two night stay, especially the breakfasts! Our train leaving Winderwere left earlier than their breakfast hours, but Becky kindly prepared food for us to eat before we left.
We also appreciated the electric kettle in our room for preparing tea/hot drinks.
Thanks for a lovely stay! :)
Rob and Becky helped us a lot in many ways. Since the weather was so bad when we arrived in Windermere, they guided us what to show and where to go and borrowed umbrellas for us! Moreover, Becky's breakfast was superb and delicious as well. I definitely recommend this place who are coming to Windermere.
Everything is so perfect. Breakfast, room preparing and traveling guide. They are very friendly and kind to us and their children are very lovely! Highly recommended.
