Orrest Head is well worth an hours evening stroll to the top to see the magnificant sunset over Lake Windermere and disappearing behind the Lake District mountains.
(weather permitting of course!).

Things to do in the area :With more than 2,000 miles of rights of way, you can walk, cycle and ride around the beautiful Lake District countryside to your heart's content. And of course you can also get on the water of our lakes and coastline.

Bowness and Windermere are very popular Lake District destinations and there are no shortage of places to eat!

Windermere is a delightful village lying at the heart of the Lake District National Park and to many is the essence of Cumbria - The Lake District. The village owes much to the coming of the Kendal to Windermere Railway in 1847 which precipitated much of the lovely Victorian architecture which was built for the rapid increase in tourist visitors brought by the railway. Surrounded by watchful fells, Lake Windermere - England's longest lake - is only a 15 minute stroll away at Bowness Bay, home to The Beatrix Potter Museum and where the lake steamers plough the length of the lake giving visitors an outstanding view of this glorious landscape. To the north lies the honeypot villages of Ambleside and onto Grasmere, much loved by Lakeland poet William Wordsworth with its famous gingerbread shop and annual sports. All this and so much more bring thousands of tourists each year to this glorious corner of England.

The room's clean, warm and comfortable and you can hear the river (or stream?) nearby. The house is well located in relation to places to eat and visit with lake windermere an easy half an hour's walk away, and Rob and Becky are extremely friendly and knowledgable about the local area's history and attractions and made our stay run very smoothly, we really enjoyed meeting them! I'd absolutely recommend Rob and Becky's room as a base for exploring the lakes and would happily come again.

Great accommodation at a reasonable price. A quiet location, within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants of Windermere, as well as the lake. Rob and Becky were excellent hosts who made us very welcome, and provided breakfast of a high standard. Thank you!

Rob and Becky were really warm and welcoming! They gave great recommendations on where we should visit during our stay, and helped to heat our meals up when they got cold. We had to check out earlier than breakfast time, and Rob and Becky even packed breakfast for our journey ahead. Thanks for hosting us! :)
