My experience with G.J was not pleasant.
1. I was able to call him to arrange my stay and one of his questions were "what do I think about democracy?" And he commented on his question by saying "so if I shoot you then you shoot me back". My transaction was processed and I booked the place last minute otherwise I would not have stayed at G.J.'s place after hearing these comments.
2. I got a parking ticket for parking on his front yard at the grass area (which where G.J. asked me to park my rental car). G.J. said he will take care of the parking ticket so he asked me to authorize him to fight my ticket on my behalf which I did, let's see if he keeps his word by fighting the ticket and paying any expenses that result from it. After consulting a specialist I was told that parking on the grass is wrong and I have to pay the ticket. I hope G.J. Would pay it even after reading this review.
One good thing was the other person living in his basement was friendly and a nice person that I enjoyed sharing the place with.
I was NOT going to accept Mo Loulou's reservation but after speaking to him via telephone and also having a discussion with him on the joys of Canada's Freedom & Democracy, I allowed him his reservation. It was only for a two nights anyway. We have never had parking tickets before. This is a first! So as a result, I accepted his parking ticket and offered to take it before London's Parking Authority. After discussions them, I am confident that Mo will pay nothing.
I had a room in the basement and shared kitchen with two others. the kitchen was a big mess when I arrived but it was quickly cleaned up by the others. as I did not have a vehicle it convenient to have a bus stop nearby and the bus goes to the city centre. I would recommend this and it is good value.
Great place to stay in a quiet, residential area with easy access to all main roads. Clean, warm, windowed room in finished basement. Parking right outside. Good wifi signal. Fell asleep to gentle melodies picked quietly on guitar by student(s) also staying in household. Mr. Rancourt is a busy man, but an exceptional host! ... opens house and home to his guests. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. Thanks for everything, and hope to be back someday!
About the Host, G.J.
Quebecer by birth, G. J. Rancourt own ancestor arrived in the City of Quebec from France in 1658.
G. J. came to Waterloo Ontario, to study business administration at Wilfred Laurier University. Four years later, he graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) Degree. Eventually over the ensuing years he also completed a Bachelor of Education (B. of Ed.) degree at Althouse College–University of Western Ontario and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Thunderbird, Graduate School of International Management in Arizona USA. It was at Thunderbird that G. J. learned to speak his 3rd language–that of Espanol.

While mentioning Costa Rica, it might also he fitting at this juncture, to mention that G. J.’s lovely Latina wife, Ingrith, is from this same country in Central America. G.J. stole her away from the President of the University of Costa Rica where she was his Executive Secretary. The President was not happy, but G.J. surely is! They are now happily living in London, Ontario.
