Nestled in the midst of Sydney’s Inner West, Marrickville is as funky, artsy and historical area, with plenty of great coffee shops, wonderful (and reasonably priced) restaurants, great op-shopping, and of course the famous Marrickville markets. The Addison Rd markets are held every Sunday, just steps from our house, and there you can sample everything from beautifully created clothing and knick knacks to hand-smoked salmon, organic foods, raw desserts, tarot readings and the chai tent. It’s a lovely day out! If you are a coffee enthusiast – Coffee Alchemy is just a few blocks from where we are – it’s a specialist coffee house and people come from all parts of Sydney to sample their wares. We’re also close to one of the best bakeries in Sydney, and a branch of the Sydney fish markets if you like your fresh food.
Marrickville is 7km from Sydney city – a very easy drive, but we prefer to get there by public transport as it can be very difficult to park in Sydney. Trains and buses can get you to all the main attractions in Sydney: Circular Quay (15 minutes by train) for the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, as well as easy access to the Botanical Gardens and the NSW and MCA art galleries, and the famous area “The Rocks”; Newtown and Enmore (5 minutes by bus) for more exploring of trendy restaurants, theatres and shopping; Surrey Hills and Redfern (10 minutes by bus) are fun for going out at night and more restaurants; Oxford St (15 minutes by train) for real fun out on the town; and the famous Bondi and Coogee beaches (30 minutes by bus) are not too far away. The bus stop is 2 minutes walk – the train station is 10minutes walk.
Another alternative for getting around the city (it’s our preference), is by bike – it’s a great way to see Sydney and it’s very easy – at times our two bikes can be made available for you during your stay.
Rusty has lived in Sydney all his life, and Willow knows it very well also, so if you let us know what you would like to explore here, we can point you in the right direction – and give you a real taste of the local flavor.
If you rent the entire house, you probably won't see much of us, but it's always good to know some things about your hosts. HI, we are Rusty and Willow – we’re 34 years old, and a couple. Rusty is a musician by trade, and Willow is life coach and is studying her Masters in Creative Writing at Sydney University. We have both travelled a lot ourselves, and we love travel, exploring the world and meeting new people. We would love to welcome you into our home – we are very proud of the gorgeous environment we have created here – we keep it very clean and nice, and will be happy to give you some great tips for exploring Sydney. We are both quite busy running our respective businesses, so you may not see too much of us during the day, but we are sure we can make you comfortable. Willow loves home cooking – so you may even be treated to a culinary delight whilst you are here!
If you do wish to book, please do email first to check availability with us as the calendar is not always up to date.
Look forward to connecting with you!

Willow and Rusty were fabulous hosts! I recommend them highly if you are visiting the Sydney area.
Willow and Rusty were fantastic hosts. I left my booking to the very last minute, just a few hrs before check-in, yet they still prepared the room and met me despite their plans for the evening. Their house is gorgeous and sunny and we shared a lovely smoothie breakfast together with their friend before I flew out the following morning. Willow was so kind to even drive me out to the station. I couldn't have asked for a better short stay in Sydney. Thanks guys!
Staying with Willow and Rusty was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. They are wise beyond their years and two of the most gracious people I’ve ever met. The house is a showpiece -- with gorgeous blond wood floors and great light throughout. The bedroom is beautiful with a new queen size bed (with a fantastic firm mattress), long pillows, and high thread count sheets. The bathroom is straight out of a style magazine with new fixtures and even a towel warmer. The location is fantastic -- Marrickville is a charming little town just a 20 minute bus ride from Sydney University and the CBD. There is a delicious Thai restaurant right around the corner (Thai Power). You’ll find wonderful Vietnamese food (Pho PhD), the best coffee you’ve ever had (Alchemy), and a hidden jazz club (Lazybones) just a ten minute walk from the house. But the real reason to stay at this house is Willow and Rusty themselves. They are two of the kindest people you will ever meet and they went out of their way to help me find my way in this new city -- providing eggs and amazing bread for breakfast, giving directions, loaning me a bike, joining up for a walk, taking me to get coffee, and always providing a good cup of tea and a long chat in the evenings. For weary travelers, Willow and Rusty are angels. They represent the best of the Air BnB experience. I highly recommend staying with them if you ever have the chance.
