Beautiful apartment located in a quiet but hip area of town. The host was warm and available, creating an inviting stay.

The apartment was very unique and in a great area of Parque Rodo. The rooftop had a great view and all the rooms had AC. The shower had low water pressure but was clean. We were close to a supermarket and a money exchange place. We were also located near several restaurants and bars. But since Uruguayans like to stay out late on weekends this meant some loud Friday and Saturday nights--from about 22:00 to 6:00. I would not recommend this for light sleepers over the weekend. Alejandra was extremely responsive and accomodating. She arranged to have someone pick us up at the airport for a small fee. The house manager and her son were particulary helpful in giving suggestions. Overall, a very memorable stay!

We never got to meet Alejandra but she did arrange for a nice man to meet us and walk us through the apartment. He did not have much English (and our Spanish is even worse) but all the critical stuff was communicated adequately. The apartment is really an architectural treat. However, there are some narrow stairs. The kitchen is basic but functional. The rooftop patio is great and includes a grill - for which Alejandra had thoughtfully provided firewood! The main bed was comfortable but small and shortish (about the size of a US double). The second bedroom had bunk beds (see below). The furniture was comfortable but limited (two chairs and a beanbag) and low. The neighborhood was difficult to judge. At no point did we feel unsafe but there were blocks nearby that were rundown. There are two large grocery stores that are close (one on the next block and another four blocks away). Taxis were relatively frequent and there are buses everywhere. Overall, no issues with the apartment. However, due to the stairs (marble and curved), I would not recommend younger ( 5 or so) children staying here.

Alejandra was an extremely responsive and caring host. Very flexible in terms of check in and check out times which was greatly appreciated! We were traveling with a three month old baby and she prepared a baby bed with linen etc! The location is between old town and pocitos/beach so you can reach almost everything within 20 minutes by foot.. Overall a very positive experience! Muy amable..

Beautiful apartment! We felt instantly at home. The terraza was the highlight for us, where we enjoyed a late night barbecue under the stars. The neighborhood is fantastic - lots of great bars and restaurants. The street noise is to be expected, but there are lulls, and after rush hour it quiets down. Alejandra was a super attentive host, promptly helping us with whatever we needed.

This is a great set-up: the terrace is wonderful to eat on and great that Alejandra left wood for an asado, which we enjoyed making. The wifi & washing machine were excellent and stove & oven worked well, bed comfortable & AC in bedroom worked (didn't try AC in other rooms). Location pluses: near bus lines, 1/2 hour walk to Pocitos beach. Drawbacks: very loud traffic on Canelones, hard to sleep in. Not very clean (whole place dusty, kitchen appliances, etc not cleaned). Hot water kettle worn out and burned your hand, only one wine glass (we had to purchase some). Cooking staples were just salt, pimenton, vinegar and about a teaspoon of turned olive oil. A lot of flies that seemed to be breeding in kitchen and plants. If the things that could be changed (not the traffic) were addressed, this would easily be a four-star rating instead of the three-stars we're giving it.

My family and I had a wonderful time staying in Alejandra's beautiful apartment in Montevideo! The apartment is in a wonderful location, on a street with many trees and close to many restaurants and bus lines. We could easily walk to Parque Rodó or Ciudad Vieja, and we always felt safe. Alejandra was very flexible about our check in and check out, and we had absolutely no problems during our stay. The apartment is so beautiful, large, airy, with very comfortable chairs and beds (and the shower is very hot!). We cooked food many nights and had dinner on the roof patio, which was fantastic.
