We have lived in this city close to 20 years, so we can help you with suggestions on places to visit, eat, etc.
Guests have access to coin operated laundry in the building in the basement. Please check with us for access. Please do not use the regular washing machine which is for the host's use only
Check-in time is 5 P.M. and check-out is 11 A.M. Smoking is not allowed. No loud music after 10 P.M. The guests are expected to clean-up after use of common kitchen and bath-room. The lights turned-off when not in use. The guests are expected to be respectful of other guests and maintain peace at all times. We live upstairs in the attic above the flat with a common entrance. Ashirvadam was a very profesional host, the neighbourhood is lovely and very fun. The house is exactly like the pictures and has a hostel feel. We had problems with our flights and Ashirvadam was kind to help us.
The place was great. Kept clean and well stocked. Ashir was very hospitable and very accomodating. I came late to check in and he made appropriate preparations so we can have access to our rooms still. I look forward to staying with Ashir in the future.
Ashir's place is in such a great location it is hard to pass up. We didn't see he or his wife much while we were there but they were still accommodating and were aware of our coming and going. He was very easy to contact and quick to respond to any of our inquiries. There were several different rooms rented out to separate Air BnB guests, which made this it feel more like a bed and breakfast stay than a home (which could be a perk for anyone who is looking for a more private feel to their stay). Ashir was kind and communicative and I am glad I stayed at his home RIGHT int he heart of Haight and Ashbury.
Ashirvadam and his wife were exceptionally welcoming. Mrs. Rayikanti met me upon arrival, gave me a tour of their charming Victorian flat and went out of her way to be friendly and inviting. I met Ashirvadam later in the stay and he too was courteous and welcoming.
The Rayikanti's AirBnB accomodations have the feel of a European pension, the entire second floor is taken up by guest rooms with a shared kitchen and bathing facilities. It was clean and quiet (I was their only guest during my stay). My room (#5) was roomy and comfortable - matching the charm of their older home.
Page street, where the Rayikanti's live, is residential and quiet, but Haight, a block south is a busy commercial street with shops, bars, and cafes. The Neighborhood, Haight Ashbury, is famous as the center of hippie and alternative culture - as such you get an eclectic mix of people on the street, I would advise female travelers staying with the Rayikanti's to be aware of their surroundings at night, but no more so than one would be in any urban environment. There were plenty of people on the street, even late.
The neighborhood is central to almost every part of San Francisco, so as long as you are willing to use public transit, this is a great area to use as a base to enjoy San Francisco. In the neighborhood I recommend Zam Zam (lovely little cocktail bar), Coffee to the People, and the Recycled Records shop.
Everything during my stay was as described. Even though I didn't personally meet Ashirvadam, he made sure I had no problems with check in. I would certainly recommend staying at his place.
The listing description was accurate. I arrived late, and Ashirvadam was very accommodating. I was very happy with the ease of the stay.

I live in the building with my wife. I work as a hospice chaplain and my wife a teacher and we both work in the city. Our two adult children are studying medicine on the East Coast. I love getting to know new people, love traveling, enjoy cooking spicy Indian food for my family & friends, love watching sports on TV and listening to music on the radio. I love helping people in their most vulnerable times and that is why I am a hospice chaplain. My life's motto is 'life is an adventure-live it to the fullest while you have it'....
