Planning a trip to San Francisco? Then why not stay in the heart of the city in the historic Haight Ashbury district. Located in a classic 1907 Victorian building, we have a fully furnished 2 units available for BNB guests.
We have #1 and #2 (bed-rooms) in our basement unit (level 1) already open for BNB guests. We are now opening 4 bed rooms as #3, #4, #5 and # 6 on level 3 in the Victorian flat. These private rooms can be booked separately by individuals or the whole flat can be booked for a party of 8 people. There is a large common kitchen and 1.5 bath-room . There is also a green room behind the kitchen leading to a deck and stairs to the large back-yard. Please check out the pictures of the flat and the individual rooms, the common bath-room, kitchen and common areas.
#5 is a good-sized furnished bed room (12 by 14) with two beds with three large bay-windows with lots of sun-shine and beautiful view the alley. There is also a walk-in little medicine chest room with old, unused sink. There is also a table and a chair with a little closet.
Feel free to browse through the pictures to get a better idea, but here's a quick description:
-LOCATION, Location, Location!! With Haight street literally being just a block away, there are never ending options for restaurants, pubs, shops, health food stores, boutiques & cafes
Extremely convenient public transportation: adjacent to 6 & 71 bus lines which take you straight down Market Street into the heart of San Francisco, also adjacent to the 43 bus line and two blocks from the 33 which takes you to the Mission District.
- Great food and bars! Across the street is Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery, and all less than 5 minutes away are: Squat & Gobble Cafe & Crepery, Pork Store Cafe, The Alembic, Hobson's Choice, and Cha Cha Cha.
- Many excellent grocery stores: Haight Street Market is 1.5 blocks away, Whole Foods is 5 blocks down Haight Street, and a new brand new Bi-Rite Store just opened up 8 blocks away.
- Boutique shopping galore: tons of specialty shops, thrift shops, and high end clothing stores right here on Haight Street.
-A post office is half a block away, so feel free to drop off a postcard to your friends/family on your walk to Haight Street.
-With its rich history, walking down Haight street is definitely an experience and gives you insight into why this was the heart of the Hippie movement! Diverse crowds and unique shops are all part of the experience.
-If you like to run/bike/or just enjoy being outdoors, you are in luck. Our house is a block away from the pan handle park. If you want the real deal, then just walk down three blocks and find yourself at the start of Golden Gate Park, where there are multiple museums (Academy of Sciences, Flower Conservatory, etc) and year around events. Always something to do here!
-If you are a fan of water, then a quick 15 minute drive away is the Pacific Ocean, where on warm and yes even cold weekends, people can be found lounging, surfing, swimming, etc!
-A bike rental place is a few blocks down, so this is another fantastic way to explore the city on a bike. You can put your bike in the back yard or the garage.
My wife and I live in the upstairs unit of the building. We are both working professionals and are home usually in the evenings. However, I can be reached via cell phone 24/7. The great thing about living on site is it allows us to address any questions/concerns you may have. We are both laid back and respectful. We have lived in this city close to 20 years, so we can help you with suggestions on places to visit, eat, etc.
Guests have access to coin operated laundry in the building in the basement. Please check with us for access. Please do not use the regular washing machine which is for the host's use only
Check-in time is 5 P.M. and check-out is 11 A.M. Smoking is not allowed. No loud music after 10 P.M. The guests are expected to clean-up after use of common kitchen and bath-room. The lights turned-off when not in use. The guests are expected to be respectful of other guests and maintain peace at all times. We live upstairs in the attic above the flat with a common entrance. Please note that recycling material should be put in the bin in the back room. Please call ahead of time on my cell (phone number hidden) inform us the time of your arrival and departure from the apartment. Thank you and hope you enjoy your stay with us.
This place is ok. You have easy access to public transportation and Golden Gate park. Ashirvadam might have been preoccupied with work, but he was short in his recommendations, simply saying go to the beach and the piers. That was it.
The bed was incredibly hard (I've slept on more comfortable cots in fact), and the entire place was run down. 3 out of 5 lights in the bathroom were burnt out, the hallways were always dark because he would turn the lights out, and he would never leave the outside lights on, making it difficult to get in at night with the two different locks on the front door, and three different keys provided.
Did I mention the mold in the bathroom? Oh yeah, there is mold in the bathroom. First off the bathroom tub is black, with little to nothing besides a towel available. The bathroom is shared so you need to bring shower shoes to, FYI.
Lastly, he did not inform me of parking options and how parking works in the city. He merely stated park around the block, when I asked before arrival. It took me over a half hour to find a place, once I realized the streets were only closed for cleaning a couple of hours per day.
If you're looking for a relaxing stay where you can feel comfortable going in and out as you please, this is not the place. If you need a place to crash for a night because you're traveling through, go ahead with this place. I in fact left a night early because I did not like this place. I do not recommend staying here.
Our stay was very quiet and easy. The house is in a great area of SF and close walking to restaurants and shops. We had to circle a few times, but we found free street parking and safely left our car for the weekend.
Our host was very friendly and made us feel welcomed! Room was very clean and comfortable! would stay here again!
Our employee Jeremy stayed in Mr. Rayikanti's home and reported back nothing but greatness! He loved the vibe of it, and the location stating it truly was in the heart of the Haight! He actually requested to stay here every time business brings him back here. Many thanks for a seamless business trip!
Ashir was a good host, and very helpful. He was always very quick to respond to any questions we had, and accommodated us when we had additional requests. Having the use of a kitchen and laundry facilities was a plus. The location was good - a nice neighbourhood and well connected to other parts of the city.
My partner and I stayed for a few days at Ashir and Margaret house in the Haight. The house was beautiful and we had a great time in SF. Ashir was fairly hands-off, easily accommodated our late arrival, and was quick to respond if I had a question. I would definitely consider staying here again for future trips to SF.

I live in the building with my wife. I work as a hospice chaplain and my wife a teacher and we both work in the city. Our two adult children are studying medicine on the East Coast. I love getting to know new people, love traveling, enjoy cooking spicy Indian food for my family & friends, love watching sports on TV and listening to music on the radio. I love helping people in their most vulnerable times and that is why I am a hospice chaplain. My life's motto is 'life is an adventure-live it to the fullest while you have it'....
