The Space

The apartment you rent is right in front of the All Saint's Bay . It comprises an entrance, a bedroom, a bathroom and a terrace.
The room is spacious and have a comfortable new bed (170 cm) It opens widely onto the terrace with panoramic views of the Bay of All Saints You can have breakfast or have a drink watching the sunset.
The spacious bathroom have hot shower and toilet.

Guest Access

The house have 4 private unit. One is occupied by Yanelis who takes care of our tenants and makes home maintenance.
The other 3 are listed on airbnb.
By renting this apartment, you have access to all parts shown in the photos of the listing ie:
120 m2 ground floor (bar, dining room, art gallery ...)
The kitchen is located on the ground floor. The kitchen is functional and equipped but is not completely finished. You can use it if you wish for lunch and dinner ( unaivalable for breakfasts).
Stairs to climb to the apartment or down to the kitchen may be difficult for people with reduced mobility.

Interaction with Guests

It is with the greatest pleasure that Yanelis on site or myself (by email) will assist you during your stay in Salvador. Do not hesitate to ask Yanelis its deals in Salvador, she is shy but loves to help. We are however not a Pousada and can not guarantee our permanent presence on the premises.

The Neighborhood

Santo Antonio neighborhood has changed! In ten years this district dedicated to a slow decay has seen install the finest guest houses in the city. Not less than 15 charming pousadas in the street!

For what reason?

1/ Proximity of Pelourinho : Close to the lively and noisy Pelourinho where you walk our neighborhood is quiet at night ...

2/ The beauty of the street and the view: In a unique Bahia neighborhood enjoy a quality of life forgotten in the rest of the city .

3/ Safety : The district is one of the safest Salvador .

Close to the house you'll enjoy visiting Fort Santo Antonio( world center of capoeira) and may assist a Samba on the square if you are lucky (50 meters). The Baroque church "Boquerão" is one of the nicest in Town (150 meters). Finally you can enjoy a " arumadinho " or " carne da sol" while drinking a beer at the Cruz de Pasqual (200 meters) unless you prefer the terrace restaurant Ulysses ( known throughout Salvador) 20 meters from the house) ...

Getting around

Most of our guests arrive at the airport. We work with a retiree who can wait and bring you home pretty near the same price as a taxi: 100 reais.
It is also possible to come to the airport by bus during day time.
The embarkation ports for Itaparica, the islands , Morro de Sao Paolo e Boipeba are located close to the house. The bus station is accessible by bus or taxi (25 reais). The area is rich in bus allowing easy access to the beaches.

  • Wow ! The house is just fantastic... Far away from pelourinho to be quiet and close enough to walk down there ( 10 minutes walk). The neigbourhood is quite safe for Salvador and you find restaurant grocery and bars around.
The house itself is really fantastic, widely open on the bay and very spacious. My room was just fantastic, with a lot of light, wide sea view and really quiet during sleeping time ( I'm an early bird), in fact after 8 am you start hearing the murmur of the town.
Bathroom is really nice as are Yanelis Breakfast ! My best coffee in Brasil since years, maybe because she is cuban ...

A recommander !

Merci !

  • Xavier has been very helpful and friendly, it was a pleasure to be his guests. It was also very interesting to chat with him. The house is quite special, decorated with a lot of taste and full of Brazilian art work, and you also have a spectacular view on the bay from the bedroom terrace.

  • What a wonderful place! Terrific location, about one KM from the center of the Pelourinho, but it's a good walk. Down Rua Sao Antonio passing by so many 19th century buildings which are slowly and lovingly being restored to posadas, homes or studios while maintaining their quirky feel. Past several beautriful Portuguese churches from the 17th and 18th centuries, the neighborhood is extremely lively and is well lit and felt perfectly safe, even walking back from dinner at 10 PM..

The house itself was a wonderful surprise; the outside maintaining it's 19th century look and presence but the inside beautifully and completely redone with very modern spaces using contemporary and antique materials. The first floor is straight through so, upon entering, the view is all the way through past the spiral stairs and kitchen bar back through the end of the house which is completely open to an absolutely breathtaking view of Salvador harbor. Walking to the back railing the view just becomes more and more overwhelming. There really is no way to describe it, it must be experienced.

The room we stayed in was two floors down with a beautiful little terrace at the back and the same view but beautifully framed by palms, a small table, umbrella and chairs.

A beautiful light breakfast was served by our very accommodating hostess (we needed to be up and out at 7 AM to catch a plane) including fried banana, some Salvador rolls and a pot of of coffee which was the best I had in Brazil- she is from Havana via Paris and somewhere along the line- to our delight- someone showed her the art of brewing.

I'll have to admit that before I got here some of the other comments on this concerned me a little bit (about cleanliness- TOTALLY untrue) so I came in with the thought that if it didn't work out I could stay somewhere else. I shouldn't have worried- this place exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Thanks for a wonderful visit.

We have had a great stay with Xavier and other couples present in the house! For us it was really that the Airbnb concept ! Have people to talk travel with, to talk about life in Brazil, activities to do in the city ! Xavier was very present and attentive to our needs. The house is very well located, 5 minutes from the Pelourinho, in a quiet street, the house is beautiful (Xavier did almost everything by his one ... bravo !), Even if there are still things to improve (fuse often fart, sometimes mottled fine furniture but not always functional). Thank you for the memories! ( Fuse should be ok now, we oversized the energy system and reduced the shower power)
