A sweet and comfortable little guest house w/ a full kitchen and garden on our half acre in a quiet cul-de-sac. Located above the Mission in Mission Canyon. You hear more birds than traffic–yet you're only 5 minutes from the downtown Santa Barbara...
The cottage has a quiet & peaceful bedroom that sleeps 2 in a comfy new queen sized bed, a small (see picture) private bath with shower, and a small living room. There is a full kitchen for your exclusive use that is equipped with full sized stove/oven, microwave, full sized fridge, small appliances, place settings and all that you might need to prepare and serve meals. Living and dining spaces are cozy, clean and comfortable. We've also just installed a jacuzzi/hot tub next to the cottage, and guests have access anytime.
There is also a queen air-bed that can be easily set up in the living room for children or extra guests. The cottage is ideal for a couple, and fine for parents with children, but it will be snug for 3 or 4 adults. However, it "can" work for travelers in a pinch and it's quite comfortable for families with small children.
There's lots of outdoor space on our property and we are in a quiet, very walkable neighborhood. Behind the cottage our guests have a private, secluded garden with native plants and succulents, and a small dining area with a Weber grill if you'd like to cook outdoors.
We're a short walk to the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden or to the Tunnel & 7 Falls trail heads and many miles of scenic hiking or biking. Being a bit up the canyon, we're usually above the coastal fog, and we're often clear and sunny on mornings when much of Santa Barbara is still cool and grey.
It's just a few minutes drive to Mission Santa Barbara, the Natural History Museum and downtown Santa Barbara with sightseeing, restaurants, tasting rooms, shopping, theaters, parks and beaches.
The way the cottage and it's off-street parking are situated at the back of our property you'll be able also come and go with complete privacy day or night. However, we also like meeting new people and interacting with our guests and are happy to share whatever local knowledge we have or be of any help we can throughout your stay.
Off street parking & high speed WiFi included.
We love well behaved dogs.
Non-smoking only please.
There is a garden behind the cottage for the tenants use, and access to an outdoor hot tub/spa next to the cottage that is shared with the main house.
Interaction with Guests
We love to meet new people and share whatever we know of Santa Barbara with them, but we also know how wonderful privacy can be. We're always glad to be of help, but your time here is all your own...
We live in a quiet neighborhood in the lower foothills above Mission Canyon. There's not much traffic so it's a great area for evening strolls or dog walking. We're about a 5 minute walk to the gorgeous Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and about a mile from the 7 Falls/Tunnel trailhead which brings you into to the extensive network of hiking and biking trails in the National Forest above us.
Since we're up in the foothills a bit you'll need a car (or a bike and strong legs) to get around while you're here. The nearest city bus is over a mile away.
Other Things to Note
Well behaved dogs are always welcome, but we must know something about your pet before we confirm your booking. Please do not bring along dog(s) unannounced.
We are quiet, kind and respectful and appreciate the same in exchange. It's a quiet neighborhood where sound travels remarkably far so we'd like you to be considerate, especially at night. Please do not use the Hot Tub before 11am or after 11pm. No parties or gatherings over 6 people allowed on the premises.
We have plenty of off street parking and we live on a narrow road so please park on the gravel at either side of our driveway and not on the street.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but please be considerate of the neighbors. Walk dogs on leash and pick up after them. The cottage garden is not fully fenced so please don't let them roam unattended.

Great experience. Very nice little place perfect for the two of us. Loved being up in the mountains and being able to access downtown in about a 5 minute drive. Host was great, did not interact with them much but left everything we needed and gave us contact information if there was anything we had questions about.
The place was perfect for a little weekend getaway! The neighborhood was beautiful and close to some great hiking trails.
My wife, my 8 month old son, and I had a pleasant stay at the Cottage. Everything was just as we expected it, and just a 10 to 15 minute drive to the most popular areas of town. Dan was there to meet us when we arrived, and offered to give us any advice on places to visit, and restaurants to eat. On our second day, we met Bonnie, and she was equally pleasant, and helpful with recommendations to make our stay in Santa Barbara the best it could be. I would not hesitate to stay at the Cottage the next time we’re in town.
My husband and I had a lovely stay at the quiet cottage. We returned to Santa Barbara as post residents and enjoyed our old haunts and restaurants. Dan still had some good advice and chat about hiking and recommended our favourite dog beach to visit which was a must as the weather was beautiful.
The cottage was beautifully clean, comfortable and had everything we needed including a doggie water bowl for our cavalier Wellington who also enjoyed his stay. The bathroom, though a little cramped, had a few amenities and proper sized bath towels which I appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped with a big fridge so it would be easy to cook meals.
Any time spent at the cabin was so wonderfully quiet and peaceful and calm. There are lots of windows to enjoy the fresh air and hear the birds in the morning. It was a perfect getaway for us for a few days and my husband and I plan to return. Thank you Dan and Bonnie.
We had a wonderful stay at the bungalow. It was our first time visiting Santa Barbara and we couldn't have picked a better accommodation. The bungalow was conveniently close to all the attractions and the neighborhood was very quiet. It was comfortable for our family of 4 (with 2 small children). Dan was out of town but managed to check in with us the first evening. The heat pilot light was out and Dan was very prompt to provide lighting instructions for it. It's too bad we had to go home but can't wait to return.
Bonnie and Dan were very welcoming, friendly, and offered to help in any way. The cottage was beautiful - up in the highlands with an incredible view. It had everything we needed for our trip - we brought our small poodle and had a great time. The neighborhood was secluded, quiet, and serene - perfect for a relaxing walk. Highly recommended!
