The Space

Planning a trip to San Francisco? Then why not stay in the heart of the city in the historic Haight Ashbury district. Located in a classic 1907 Victorian building, we have a fully furnished 2 units available for BNB guests.
We have #1 and #2 (bed-rooms) in our basement unit (level 1) already open for BNB guests. We are now opening 4 bed rooms as #3, #4, #5 and # 6 on level 3 in the Victorian flat. These private rooms can be booked separately by individuals or the whole flat can be booked for a party of 8 people. There is a large common kitchen and 1.5 bath-room . There is also a green room behind the kitchen leading to a deck and stairs to the large back-yard. Please check out the pictures of the flat and the individual rooms, the common bath-room, kitchen and common areas.
#3 is a large furnished bed room (16 by 14) with an antique queen size bed with 2 large windows with lots of sun-shine and beautiful view of the back-yard. There is also a large walk-in closet, old, unused fire place a a classic cabinet section.

Feel free to browse through the pictures to get a better idea, but here's a quick description:
-LOCATION, Location, Location!! With Haight street literally being just a block away, there are never ending options for restaurants, pubs, shops, health food stores, boutiques & cafes
Extremely convenient public transportation: adjacent to 6 & 71 bus lines which take you straight down Market Street into the heart of San Francisco, also adjacent to the 43 bus line and two blocks from the 33 which takes you to the Mission District.
- Great food and bars! Across the street is Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery, and all less than 5 minutes away are: Squat & Gobble Cafe & Crepery, Pork Store Cafe, The Alembic, Hobson's Choice, and Cha Cha Cha.
- Many excellent grocery stores: Haight Street Market is 1.5 blocks away, Whole Foods is 5 blocks down Haight Street, and a new brand new Bi-Rite Store just opened up 8 blocks away.
- Boutique shopping galore: tons of specialty shops, thrift shops, and high end clothing stores right here on Haight Street.
-A post office is half a block away, so feel free to drop off a postcard to your friends/family on your walk to Haight Street.
-With its rich history, walking down Haight street is definitely an experience and gives you insight into why this was the heart of the Hippie movement! Diverse crowds and unique shops are all part of the experience.
-If you like to run/bike/or just enjoy being outdoors, you are in luck. Our house is a block away from the pan handle park. If you want the real deal, then just walk down three blocks and find yourself at the start of Golden Gate Park, where there are multiple museums (Academy of Sciences, Flower Conservatory, etc) and year around events. Always something to do here!
-If you are a fan of water, then a quick 15 minute drive away is the Pacific Ocean, where on warm and yes even cold weekends, people can be found lounging, surfing, swimming, etc!
-A bike rental place is a few blocks down, so this is another fantastic way to explore the city on a bike. You can put your bike in the back yard or the garage.

My wife and I live in the upstairs unit of the building. We are both working professionals and are home usually in the evenings. However, I can be reached via cell phone 24/7. The great thing about living on site is it allows us to address any questions/concerns you may have. We are both laid back and respectful. We have lived in this city close to 20 years, so we can help you with suggestions on places to visit, eat, etc.

Thank you for visting our page! Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this listing. We look forward to having you stay with us.

  • The hosts were very hospitable, left very clear instructions, and had a lovely home. The room was gorgeous, clean, and spacious, right next to a nice kitchen that was stocked with food. We had some lovely chai tea when we woke up the next morning (made by the host) and loved being right near haight-ashbury. This was a great experience! I would definitely come back!

  • The room was as described although the layout is slightly different from the pictures. It was a good base to explore the city from. The kitchen was quite convenient as well.

The only inconvenience I had was spotty wifi through the week. Ashir worked diligently to try to correct but I would confirm that it's working if it's important to you.

  • It was very nice to get picked up from the airport for a fee. Also nice to store our bags since we arrived in the morning and couldn't check in till 5pm. The main hosts were not there during our stay. The main thing that was not pleasant was the cleanliness of the house. The shared spaces looked like they were not cleaned regularly. The kitchen had dirt/grime build up from many years. I encountered some poo on the toilet seat and pee and on the floor in the bathroom. Bathrooms should have paper towels instead of one small hand towel for everyone to share. I didn't use it cause it was visibly dirty and not changed daily. Good location though.

  • Ashir and Margaret were very kind and helpful to me. The place is wonderfully convenient to the shops and clubs around the Haight and Golden Gate Park. The back room was very quiet for a city room, and the general rule of the house is quiet after 10pm, which was important to me. There was some internal noise because others come down the hall to use the washroom and kitchen, so I would probably try a more forward room next time. I was quite comfortable and happy with my stay, all very smooth.

  • I found this rental to be great value for the money. It is in a highly desirable tourist area, Haight Ashbury, with easy access to downtown, Golden Gate Park, and my other favorite neighborhoods in the City. Parking in this neighborhood is not easy, but it is nice to be able to park in the host's driveway for $10/night. We had a miscommunication about the parking, and someone else was parked there the 2nd night of our stay. That was a bummer because we could only find metered parking and then had to wake up early the next morning to move the car. However this was not entirely the host's fault, just make sure you are clear on the arrangements beforehand. The flat itself is spacious (by SF standards) with original Victorian detailing. It feels like a grown-up version of a hostel because the bathroom and kitchen are shared with other Airbnb'ers. Clean. Would Recommend.

  • Ashir and Margaret were great hosts! We had to deal with a major delay during our flight, which made us arrive at a different time than expected, and Ashir was super accommodating and helpful. They had plenty of literature handy to help you navigate the area, though they are only a block away from Haight St, where you can find pretty much anything you may need. Thanks again Ashir and Margaret!
