We are offering our lovingly built cabin in the tranquil countryside of Ireland's sunny southeast. It is a private, small, warm and bright chalet in the middle of a family run 14 acre smallholding. The chalet is 32 sq metres and has a purpose-built sleeping loft with a double mattress. There is also a double futon sofa, that can be used on the ground floor as a second bed for families or groups. If you have larger groups, please inquire as we have other sleeping options. The space is heated by a woodburning stove, firewood provided! The chalet is often used by the owner as a yoga studio, classes can be requested when you book in. It was built over a two year period and many of the materials were recycled or sourced by the owner through his forestry work. Wifi is available in the chalet, or if your prefer it can be turned off. There is also the private use of a small kitchen in an adjacent caravan, complete with hob, cooler (cold bricks provided), and tables/chairs. The caravan/kitchen is also stocked with some basics (tea, milk, sugar, etc...) and is kept spotless for our guests. We provide clean bed linen and towels for all the beds/guests.
There is a private dry compost toilet alongside the chalet and shower use is available in the main house. We are very conscious about keeping the space immaculate, so that the integrity of the building can be appreciated.
The smallholding is very secluded, approx. 3km from the main road and only 7km from artistic Wexford Town. The chalet is tucked into a secluded, private place on the land, near our old apple orchard and wood store.
We are a working smallholding and keep geese, chickens, and a donkey. We have established a new large orchard and a regenerating woodland. Our place is far from the road so it is very safe for children. We have a tree house, swingset and there is a small stream, for relaxing, paddling fun. Beautiful long walks and bike rides from your doorstep. There are also many easy, enjoyable walks to take with children. It is a perfect space for people who desire a quiet place to work, think or meditate. There is an abundance of wild birds and wildlife and often a fox, badger or heron can be spotted.
The main house is located 20 metres from the chalet, down the lane. We are only 20km from Rosslare Europort. 15km to nearest beach, Curracloe. Many other beautiful beaches not much further down the Wexford coast. 2km to a beautiful walk along the Slaney river. There is a small dock along the river, and kayaking/canoeing is a popular activity.
Meals can be provided by an experienced cook prepared from home reared meat and other local produce. We bake sourdough bread in a wood fired clay oven, orders taken! Likewise our pizza's are a treat and make for an ideal summer meal with fresh salad. Pizza firings can be arranged.

Where to start! Beautiful experience, lovely accommodation and very tranquil surroundings.
Vivian Chris and kids are very friendly relaxed hosts. Two adorable dogs will greet you on arrival and then of course the donkey.
So nice to wake up naturally to the sounds of a farm and not a noisy Hotel room.
Great place for getting away and having some peaceful relaxing time to yourself!
Can't wait to go back to this lil Gem!
great place, very friendly hosts, shame the weather stopped us from making the most of it :)
Vivian is super host, sharing wit us a very nice part of Ireland. Welcoming us with a home made bread, a big smile, two funny dogs running to us, and her little boy was exactly the human contact we needed. The place is simple, just what we need to feel good, in the middle of nature, like camping with confortable extras. Meeting this family was great, we would come back anytime. Thanks a lot for your kindness, generosity and earth loving.
Vivian, Chris and family were all very nice and helpful with suggestions for the short time we were there. The chalet is spacious, has a cosy wood stove and was the perfect setting for our final night after a hectic week traveling around Ireland. They have wonderful animals too...Boley, a very friendly donkey and Daisy, a very sweet cow!
Everything was so nice that we wished we had planned on staying longer.
We had a truly wonderful stay with Vivian, Chris and family. As our first point of call in Ireland this was a wonderful foundation, we got a feel for Irish life, Irish music and a sense of the generations of history there are here. Vivian kindly picked us up from the train station and took us out to our cabin on their farm. We felt right at home as their organic choice of lifestyle with compost toilet reminded us of hiking around New Zealand mountain huts. It felt lovely to be staying amongst nature and knowing we were helping preserve it. The cabin was warm with a potbelly fire. The bed was up a tree-hut-like ladder. Their dogs and other farm animals were very loveable.
Vivian and Chris were great to converse with, so friendly and we really felt welcome into their family life there. We wish we could have stayed longer, and if we return to Ireland we would stay here again.
My stay here was perfect and exactly what I wanted, which was a retreat to sit, think and write. The family were lovely and let me get on with being a hermit for a week, whilst also nurturing checks every day or so to make sure I had everything I needed - including some soda bread and Irish butter to go with it - delicious!
The animals are gorgeous, the kids to die for, and Vivian and Chris just lovely. Here is a family which is living an idyllic rural dream and will inspire you to make some positive changes to your lifestyle when you come home. It really is a beautiful setting, so peaceful and in the middle of nowhere, 8 miles or so to the nearest town alongside a stunning river. A perfect week.
Thanks guys X
Before arriving at the Chalet you will drive a 15 min road with an amazing view, finding the place is very easy and Vivian's directions are really easy to follow! The chalet is much bigger than in the picture all the windows let the sun illuminate the room beautifully.
The outside sink may seem wild at first, but being able to brush your teeth and talk with a donkey at the same time is not something you do every day. The kitchen-caravan is very functional, Vivian shared with us her home-made bread and some milk and butter!!!
Vivian and her family were extremely warm, they gave us a lot of useful advice, they even made us aperitivo while booking a restaurant downtown for us. We loved to play with their kids and talk about all the instruments that they play and we can't forget the dogs and the cats all so adorable and full of love. The chalet is well located if you want to visit wexford and the area around also as starting base for the southern coast of Ireland.
It was an absolute pleasure staying on Chris and Vivian's farm. They are incredible hosts and added so many personal touches to our stay.We loved sleeping in the loft, doing our dishes with a nosey donkey and enjoying the beautiful scenery and wonderful animals everywhere. Many thanks and we would love to visit again in the future!
Staying with Vivian's husband Chris was one of the highlight stays of our road trip. Unfortunately Vivian couldn't be around that night, but Chris welcomed us in at a late hour with dinner and beers. We had a good time exchanging stories before going to bed. In the morning Chris made us a quick breakfast and some coffee to get us back on the road while we played with his 2 pups and funny little kittens. The chalet was much nicer than I expected with the hardwood floors and walls, and everything about the stay was really great, even finding our way into the property late at night was kind of fun. Unfortunately our stay was short (just 1 night) before catching a ferry, otherwise we would have definitely stayed longer.
Amazing stay. They were so kind and hospitable. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to have a peaceful place to rest. I wish I could have stayed longer. I travelled for 8 days through southern Ireland and this was the most memorable place.
