It has a fully-equipped kitchen. WiFi, Cable TV & AC. Located on the second floor of a small house over a garden courtyard on a quiet street by Kensington Market.
This centrally-located place has been described as something of a rustic cabin in the middle of the city. The apartment is maintained in an immaculate and tidy condition. It's located on the second floor of small house that was once the servant's quarters for the mansion next door.
There are three beds, one a double bed in the bedroom, a fold-out sofa bed in the living room and a comfy double futon in the living room as well.
All household items are here, including freshly laundered linen, duvet, pillows and towels, cookware and condiments, iron and hair dryer, Cable TV, WiFi and air conditioning. There is also a coin laundry literally next door.
There's a small bright bathroom with an endless hot water shower, and a fully-equipped kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, blender, toaster, and toaster oven.
It's located up some fairly narrow stairs, so be aware for accessibility issues.
This place is yours, and yours alone. There is a separate entrance from the garden courtyard. You will have your own set of keys so you can come and go as you like. The keys will let you into the laundry room of the building complex, which is located a few metres away in the next building.
If you need parking, let me know. I have some great ideas of how to park in this neighborhood.
Interaction with Guests
As your host, I'm available 24/7 by phone, text or email. I encourage guests to get in touch with me without hesitation if they have any questions about the house, or simply queries about the city.
The Coach House is located in one of Toronto's most dynamic neighborhoods. Kensington Market is two streets away, Chinatown is next door and the University of Toronto is a two minute walk from the house. Kensington Market is great for diverse, alternative, low-cost and colourful restaurants, bars, boutiques and food shops, while Chinatown is the place for great Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese restaurants, and well-stocked supermarkets that are open late.
There's also a 24 hour pharmacy/supermarket on the corner.
Public transit is excellent in this location. The Coach House is next to the Spadina St. streetcar (tram), which is one of the most frequent in the city and integrates directly into the subway system.
If you're resourceful, you can also find free street parking here. Temporary street parking can be arranged very cheaply by visiting the City of Toronto's temporary street parking permit website. There's also some pretty inexpensive indoor parking very close by.
Other Things to Note
The house is located near two of the most frequent streetcars in Toronto, a north south one and an east west one, both of which lead into a Metro line.

Brahm was a very responsive host, and we were very pleased with the location to be so near Kensington Market (although, this place is still in Chinatown). However, we were a little disappointed about the space. The apartment was smaller than it looked in photographs, with very little room to move around when all 3 beds were set-up. Also, the bathroom required some acrobatics to get in and out of the shower (have to practically step over the toilet), so just to be aware of if you have any physical limitations.
That being said, Brahm was very nice and did his best to troubleshoot little issues that came up (no bath towels, poor internet), and you could tell everything was clean. He also offered suggestions for parking and I really had the sense that he wanted us to have a nice stay. I would recommend this place as a good deal for the price.
Brahm's place is great! It's about at 30 minute walk from the lakeshore and very close to campus, which makes it extremely convenient. The lodging itself was very clean, and had space to cook meals and do dishes if need be. It also has an AC unit, which was very helpful during the 30+C days
Brahm's place is better than a hotel in every way except one: while internet access is provided, the connect would cut out quite often. I would recommend having a phone with a good dataplan and tethering.
We never had the chance to meet Brahm, but he arranged for our arrival and departure, and this was very convenient. The place is small but cosy and very well-fitted out (excellent use of space and some nice, old style furniture)! It is more appropriate for 2 people than 3 or 4 though, as the pullout couch was not very comfortable. It was also a bit noisy to sleep in the living room as you could hear people talking outside in the courtyard in the middle of the night (there is an area with seating where people hang out). The wifi is also VERY weak. But the location is really excellent - round the corner from Kensington Market and Chinatown, and it is possible to walk to many places downtown! We were particularly happy with that, and generally enjoyed our stay.
Communication with Brahm was easy. He's great at responding to any questions I had. The place was comfortable and quiet. I enjoyed staying there and would stay there again.
We loved our time at Brahm's Kensington Coach House! Brahm gave us great directions on finding the place, and everything was clean when we arrived. Loved the charm and character of the place; wish we had taken more advantage of the kitchen! Parking in the garage at Kensington Market proved to be the best of the given choices, and was fine for us since we walked everywhere once we got settled. Thanks for an amazing stay!
Arrival at Brahm's apartment was very simple. Brahm was very communicative leading up to the trip and had detailed instructions for accessing the place and getting keys. The apartment is bare-bones but certainly had everything we needed. The location is great if you want access to the market and Chinatown. The decor is eclectic but overall the apartment was very clean and well-kept.
