Check In
  • Francis' apartment was very clean, confortable and very well equipped. He was also very kind letting us check-in early and giving us directions and suggestions. Although we didn't spend much time in it because we wanted to discover NY, we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Frankie's place is really spacious and we felt relaxed and welcomed the whole time. The main bedroom was great, and the lounge room converted into a second bedroom with ease. Sissy's downstairs is a great place to start (or end) the night, with genuine staff and genuine karaoke. If you want to feel like a New Yorker (or Astorian), book this place. As described, as promised. No hassles.

  • A reasonably sized apartment for New York. Close to transport - 5-10 minutes walk to the subway station (either 30th Ave - N or Q line or Steinway St - M or R line). Francis was polite and helpful. The apartment was clean when we arrived and a cleaner was organised during our stay. Plenty of good restaurants, supermarket just around the corner. We were aware of music at the pub next door however it was on Friday & Saturday nights until 1.30am

  • This place is fantastic. The apartment is spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood is great. It's lively, with a huge variety of restaurants, ethnic markets & bakeries, nightlife, and shopping. There's a grocery store right off the subway exit, 24 hour fruit markets, a 24 hour Duane Reade a block away, pet stores, laundromats, clothing stores like Victoria's Secret & Gap within a few blocks, even a Costco nearby. There are Capital One, Chase, and Bank of America branches all within one block. There are 2 gyms, NYSC & Planet Fitness, and a yoga studio within a couple blocks. MoMA PS1 & the Noguchi Museum are nearby as well. Getting into Manhattan is a breeze. This neighborhood is as accessible to Midtown as almost anywhere in Manhattan. Frank & Brit are gracious and charming hosts who are happy to help out with anything you may need during your stay. They even went so far as to have a bowl of fruit, cage free eggs, juice & english muffins for me when I got there. They really make you feel like a guest, not a business transaction. I recommend this place without any hesitation.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and we could not have been more pleased. Francis was always quick to respond to all of my questions and he was very flexible with check in. The apt was super clean (which I LOVED) and stocked with sheets, towels, toilet paper, soap and basically anything we could have needed to feel at home. We had our five year old son with us and we had more than enough room to feel comfortable. The apt is in a great, safe area…about a seven min walk to either train, with lots of places to eat and drink along the way! Francis did mention the karaoke on Friday evenings, which I was a little worried about with our son, but we found a box fan in one of the closets which drowned out any outside noise and gave us all a good night's sleep! All in all, this was EXACTLY the experience we were hoping for and we would definitely stay at this apt again!

Frank is the best! extremely nice, helpful, easy to reach and great to talk to, flexible and accommodating – the perfect host!

The apartment itself is super cozy and stocked very very well with everything from umbrellas and hats to a laundry bag and medicine cabinet.

There're two large comfortable rooms with everything we needed (including tons of storage space - three closets and two chests of drawers, multiple sets of sheets, blankets, towels, a big screen TV etc.), and a big kitchen with a bar table and cooking facilities.

There was a bit of noise from the bar downstairs, especialy on Friday which is karioky night, but it didn't realy bother us.

The apartment is in a very central street and is close to 2 subway stations, the walk to which is very nice and not too long (so long as you don't make many shopping stops…). We will definitely come back next time we're in NYC!

I don't know what else I can say but - stay at Frank's, you'll be happy you did :)

  • Frank is a very very nice person. Immediately responsive to any problems or questions, lives in the same building so he can really take care. Definitely not in your face, though and it is one of the best experiences we have had! Very nice and clean apartment. Generous offering of fruit when we came. Nice apartment layout!!!

  • We had a fantastic time staying in the Zen Plant Oasis! Astoria is a convenient place to be, with easy access to downtown on the subway via the N & Q. The apartment is within walking distance to the famous Neptune Diner. The bed was super comfortable, everything was clean and Francis made us feel at home providing fruit, eggs and water. He was quick to respond whenever we needed anything. Great host and a great place! :)

  • The appartment was fine, suited our needs. Not very cosy, but fortunately we had enough places to go in New York! Francis is a nice guy, fast in his responses by mail. Good price for a fine appartment.

  • My stay at Zen Plant Oasis was most relaxing. Although the building it's in is on busy Steinway St., Not a sound from the street could be heard as the apartment is in the back portion of the building. Very clean with an extremely comfortable bed. As far as amenities go, all bases were covered.

The neighborhood was a pleasure to walk through enroute to the subway. So many quaint shops and inviting eateries everywhere. The ethnic diversity of the community is most refreshing. (BTW Astoria is only 15 minutes, three stops from Manhattan.)

I used to stay in Manhattan when working in NYC however I am smitten with Astoria. I only hope Zen Plant Oasis is available the next time I'm in town.

    Thank you Francis!
