Period terraced house in quiet area

House - Private room · Parkview Avenue, Rathmines, Dublin, Ireland

The Space

A tastefully furnished period house (built around 1900), in a quiet cul-de-sac, two miles from the city centre.

There are two bedrooms available, each suitable for one or two people. Groups of four can be accommodated - there is a listing for each of the rooms - similar photographs - and groups of four can be accommodated by booking both listings. Each room has a king size bed - which is exceptionally comfortable, The rooms are spacious and and very calm - ideal for relaxation and rest. All the furniture is period, but the room has a nice modern feel to it. They've both got lovely linens, and plenty of fresh towels.

Two bus routes serve the main road, which is just around the corner from the house - the 16 bus from Dublin Airport (the journey takes about 50 minutes) is one of the routes. and the same bus runs to the City Centre - 10 minute journey.

The City Centre (Grafton Street - Trinity College) is a 20min to a half hour walk from the house. Historic Dublin - St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Chester Beatty Library, National Gallery, are all within easy reach - either by bus route or walking.

I am involved with the Dublin International Piano Competition - an event that takes place every three years - so I'm deeply involved in offering stellar hospitality to international travellers and how to showcase the best that Dublin has to offer. I'm very aware of the standard and level of the comfort that people need while they're staying.

I offer breakfast - muesli, yoghurt, fresh homemade Irish brown bread, croissants, tea and coffee.

The sheltered sunny garden is a calm and restful place to have breakfast on a warm morning. One of the bedrooms looks over the garden.

I provide a full guide book on Dublin, including map, information about day trips to Glendalough, Galway and the Cliffs of Moher, Cork and Belfast. I can help with planning your time in Dublin, and I also assist in planning travel around Ireland.

Hair dryer / Docking station / WiFi / on street visitor parking.

  • Thank you Adrienne for making me feel so welcome. Really enjoyed my stay and the yummy granola, homemade yogurt and good coffee in the sun. Great location too - very close to my old haunting ground Rathmines and walking distance to town, yet quiet and peaceful.

  • Adrienne was simply amazing! She walked me through the entire house, made sure I was well and even had tea with me. Her home is truly beautiful and cozy. She is a remarkable lady!

The house is located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood in Dublin. I felt comfortable taking the bus to and from the City Center. She gave me a map with all the great sites and how to get to them as well. Everything was truly perfect! Next time I'm in Dublin, I am sure to stay there again!

  • Great location, comfortable room and a friendly charming host.

  • She is a wonderful woman, a great host with beautiful rooms, 100% recommended.

  • Adrienne was a great host! She was very warm and helpful. The house was, to say the least, beautiful! Adrienne obviously took care of every tiny detail in it. It was great finding many French items/paintings, books, cushions with BONJOUR written on them :)(being French, I felt immediately at home). The bed was very comfortable, the room spacious, the neighborhood very quiet, so was the house. I stayed there for two days, it was very relaxing! I even got to do some reading on the first day...

The location is very convenient as well, it's a 5 minute bus ride away from Dublin city center. Make sure you have the exact 2.35 EU change on you though(Bus 16). I would definitely recommend it!
Although Adrienne was not staying at the house, but she was always around ready help and advise. Plus she's a musician! What more could one ask for?!

  • I had a wonderful stay in Dublin during New Years thanks to Adrienne. Her house listing was booked so I ended up staying at her mews. Lucky me!

It was a beautiful apt, private, charming and just the right distance from the city center. It's on a major street with lots of buses driving by. I ended up taking the bus a lot though it's walking and biking distance from main attractions. Adrienne was the perfect host. She is warm, friendly and makes a great cup of coffee. She went above and beyond as a hostess, picking me up and taking me to the airport bus stop, giving me maps and suggestions for getting around the city and even letting me borrow her iPad for the night. I must admit, I think I loved the breakfast of yogurt and homemade granola almost too much. It was delicious!

A stay at a Adrienne's will make your Dublin experience extra special.

  • Adrienne is very helpful and is always responsive with emails. Her house was comfortable, neat and tidy and had served our needs especially we came to visit our son who is studying in Dublin. We spent four nights there and really felt like at home. The location is safe and convenient - within walking distance to the city centre and just a minute walk to the bus stop. It’s a great place and our family had a lovely stay. Breakfast was good. We miss the homemade yoghurt most! Many thanks to Adrienne! I’m still sorry for the porcelain teapot my little daughter broke on our last day. My apologies. Adrienne didn’t charge it. Thank you Adrienne. You're so kind.
We did have a good time in Ireland. Thank you angels everywhere.

  • Wonderful place to stay and welcoming host. Excellent location, quiet street but close enough to City Centre to walk or bus in. Adrienne was really awesome - lovely historic home. Highly recommend a stay!

  • Adrienne was an extremely helpful and friendly hostess. She phoned me in advance of my trip to ensure I knew how to arrive, gave me directions by bus and offered to arrange for a taxi to meet me. Once there she took the time to give clear directions to all the places I needed to get to, including detailed information on bus routes and times.
She was very flexible and accommodating, and all this despite difficult personal circumstances during the time of my stay.
I would definitely stay with Adrienne again when staying in Dublin.

  • Adrienne is a caring, helpful and generous host and the house is a lovely one. Very homely. The single room and one of the two doubles have beds with a footboard. I am 5'11'' and found it slightly restricting - I would try and get the other double room next time. There is only one bathroom and there were 4 guests when I was there, which I believe is the maximum she allows. Otherwise highly recommended and good value.

    Response from Adrienne:

Alex - thank you for your review. I am sorry that you found the bed short. That is the problem with older beds. However, the single room is not listed on airbnb - it is the room I use when I am there and have guests in both rooms. As I explained, given the circumstances of my mother's death, I felt it fair to honour bookings as there was an acute bed shortage in Dublin. Best wishes, Adrienne

I am a native of Dublin, with a good knowlege of the city. I live in a great area, very near town. I am involved in many areas of life. I am used to interacting with people and love to host visitors. I have travelled extensively in France and Australia, as well as many other European countries. I travel regularly to New York and London. I have a great interest in current affairs, music, and the theatre. I am also involved in a number of committees where I meet people from diverse walks of life. I am on the Executive of the Dublin International Piano Competition, which takes place every three years. Young pianists from all over the world come to Dublin to compete in the Competition, and I work closely with the competitors during the two weeks of the Competition.
