Welcome to our home in the middle of posh NW District. Our family would love to welcome yours! Leave your car at home or in our driveway-- coffee shops, world class dining and shopping, are around the corner. Brewery hopping, a visit to REI, and Powell's are a nice stroll or a short streetcar ride away.

The space
Welcome to our home. We love living in this neighborhood and know you will too. Our house was built in 1890 so be tender with it, but its bones are good and the location can't be beat. The master bedroom has a wow-factor to it as it has a private porch overlooking Johnson Street and a fireplace. The quirky thing is you'll find that the bathrooms are not ensuite instead down a short hallway.

The kitchen has everything you'll need for your stay. We ask that you do not put cutting knives, cutting boards or wooden utensils in the dishwasher. Limit your food and beverage consumption to kitchen nook, dining room, outside patio, and upstairs deck. When the weather is nice, you're welcome to use the private patio outside the kitchen as well.

Guest access
We have keyless entry and change the code for each visitor. I will send you the code the day of your check-in. The front door lock will automatically lock 30 seconds after it's open so please be aware and do not close shut when deadbolt is out.

Other things to note
We have a basement Airbnb too that most likely will be rented out during your stay, but they have their own entrance. Many of our guests in our Airbnb below are families with small children with early bedtimes. For this reason we do not allow more than 4 adults in the house (two additional children are okay). Beyond that the noise level and footsteps overhead reaches capacity for a comfortable stay for the guests below. Moreover, because this is a family home, we rather host a family with a parent who can take responsibility for everyone; we find that renting along with peers makes it difficult for the primary guest to speak for everyone in the group. Therefore, we ask that you respect the other Airbnb guests below by keeping noise to a minimum after 9:30pm.

While we were a candidate for Airbnb Plus, we decided to forgo this opportunity because in too many ways renting a primary home is unlike renting out a second property, which is really what Airbnb looks for— we have family photos, we have a 3 day max stay (most of the time), and while we give some counter and closet space to our guests, we do not clear our drawers for guests to unpack for instance. So enjoy this selected Airbnb Plus home at the regular Airbnb fees:)

There's lots written about how special the Northwest District/Alphabet District/Nob Hill neighborhood is in many books, magazines, and websites. Here are my favorites-- ALL WALKING DISTANCE:

Coffee: One block away Barista on 23rd (3 min walk); Sterling Coffee on NW 21st (6 min walk)

Food: Mingo's (4 min walk) features seasonal local Italian cuisine that's rustic and delicious; Fireside (2 min) edgy yet warm ambiance perfect for romantic dinners and cocktail drinking; Ken's Bakery (6m) is my go to for authentic french breads and patisseries; Bamboo Sushi features tasty local and sustainable menu and practices, and Salt-n-Straw Ice Cream next door (both 2min) has the most creative creamy concoctions I've ever tasted. Three parks within a 10 min walk to take the kids to— one with a fun water feature in the summer so don’t forget the bathing suits!

Entertainment: The Brewcycle Portland takes you around to the local breweries (14min); Portland Center Stage is our local theater featuring Broadway and internationally acclaimed musicals and plays; the home of the Portland Timbers, Providence Park, is close by too (15min); finally, Cinema 21, will satisfy the cinephile in you with the most current independent, art house, and international movies under one roof, and is host to many film festivals too.

I'm a single mom that loves to travel and host. In our travels I've met so many wonderful Airbnb hosts who have given me ideas to make a more welcoming stay, and I hope to be able to share that hospitality with guests in my home.
