About This Listing
A sunny, central yet quiet and private retreat in the heart of Ponsonby. Your own garden and literally minutes from everything.
I have the separated front part of my home available for travellers - and I live in the back.
It is located in the heart of vibrant Ponsonby and has a sunny north-facing aspect with the house enjoying all day sun.
The bedroom has double-glazed windows and a comfortable queen-size bed. Additionally the sofa in the lounge can comfortably sleep a third person as the surface is comfortably firm and wide.
There is a separate bathroom with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, mirror demisters and a wall heater. The loo is separate and off the bathroom.
The lounge opens onto a sunny front deck via tri-fold doors to a Japanese inspired garden, both of which are available for your sole use.
There is NO kitchen but there are tea and coffee making facilities, crockery (flatware) and cutlery, toaster, mini fridge and washing up facilities. However with Ponsonby Road and the famous Dizengoff Cafe an easy 2 minute walk away, you will be spoilt for great cafe and restaurant options. The Nosh gourmet food market is a one minute walk away for food supplies.
There is free parking, with no time restrictions, on the street which is usually available but it is in high demand on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights when people come to Ponsonby to dine and socialise. However with most things being within walking distance or easily accessible by the nearby public transport links, having a car is not essential here.

Interaction with Guests
I love meeting my guests and introducing people to my place. There are always a few questions and these vary depending on who it is staying and their schedule. I'm happy to talk through peoples plans and sometimes offer a suggestion or an additional idea - sometimes adding a few local tips. After that I like to let my guests relax and enjoy my place. I always touch base the following day to ensure that everything is going well and to answer any new queries.
However, I'm only ever a call or text away so I'm accessible. My guests are a great source of enjoyment for me as they are always interesting people.
What do I love about my neighbourhood?Everything! I love its position in relation to the waterfront, the city and the transport hubs. I love the old wooden houses and the heritage nature of the area. I love that I can walk to everything I need, including the ocean, the gym, the food store, the library and the city. I love that my house is bathed in sunshine and natural light and that it is enjoys the beautiful western sunsets. I love that Ponsonby has a vibrant local community where people still know their neighbours and talk in the street and the local stores.
The 'Link bus' stops right at the top of the street which is a 2 minute stroll away. This connects to the Britomart transport hub at the bottom of Queen Street as well as following an inner city circuit loop. The buses travel in both directions and the stops include Newmarket, the Auckland Domain and Museum (a short walk) Downtown, Parnell, Auckland University etc.
Ponsonby has many pleasant urban walks and connects to the waterfront via a pedestrian over-bridge across the motorway. This is a great walk via Ponsonby Road and through St Marys Bay. The Wynyard Quarter connects via Te Whero pedestrian bridge to the Viaduct Basin and further along to the Britomart Quarter. An easy 20 - 30 minute walk that's mostly all downhill. Then simply jump on the Link bus to get home or alternatively hail a cab to bring you back up the hill to the Ponsonby ridge line.
The motorway ramps are all very close and easy to access in all directions.
Other Things to Note
An additional one-off tariff of $20 will apply if the sofa bed is made up and there are only two people staying, as this is a linen service fee.

Prefer shoes off inside please.
Make yourself at home and enjoy your stay.
Our family of three had an absolutely delightful stay at Jennifer’s lovely Ponsonby house. As pretty as it looks in the Airbnb photos of the place, it’s even more attractive in person. The house was spotless, with a supremely comfortable bed and linens, and a luxurious tile bath. All the fixtures were modern and new, and everything about the place was extremely well-maintained and comfortable. It was obvious that Jennifer takes her role as host very seriously.
Location-wise, the house was smack in the middle of some really fine restaurants. For breakfast, Lulu’s and Dizengoff Cafe were excellent, and we had amazing dinners at Mekong Baby and Boy and Bird (all on Ponsonby Rd.). Also, the surrounding homes were very well-kept and architecturally charming. We rented a car during our stay (which included a weekend), and had no trouble finding on-street parking close to the house. And the house’s proximity to SH1 made it very convenient to venture out of town.
We highly recommend Jennifer’s house, and would certainly stay there again.
Perfect Ponsonby pad. Tasteful, cleaner than a hotel room, everything you could possibly need. Jennifer is the consummate host: she's thought of everything, is there if you need her but not looking over your shoulder either. I will definitely be back and highly recommend staying here!
This Ponsonby house is in a great location to all the best the suburb has to offer. I was in auckland for a conference at Sky City. Immediately adjacent to an upmarket deli, cafes, bars, restaurants and shopping. Very close to a number of great top end and casual dining in Auckland. It's a leisurely 25 min walk into the CBD. The place is tastefully appointed with bathroom, bedroom, washer, dryer and lounge with a tranquil private garden setting. Detailed instructions to the facilities, surrounding location and things to do in auckland were left in the manual. Wifi, Free to air TV and DVD were available. I had a late flight on the last day and Jennifer was very accommodating with minding my bags. Highly recommended. I look forward to coming back again.
We have stayed with Jennifer before and this time it just felt like visiting with an old friend.
We received personal touches and a very thoughtful set of tips.
It was a great stay feeling right at home.
The location is fabulous , just don't have enough time to sample all the groovy eating spots and cafe's. Very clean and comfortable fitted out with a great sense of style.
It is very pleasant to walk into town , public transport at the corner, very quiet and private and lovely courtyard to wake up to.
Jennifer greeted us as we arrived and gave us a warm welcome and tour of her flat. Jennifer also had a well laid out manual to explain the workings of all appliances and an introduction to the neighbourhood. Her flat is a few minutes walk to a variety of restaurants, interesting shops and a food market. The inner link bus, which runs every ten minutes, is at the end of the block and takes you to many major attractions as well as the harbour and ferries. Very easy to get around! A perfect location for us. We enjoyed Jennifer's bright and clean flat very much and the extra touches (such as milk in the fridge) that added to our stay. Thanks Jennifer!

We really enjoyed staying at Jennifer's place in Ponsonby. The location can't be beaten. Just of Ponsonby road (and free parking!). Communications with Jennifer were easy and friendly. The house is very comfortable and decorated with great eye for detail. Very clean. There is a nice outside area off the living room with bi-fold doors that gets afternoon sun. Next time we'll come to Auckland we hope to stay here again. Thanks!
