In beautiful College Terrace. Walk to Stanford. Perfect for visiting family and friends. Surrounded by shady greenery. Includes Crib (if desired). Full Kitchen. Laundry. Private Garden. 2 Bikes. Sleeps 2-3 (possibly 4 by request).

The Space

Nestle into our cozy, private cottage with room to sleep 2-3 (possibly 4 by special request). Full kitchen, tasteful decor, private garden, ample parking. (2 bikes included)

Located In College Terrace: safe & charming neighborhood, low traffic, quiet. Two blocks from Stanford.

This is about as close as you can possibly get to Stanford campus without actually living on campus. Stays cool because of all the greenery around the cottage.

The house can comfortably fit three people (2 on the queen bed and 1 on the full futon in the living room). A fourth person can sometimes be accommodated by request.

NOTE: It's a "junior bedroom" which, means the bedroom is separated from the living room by a curtain. The curtain can be drawn for complete visual separation and privacy, but there is no wall separating it from the living room. Sound will carry from one space to the other.

Guest Access

The cottage is all yours. You're welcome to use the 27" iMac which also doubles as our TV (we only watch streaming content) PLEASE NOTE: Sometimes the iMac is unavailable, so please inquire before booking if having it during your stay is a necessity. Wifi is always available for your use regardless. Washer and Dryer are in a closet space in the carport. Feel free to use them. Full range of kitchen appliances available. Feel free to buy and cook your own meals here.

Interaction with Guests

We make arrangements to get you into the cottage and we try to always be available by phone to resolve questions or concerns you may have.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is incredibly charming. Tree-lined, green, full of flowers, and unique little homes. It's absolutely worth wandering the neighborhood and seeing all the beautiful homes and cottages tucked in next to each other.

Getting around

Near free (and frequent) shuttle to anywhere on Stanford campus. 4-min bike-ride to California Ave. Caltrain station, restaurants, grocery & shops.

BIKING:
Fastest way to get around Stanford (8-minutes to center of campus). Also fastest way to get to the commercial part of California Ave. for Caltrain, shops, and restaurants (4-min by bike).

University Ave. and the rest of downtown is a 15-min bike ride through Stanford to the other side of campus.

WALKING/PUBLIC TRANSPO:
Going to campus by foot is very easy. Walk two blocks to the free shuttle stop at the intersection of Bowdoin and Pine Hill. It's only a a five-minute walk. Take the "C" shuttle that winds through campus. Shuttles pass every 15 min during peak hours and every 30 min during slow hours.

You can walk to Cal Ave. Caltrain station in about 15 min.

DRIVING:
Parking for one vehicle in carport. Plenty of street parking (but parking time limits exist). 6-min drive to University Ave and downtown Palo Alto.

BIKE USE: Helmets are available for your use. Be certain that you use the provided bike locks to lock up your bike at home and around town/campus. Bike theft is quite common if you present an unlocked target. Technically you can be ticketed for riding at night without attachable bike lights. I've seen it happen several times.

Other Things to Note

Stanford Campus is an easy bike ride away and if you are visiting you should absolutely cruise around the large and amazing campus. You'll find something interesting at every turn. Also the free Cantor Art Center Museum is not to be missed. Rodin sculptures abound!

For a little exercise you shouldn't miss the popular Stanford Dish Hiking trail just a few minutes away. Within easy running, biking or driving distance.

The commercial part of nearby California Ave is quieter and less pretentious than the busier University Ave across campus. Cal Ave is also home to our two favorite restaurants in town: Palo Alto Sol (Mexican), and La Bodeguita (Cuban).

  • We stayed for about 4 days at Christian's
cottage. The house was incredibly clean and organized. The location is gorgeous and Christian lets you use their bikes! I loved biking around Stanford and Palo Alto. The communication with Christian was easy and we had no problems. I would recommend you to stay in this charming cottage if you want a peaceful and beautiful stay.

  • This cottage is small but perfectly formed with everything I needed. Fast wifi, quiet location, great shower etc. Very clean and well stocked with everything needed.
There is only curtain between bedroom and living room to be aware if you were planning to also use sofa bed for extra guests.

  • I stayed at Christian and Lanee's home home on a recent business trip. Not only was the space phenomenal and perfect for me, but the location was unbeatable. The cottage is right in the heart of Palo Alto, walking distance from Stanford and other hot spots in the area. I appreciated the quiet neighborhood. It allowed me to concentrate and get my work done. Christian and Lanee were very accommodating and accessible. There is no doubt that I'd like to stay here again. As a matter of fact, I am little hesitant to tell the world about this great find. It could get too popular, and it may not be available during my next visit to Palo Alto… ;-)

  • We stayed in this small cottage for 8 days. It was perfect for our needs (two adults and one teenager). It was very clean and uncluttered. The bed and futon were all set up for us, which was very helpful given our late arrival. The location cannot be beat -- a quiet residential neighborhood within easy walking distance to Stanford and California Avenue. The only downside was no coffee maker -- that made for a rough first morning! There are several coffee shops within walking distance, but we'd have loved to have had a coffee maker to make our own in the morning. A cheap French press would solve that problem.

  • Great cottage close to Stanford and California Ave. Hosts were gracious and considerate, and left some warm cookies on our arrival. We have two small kids and other than getting a little chilly at night, they were very comfortable. Recommended!

  • My wife, younger son and I stayed at this cottage for nine days in July. The cottage is very neat with a fully equipped kitchen, a queen bed and a futon day-bed, a Mac desktop and Wi-fi, as well as two bikes for cycling around campus. The hosts were very accommodating of our requests and made us feel at home. They had left bagels, milk, homemade granola and yogurt for our breakfast, which was a very thoughtful touch. The best part of this cottage is the location - lovely quiet neighborhood, walking distance to Stanford campus and excellent restaurants on California Ave. It was a wonderful experience and we left wishing we could have stayed longer - definitely beats staying at a hotel!
