About this listing
Large bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Wake up to homemade biscuits and coffee or walk to a great breakfast cafe.
Thanks for checking the Vintage Room for Solo Traveler. It's a large room w/ a super comfy twin bed w/ memory foam and lots of pillows. There are vintage furnishings and tile in the your attached, private bathroom.
It's located in the Historic Evergreen District and just a short walk to Brooks Art Museum, Overton Park, The Levitt Shell, Memphis Zoo, The Hi-Tone, Ecco, a great flea market as well as a wine store a yoga studio and a great gift/art shop.
Downtown distance is approx 2.5 miles.
Parking is very easy, right in front of the house and to unload your bags just pull up in front of the doorsteps for easy access.
I only list this room a few days per month but am always happy to have guests when it's available.
Your stay includes homemade biscuits with jam and coffee :) I don't make gluten free biscuits..sorry.
If you're without wheels you can take "Memphis Hop". While the trolley is great, it's limited to where it will take you. This service takes you to all major attractions and gives you discounts at Stax, Graceland, etc. kind of a win-win. You can access "hop-on" just down the street at Overton Park.
There are FREE concerts at the Levitt Shell in mid-May That's right, Thursday -Sunday weather permitting. It's a magical venue complete with food trucks and ice cold beer.
As I mentioned Memphis zoo is just a few blocks from the house. Sometimes if you lie very still, you can hear a lion roar :)
guests have access to all common areas. There is a tv w/ netflix as well in a very casual room at the end of the hall. very comfy, not fancy.
Interaction with Guests
I have several projects I'm working on but love offering recommendations or if I'm taking a break will enjoy a chat every now and again.
It's great being so close to Memphis Zoo, Brooks Art Musuem, Overton Park, etc. I enjoy having access to some great shops and a yoga studio yet, it's not too crowded and parking is easy. unless you're going to concerts in the park. that can be pretty crowded at times.
Metro Cab, Uber. and if you're adventurous. there's a bus stop just two blocks away. I really do recommend car rental though. Keep in mind not everything of interest is downtown. All things in Memphis are somewhat spread out. There is rarely traffic,
yes it's true! and most tourist destinations are within 1- 2 miles of each other. So if you use Uber or cab it's pretty inexpensive.
Other Things to Note
I don't leave keys for guests. I'll always be here to meet you. If you like to sleep in you should know that there may be guests upstairs and if they have an early flight or get up early, you will hear them getting ready. I always suggest that they wear slippers or socks while walking around in the early morning.
No candles upstairs and smoking only allowed on the screened porch in the front. Also, I ask that you don't use ink pens in the bed.
no reefer smokage.
About the Host, Taryn
I managed a few B&B's for several years before coming to Memphis and thought it would be fun to have my own. Though not exactly the same, there are many perks that are similar. I have a small cookie business/hobby that keeps me pretty busy and I seem to host almost every day. Also I'm a session vocalist. But don't worry, I promise not to break out in song while you're here . My work as a food stylist and catering business owner has served me well over the last few years. It also helps me recommend the best restaurants in not only Memphis but Nashville as well. My diet pretty much consists of organic green juices and cookie dough......yep. it's true!
Spain has been my favorite trip so far. My favorite exercise is floating in lakes or the ocean. I guess it doesn't really count as exercise because I'm super buoyant. I love Tennessee because it's has not one but THREE music cities and that makes it pretty special :)
