About This Listing
Living room features TV, Playstation, and lots of DVDs and Blu-Rays to watch if you opt for quiet night indoors
Offered for sublet is my comfortable, tastefully decorated and super convenient guest room.
Details about the room:
The full sized bed was purchased brand new in spring 2013, and it's really comfortable.
Waiting for you will be clean linens and extra blankets if you need them. Plenty of pillows and towels too, of course.
The room is super quiet; at the back of the apartment, facing a courtyard (not a street) and shielded by greenery.
The room isn't huge as you can see, but the rest of the apartment is open, inviting, and yours to enjoy during your entire visit.
Details about the apartment:
This is possibly the most conveniently-located apartment in all of Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill! You'll be less than half a block away from the subway. Specifically, the F and G trains. The F train will get you to Manhattan in four stops. You can be in the West Village in less than 20 minutes!
You'll have full access to the entire apartment including the dining room table that seats four, and the comfortable living room complete with hundreds of DVD and Blu-Rays you can watch. The kitchen is yours as much as you need it - cook entire meals or just store your leftovers, whatever you prefer.
The bathroom we will share is pretty big for NYC standards (bath AND shower) and the water pressure is great. Oh, and it stays hot!
The apartment has two air conditioners (though there is NOT one inside this room). Also, heat in my building is controlled by the tenant so in winter months you're never too hot or too cold!
We keep the apartment immaculate and clutter free, so you can be guaranteed a homey but very clean space.
We have two very friendly, sweet cats that were born in February 2014. They are not allowed into this guest bedroom, but you'll definitely run into them in the common areas.
I am an 8-year resident of NYC. I work in market research in midtown. I live now in the apartment with my husband Josh who is a filmmaker. We love watching movies, walking around the neighborhood, discovering local cafes and restaurants, reading, etc.
Both of us will be there (sleeping in the master bedroom) during your stay but we won't be disturbed if you wake up early, come home late, etc. We're both quiet, accommodating, friendly, flexible, and can't wait to tell you all about our beautiful neighborhood and help you have a wonderful stay in NYC.
I prefer guests message me first before booking a reservation. I will do my best to reply quickly!
Our apartment is on the border of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, which gives you instant access to all the great shopping, bars and restaurants along Smith Street and Court Street. Enjoy brunch on the weekends, enticing happy hours on weekday evenings, stores that sell handmade pillows, one of a kind greeting cards, candles, comfy shoes, jewelry, and more. There's even a specialty DVD rental store.
If you're bringing a car, it's pretty easy (for NYC anyway) to find street parking. Plus, there are plenty of lots nearby.
If you're looking for a little glitz and glamour during your visit, keep your eyes pealed for Allesandro Nivola, Keri Russell, Hope Davis, Tony Shalhoub, Ethan Hawke and more - they all live in the neighborhood!
You could not imagine an apartment more conveniently located to the subway. People love this the most about our place. There is no chance of getting lost, and you are "home" the second you step off the train!
No smoking in the apartment, please.
I'll ask that you be very quiet in the hallways since I live in a very small building with only two other tenants and it's important they not be disturbed.
Staying at Dorothy s House was a wonderful experience ! The location is perfect, very near the metro and plenty of lovely supermarkets and restaurants. The room is very comfortable and the apartment very well equipped. Dorothy and Josh are wonderful hosts, very relaxed, helpful and easy going. Special mention to my friends Gracie and Lester....They are absolutely divine and loving! I would definetly recommend this wonderful family!!
Appartment was in a great location right across from the subway station. The room was very comfortable and Dorothy and Josh were both very friendly and helpful! As a young female travelling alone I felt very safe and welcome.
We had a great time in NY!
Dorothy and Josh are great Hosts. We liked a lot the apartment.
It's very comfortable and it's placed in a beatiful zone of Brooklyn near the bridge.
It has the Metro a few meters of the door and it's a snap to go
manhattan from there. It is also a 24 hours grocery just crossing the street, a dunkin donuts and dominoes in the same block. It's very convenient. We will back for sure!!!!!
See you soon Dorothy and Josh!!! And thanks you a lot for everything. I was great to meet you.

Dorothy took the time to recommend not only local areas of interest but also places in another state where my sister will be for the summer. Common and private areas were clean and cozy.
Everything was GREAT! Close to where we wanted to be. Great ice cream, coffee and music right across the street. Subway was perfect. Parking was a challenge, but we shouldn't drive in NY anyway.
Dorothy was an excellent host during my stay in NYC. She was very welcoming and nice, she gave me tips on restaurants and how to use the subway. The room was super clean with everything that I needed at hand. Overall, my experience at Dorothy house was excellent and I truly recommend it to everyone who is traveling to NYC. On my next trip to NYC I will definitely try to stay with Dorothy
