Living room features TV, Playstation, and lots of DVDs and Blu-Rays to watch if you opt for quiet night indoors
Offered for sublet is my comfortable, tastefully decorated and super convenient guest room.
Details about the room:
The full sized bed was purchased brand new in spring 2013, and it's really comfortable.
Waiting for you will be clean linens and extra blankets if you need them. Plenty of pillows and towels too, of course.
The room is super quiet; at the back of the apartment, facing a courtyard (not a street) and shielded by greenery.
The room isn't huge as you can see, but the rest of the apartment is open, inviting, and yours to enjoy during your entire visit.
Details about the apartment:
This is possibly the most conveniently-located apartment in all of Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill! You'll be less than half a block away from the subway. Specifically, the F and G trains. The F train will get you to Manhattan in four stops. You can be in the West Village in less than 20 minutes!
You'll have full access to the entire apartment including the dining room table that seats four, and the comfortable living room complete with hundreds of DVD and Blu-Rays you can watch. The kitchen is yours as much as you need it - cook entire meals or just store your leftovers, whatever you prefer.
The bathroom we will share is pretty big for NYC standards (bath AND shower) and the water pressure is great. Oh, and it stays hot!
The apartment has two air conditioners (though there is NOT one inside this room). Also, heat in my building is controlled by the tenant so in winter months you're never too hot or too cold!
We keep the apartment immaculate and clutter free, so you can be guaranteed a homey but very clean space.
We have two very friendly, sweet cats that were born in February 2014. They are not allowed into this guest bedroom, but you'll definitely run into them in the common areas.
I am an 8-year resident of NYC. I work in market research in midtown. I live now in the apartment with my fiance Josh who is a filmmaker. We love watching movies, walking around the neighborhood, discovering local cafes and restaurants, reading, etc.
Both of us will be there (sleeping in the master bedroom) during your stay but we won't be disturbed if you wake up early, come home late, etc. We're both quiet, accommodating, friendly, flexible, and can't wait to tell you all about our beautiful neighborhood and help you have a wonderful stay in NYC.
I prefer guests message me first before booking a reservation. I will do my best to reply quickly!
Our apartment is on the border of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, which gives you instant access to all the great shopping, bars and restaurants along Smith Street and Court Street. Enjoy brunch on the weekends, enticing happy hours on weekday evenings, stores that sell handmade pillows, one of a kind greeting cards, candles, comfy shoes, jewelry, and more. There's even a specialty DVD rental store.
If you're bringing a car, it's pretty easy (for NYC anyway) to find street parking. Plus, there are plenty of lots nearby.
If you're looking for a little glitz and glamour during your visit, keep your eyes pealed for Allesandro Nivola, Keri Russell, Hope Davis, Tony Shalhoub, Ethan Hawke and more - they all live in the neighborhood!
You could not imagine an apartment more conveniently located to the subway. People love this the most about our place. There is no chance of getting lost, and you are "home" the second you step off the train!
No smoking in the apartment, please.
I'll ask that you be very quiet in the hallways since I live in a very small building with only two other tenants and it's important they not be disturbed.
Everything was GREAT! Close to where we wanted to be. Great ice cream, coffee and music right across the street. Subway was perfect. Parking was a challenge, but we shouldn't drive in NY anyway.
Found this serendipitously at the last minute for a short work related visit and so glad. Dorothy and Josh have a very sweet apt and are both super nice people. The neighborhood is perfect and location to subway could not be closer. If you are a cat person you will also love the super friendly Lester and Grace. I would definitely choose to stay again. This location is mabye 10 minutes from lower Manhattan
Place was clean, quiet and, as advertised, very convenient to the subway -- mere steps. Sorry I didn't get to meet Dorothy, who was out of town, but everything was as it should be.
The neighborhood was quite interesting. On Sunday, I walked around a bit and visited some open shops. There were abundant restaurants (good sushi) and a nice corner bar with good beer. Highly recommended.
Dorothy and Josh are really nice people and made us feel very welcome. The neighborhood is great (you have to eat pancakes at Cafe Luluc) and the subway is only a few steps away. We definitely recommend staying here.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Dorothyàs place for 9 days and we would definitely go back...right now! Dorothy was super nice and welcoming and we had a long email thread even before meeting about best places to visit/things to do in NYC. The space wehad in the flat was perfect and weàve ven enjoyed staying home for a couple of nighs, watching movies from the massive DVDs collection Dorothy has. No need to say the two cats Gracie and Lester were the superstars of the flat.
Subway literally at 10 steps from the door.
Quiet room in a great location. Dorothy was travelling while I was in Brooklyn, but I got all the information needed and her friend Josh - and the two cats - made me feel welcome. Josh even made me chili on the evening of 'the blizzard that wasn't', when NYC for once shut down. Great local tips from Dorothy, 61 Local a bit further down on Bergen St is a real find whether it's for a relaxed coffee in the morning or a great craft beer at night. Other great places I can recommend a bit further afield in Brooklyn: Allswell in Williamsburg and Vinegar Hill House next to the Navy Yards.

I've lived in NYC for eight years. I recently moved from the West Village to the Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn and I absolutely love it.
My biggest interests are movies and travel and I try to combine the two as much as possible.
I work in entertainment market research.
I love helping people have a great visit to NYC, so if you have any questions about what to do or see or how to get around, I'm happy to assist!
