The Space

Offered for sublet is my comfortable, tastefully decorated and super convenient guest room.

Details about the room:

The full sized bed was purchased brand new in spring 2013, and it's really comfortable.

Waiting for you will be clean linens and extra blankets if you need them. Plenty of pillows and towels too, of course.

The room is super quiet; at the back of the apartment, facing a courtyard (not a street) and shielded by greenery.

The room isn't huge as you can see, but the rest of the apartment is open, inviting, and yours to enjoy during your entire visit.

Details about the apartment:

This is possibly the most conveniently-located apartment in all of Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill! You'll be less than half a block away from the subway. Specifically, the F and G trains. The F train will get you to Manhattan in four stops. You can be in the West Village in less than 20 minutes!

You'll have full access to the entire apartment including the dining room table that seats four, and the comfortable living room complete with hundreds of DVD and Blu-Rays you can watch. The kitchen is yours as much as you need it - cook entire meals or just store your leftovers, whatever you prefer.

The bathroom is pretty big for NYC standards (bath AND shower) and the water pressure is great. Oh, and it stays hot!

The apartment has two air conditioners (though there is NOT one inside this room). Also, heat in my building is controlled by the tenant so in winter months you're never too hot or too cold!

We keep the apartment immaculate and clutter free, so you can be guaranteed a homey but very clean space.

We have two very friendly, sweet kittens that were born in February 2014. They are not allowed into this guest bedroom, but you'll run into them in the common areas.

About Me:

I am an 8-year resident of NYC. I work in market research in midtown. I live now in the apartment with my fiance Josh. We love watching movies, walking around the neighborhood, discovering local cafes and restaurants, reading, etc.

Both of us will be there (sleeping in the master bedroom) during your stay but we won't be disturbed if you wake up early, come home late, etc. We're both quiet, accommodating, friendly, flexible, and can't wait to tell you all about our beautiful neighborhood and help you have a wonderful stay in NYC.

I prefer guests message me first before booking a reservation. I will do my best to reply quickly!

The Neighborhood

Our apartment is on the border of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, which gives you instant access to all the great shopping, bars and restaurants along Smith Street and Court Street. Enjoy brunch on the weekends, enticing happy hours on weekday evenings, stores that sell handmade pillows, one of a kind greeting cards, candles, comfy shoes, jewelry, and more. There's even a specialty DVD rental store.

If you're bringing a car, it's pretty easy (for NYC anyway) to find street parking. Plus, there are plenty of lots nearby.

If you're looking for a little glitz and glamour during your visit, keep your eyes pealed for Allesandro Nivola, Keri Russell, Hope Davis, Tony Shalhoub, Ethan Hawke and more - they all live in the neighborhood!

  • It was really nice staying at Dorothy's apartment! The neighbourhood is awesome: there is a hipster coffee shop right across the street, around the corner you will find of the best sushi I ever tried (Ki sushi) and a really good and well known pizza place is also quite close called Lucali. It is also a perfect place to hop on the subway because the station Bergen Street is directly a few steps away from the door! Dorothy is a really nice host and we loved the kittens :)

  • I would definitely stay here again! Great location, very close to the subway and good coffee. The apartment was exactly what I needed for recharging after long days wandering around. I didn't get a chance to meet Dorothy but she was great to deal with prior to my reservation. I met her partner briefly and he was very pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. The two kittens were the VERY adorable icing on the cake. :)

  • This was my first Airbnb experience, and it was great. Dorothy's place is close to the subway (it really couldn't get closer), near great amenities (the coffee shop across the street is a nice place to hang out) and we had everything we needed. The kitties were also a great perk. Thanks again Dorothy and Josh!

  • Dorothy was absolutely fantastic host. She helped us to get around gave us useful advice.
The place is just above the metro station but still quite and peaceful. Just the best place to stay if you visit NY.

If we visit NY again will definitely stay there.

  • We loved staying at Dor's place. It was an extremely convenient location, close to all the necessities (Trader Joe's, 24-hour Rite Aid, laundry, bagel and coffee shops) and the subway (1 direct line to Manhattan and another station with express trains only one stop away, or a ten-minute walk). The room was clean and the apartment is beautifully decorated. The room is also small but overlooks a backyard full of trees, so street noise is nonexistent. Dor has a huge selection of DVDs and offered to use full use of her entertainment systems, although we didn't have much time to do so! Overall it was a perfect stay (and our first time using Airbnb). We will definitely stay at Dor's place again when we visit NYC.

  • We stayed in NY from 2-9 June and then left for Washington DC. We liked Dorothy's place so much that when we came back to NY we stayed at her place again from 14-18 June. She's a perfect host, friendly and lovely.

  • Thanks again to Dorothy and Josh for our very nice stay in Brooklyn. The flat is ideally situated, very close to Bergen Street subway station: with the F line, we got to South Manhattan in only ten minutes. JFK airport is also very easy and fast to reach from Bergen Street.
Dorothy and Josh were so discreet that, sometimes, we thought the appartment was ours! But they were ready to provide information we needed at any time very kindly, and it has been a real pleasure to discuss with them... and train our English.
Our room, located at the back of the appartment, even if not large, was quiet and comfortable.
Just one remark about the cleanliness of the bathtub and the bathmat which could be addressed.
Despite this point (easy to solve), we've really really enjoyed our stay in this appartment, once again perfectly located for discovering NYC.

  • This was my first time with Airbnb and I don´t know if I was extremely lucky but Dorothy was the perfect host; very welcoming and had good tips when I wondered about things. The apartment was also in a good area. I recommend!

About
Hi! I've lived in NYC for eight years. I recently moved from the West Village to the Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn and I absolutely love it. My biggest interests are movies and travel and I try to combine the two as much as possible. I work in entertainment market research. I love helping people have a great visit to NYC, so if you have any questions about what to do or see or how to get around, I'm happy to assist!
