Colorful, quiet, & near the subway!

Apartment - Private room · Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States

The Space

Offered for sublet is my comfortable, tastefully decorated and super convenient guest room.

Details about the room:

The full sized bed was purchased brand new in spring 2013, and it's really comfortable.

Waiting for you will be clean linens and extra blankets if you need them. Plenty of pillows and towels too, of course.

The room is super quiet; at the back of the apartment, facing a courtyard (not a street) and shielded by greenery.

The room isn't huge as you can see, but the rest of the apartment is open, inviting, and yours to enjoy during your entire visit.

Details about the apartment:

This is possibly the most conveniently-located apartment in all of Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill! You'll be less than half a block away from the subway. Specifically, the F and G trains. The F train will get you to Manhattan in four stops. You can be in the West Village in less than 20 minutes!

You'll have full access to the entire apartment including the dining room table that seats four, and the comfortable living room complete with hundreds of DVD and Blu-Rays you can watch at your (website hidden), too! The kitchen is yours as much as you need it - cook entire meals or just store your leftovers, the choice is yours.

The bathroom is pretty big for NYC standards (bath AND shower) and the water pressure is great. Oh, and it stays hot!

The apartment has two air conditioners (though not inside this room). Also, heat in my building is controlled by the tenant so in winter months you're never too hot or too cold!

We keep the apartment immaculate and clutter free, so you can be guaranteed a homey but very clean space.

About the neighborhood:

My apartment is on the border of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, which gives you instant access to all the great shopping, bars and restaurants along Smith Street and Court Street. Enjoy brunch on the weekends, enticing happy hours on weekday evenings, stores that sell handmade pillows, one of a kind greeting cards, candles, comfy shoes, jewelry, and more. There's even a specialty DVD rental store.

If you're bringing a car, it's pretty easy (for NYC anyway) to find street parking. Plus, there are plenty of lots nearby.

If you're looking for a little glitz and glamour during your visit, keep your eyes pealed for Michelle Williams, Keri Russell, Hope Davis, Tony Shalhoub, Ethan Hawke and more - they all live in the neighborhood!

About Me:

I am an 8-year resident of NYC. I work in market research in midtown. I live now in the apartment with my boyfriend Josh. We love watching movies, walking around the neighborhood, discovering local cafes and restaurants, reading, etc.

Both of us will be there (sleeping in the master bedroom) during your stay but we won't be disturbed if you wake up early, come home late, etc. We're both quiet, accommodating, friendly, flexible, and can't wait to tell you all about our beautiful neighborhood and help you have a wonderful stay in NYC.

NOTE - You may notice I also rent out another bedroom of this apartment. Rest assured I never rent out both bedrooms at the same time - always one or the other. You will not be staying with any other Airbnb renters during your stay.

Also note that before I moved to Brooklyn I used to rent out my Manhattan apartment, so while I may not have a ton of reviews yet for this place, I do have a lot of them for my old apartment which should help you get a sense for my guests' experience with me as a host.

I prefer guests message me first before booking a reservation. I will do my best to reply quickly!

  • Wonderful place. Location is great and it is a very nice neughborhood. Only 30 minutes from midtown manhattan. Dorothy and Josh are awesome. They helped us a lot, and also gave us a map made by them where we could find place to eat, shop, etc.
    We would definitely come back.

  • Great apartment and Dorothy was a really good host. She gave us a list of places to go. The apartment is right next to the subway and with easy access to all the places you need to go.

  • We were staying with Dorothy for 6 days. We were very well received and our stay was excellent. The underground side of the building, makes it easy. The Broklyn offers bars, markets and restaurares, all day. It was great. Highly recommend.

  • Dorothy & Josh couldn't have been better hosts. They are really friendly & welcoming people with a charming home and my gal and I really enjoyed our visit. Their Brooklyn apartment is a clean, cheerful retreat in one of the borough's coolest neighborhoods & had everything we needed: the subway, tons of great food, and shops. We stayed in their quiet guest room - that had a really comfortable guest bed - and got a great night's sleep. We felt safe in the neighborhood even when we came back late one night. If you get a chance to stay with them, do it - you'll be happy you did.

  • Dorothy and Josh are excellent hosts! My partner and I are very pleased with our stay. The location is splendid and the apartment is comfortable, but most importantly, Dorothy and Josh are so inviting, resourceful and considerate. I will totally reserve this spot again if I ever need to. I couldn't be more satisfied.

  • Situated in one of the best part of Brooklyn, Dorothy's house is smart and very comfortable. You can see squirrel from the bedroom's window in the morning and have a real italian expresso coffee in the bar just in front of the door. Dorothy was not there but Josh was great and we didn't miss her! We really spent a great time there guys!

About
Hi! I've lived in NYC for eight years. I recently moved from the West Village to the Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn and I absolutely love it. My biggest interests are movies and travel and I try to combine the two as much as possible. I work in entertainment market research. I love helping people have a great visit to NYC, so if you have any questions about what to do or see or how to get around, I'm happy to assist!
