About this listing
Living room features TV, Playstation, and lots of DVDs and Blu-Rays to watch if you opt for quiet night indoors
Offered for sublet is my comfortable, tastefully decorated and super convenient guest room.
Details about the room:
The full sized bed was purchased brand new in spring 2013, and it's really comfortable.
Waiting for you will be clean linens and extra blankets if you need them. Plenty of pillows and towels too, of course.
The room is super quiet; at the back of the apartment, facing a courtyard (not a street) and shielded by greenery.
The room isn't huge as you can see, but the rest of the apartment is open, inviting, and yours to enjoy during your entire visit.
Details about the apartment:
This is possibly the most conveniently-located apartment in all of Cobble Hill / Boerum Hill! You'll be less than half a block away from the subway. Specifically, the F and G trains. The F train will get you to Manhattan in four stops. You can be in the West Village in less than 20 minutes!
You'll have full access to the entire apartment including the dining room table that seats four, and the comfortable living room complete with hundreds of DVD and Blu-Rays you can watch. The kitchen is yours as much as you need it - cook entire meals or just store your leftovers, whatever you prefer.
The bathroom we will share is pretty big for NYC standards (bath AND shower) and the water pressure is great. Oh, and it stays hot!
The apartment has two air conditioners (though there is NOT one inside this room). Also, heat in my building is controlled by the tenant so in winter months you're never too hot or too cold!
We keep the apartment immaculate and clutter free, so you can be guaranteed a homey but very clean space.
We have two very friendly, sweet cats that were born in February 2014. They are not allowed into this guest bedroom, but you'll definitely run into them in the common areas.
I am an 8-year resident of NYC. I work in market research in midtown. I live now in the apartment with my husband Josh who is a filmmaker. We love watching movies, walking around the neighborhood, discovering local cafes and restaurants, reading, etc.
Both of us will be there (sleeping in the master bedroom) during your stay but we won't be disturbed if you wake up early, come home late, etc. We're both quiet, accommodating, friendly, flexible, and can't wait to tell you all about our beautiful neighborhood and help you have a wonderful stay in NYC.
I prefer guests message me first before booking a reservation. I will do my best to reply quickly!
Our apartment is on the border of Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill, which gives you instant access to all the great shopping, bars and restaurants along Smith Street and Court Street. Enjoy brunch on the weekends, enticing happy hours on weekday evenings, stores that sell handmade pillows, one of a kind greeting cards, candles, comfy shoes, jewelry, and more. There's even a specialty DVD rental store.
If you're bringing a car, it's pretty easy (for NYC anyway) to find street parking. Plus, there are plenty of lots nearby.
If you're looking for a little glitz and glamour during your visit, keep your eyes pealed for Allesandro Nivola, Keri Russell, Hope Davis, Tony Shalhoub, Ethan Hawke and more - they all live in the neighborhood!
You could not imagine an apartment more conveniently located to the subway. People love this the most about our place. There is no chance of getting lost, and you are "home" the second you step off the train!
No smoking in the apartment, please.
I'll ask that you be very quiet in the hallways since I live in a very small building with only two other tenants and it's important they not be disturbed.
Dorothy was an excellent host! The place was clean and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. It was our first time in Brooklyn, and she helped us out with some awesome restaurant recommendations. We will definitely come back here if we stay in Brooklyn again!
I would recommend staying at Dorothy's place.
Dorothy was very easy going and made us feel very comfortable in her house. Checking in and checking out was easy as she was happy to fit in with our schedule. Dorothy also provided us with some great suggestions of what to do in the area when we asked and also for our ongoing travels. The apartment It is literally next door to the subway so travelling anywhere is easy and it is only a short ride into Manhattan. The bed is a bit sensitive to movement, but was comfortable and there is plenty of room to put your bags. We also put some items in the fridge and visited the awesome coffee shop across the road each day!
We have a great time in Dorothy's home! She and Josh are very kind people. Dorothy helps us a lot on our trip in NY. Their friends are very nice, too. We had great talking on Culture\Politics\etc.
The location is super good in Brooklyn as the subway station is just downstairs, so we can come back late and don't need to concern about safety. Dorothy have everything you need, such as hair dryer, map etc. The room is clean, quiet, enough for 2 people, and we are free to stay in the living room as well.
Really recommend! next time I come to NY , I will definitely choose Dorothy' place again.
Dorothy and Josh were great hosts and their apartment was really good and especially the location was perfect. Room was big enough for two and we also were able to have some space from the fridge and use the kitchen. Area were the apartment was located was nice and full of good restaurants and little shops. Subway entrance was right next door from the apartment and it was easy and fast to travel to Manhattan and Coney Island. Also two cats were nice and friendly. Highly recommended!
We had a very good experience at Dorothy's home. The description of the room is accurate. Dorothy provides to her guests all details needed before and during their stay and some very useful tips in the neighborhood.
Our privacy was respected, our questions/hesitations were kindly answered, our stay was just great!
The neighborhood is very nice, with lots of shops and very dynamic. The subway station is downstairs, but we also had a pleasant walk to the Brooklyn Bridge and it was fun.
As for the subway, we were at 3 stations away from Manhattan, and the subway line has a stop at Penn Station, which avoids many connections.
Staying at Dorothy s House was a wonderful experience ! The location is perfect, very near the metro and plenty of lovely supermarkets and restaurants. The room is very comfortable and the apartment very well equipped. Dorothy and Josh are wonderful hosts, very relaxed, helpful and easy going. Special mention to my friends Gracie and Lester....They are absolutely divine and loving! I would definetly recommend this wonderful family!!
