Welcome to one of the Bay Area's most popular Airbnb accommodations. We were recently elevated to Superhost status, based on an overwhelming majority of 5-star reviews.
This is a private guest suite in the lower level of a Craftsman-style house in the sunny, popular Rockridge neighborhood.
Cozy bedroom with queen-size bed, four goose-down pillows and high-quality linen. Small bathroom with shower (no tub). Large living room/kitchen combination.
Private entrance. Peaceful, fully landscaped back yard with patio table, umbrella and chairs. Great for eating outdoors.
Your own parking space in my driveway.
The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, toaster, tea kettle and coffee maker. You'll have complimentary orange juice, bagels, cream cheese and butter, oatmeal, a pitcher of cold filtered water. Tea and coffee.
Rockridge is on the Oakland/Berkeley border. My house is two blocks from College Ave., which has dozens of restaurants and cafes, two bookstores, hair salons, gift shops, Trader Joe's market, a yoga studio and great transportation (BART station two blocks away).
You're a 5-minute walk from Market Hall, a great food emporium with a bakery, coffee house, gourmet deli, wine shop, produce market, florist, fish market and meat market.
You're two blocks from a BART train that takes you to San Francisco in 20 minutes or downtown/uptown Oakland in 8 minutes; and a bus that takes you directly to the U.C. Berkeley campus in 10 minutes. Easy freeway access to San Francisco, Marin County, Napa Valley, Silicon Valley.
I also provide lists of suggested restaurants and sights, guide books on San Francisco Bay Area for you to borrow. I've lived in the Bay Area 40 years and I know the area very well.
-- The ceilings in the guest suite are low: 6 and a half feet.
-- There may be a small amount of noise coming from upstairs where I live.
-- Living room sofa is 4.5 feet long, not big enough for sleeping.
-- No television.
-- I have a 4-year-old Labrador Retriever who will be in the back yard occasionally. She's the friendliest and prettiest dog on earth.
Interaction with Guests
My first priority is to give my guests as much privacy and quiet as you need. I'm also happy to be the concierge and share info about getting around the Bay Area, finding good restaurants, etc. I know what it's like to be a visitor in an unfamiliar place, and if I can make the logistics easier for you then that makes me feel great.
So close and accessible to San Francisco, but less expensive and a lot more manageable. We're generally 5 to 10 degrees warmer than S.F. Rockridge is a wonderful neighborhood for strolling. Trees, beautiful gardens. Great shops and restaurants.
-- Number one rule: Relax and enjoy yourselves!
-- No extra overnight guests. Two people maximum.
-- If you are booking for yourself and subsequently wish to add a second person, this has to be approv
ed in advance.
-- You'll be entering the guest suite through the back-yard garden. Make sure back-yard gate is closed tight at all times, so Lucy the dog doesn't get out.
-- No music or loud noise after 10 p.m.
-- No pets, tobacco or rowdy behavior.
-- Respect the property and keep it clean -- especially kitchen and bathroom.
-- Wash any dishes you use.
-- No red meat cooked in the house.
-- No dental floss, paper towels or feminine napkins in toilet. Only toilet paper.
Edward and Lucy were excellent hosts! It is a super nice neighborhood. Very safe and close to the Bart Station that takes you to SF in about 20 Minutes. The appartment was arranged very caring and cosy. It was equipped with everything you need. Edward left a lot of brouchures and travel guides. He also send us an email with a lot of things to do around Oakland and San Francsisco. We felt very welcome at Edwards house and Lucy is a very friendly dog! Hope to come back soon! Thanks a lot Edward!
Edward made us feel immediately at home in his charming, clean and comfortable apartment. Everything you might need is at hand, including tourist information and great recommendations. Edward even took the time to write us an email with several suggestions to make the most of our short stay in SF. This host totally gets the air bnb experience and I would not hesitate to recommend this to anybody.
The apartment was perfect, clean and airy. I loved having a washer and dryer. The location central. There's a bart station within easy walking distance. Very safe neighborhood. There was off street parking. It was quiet and comfortable to sleep. A peaceful garden with lemons. The host made sure I was safely in and had no further concerns, but left me a contact if something came up. For the money, its the best deal possible.
Thank you, Edward. The other five-star reviews are right: an excellent experience, very convenient location and attentive host. Beautifully kept garden and apartment. And who couldn't love Miss Lucy! Considering it? Enjoy your stay here!
This was one of our favorite places we've stayed through Airbnb! Edward was very welcoming, and has obviously put a lot of thought into creating a space that will meet all of a person's needs. Very comfortable bed, attractive furnishings, clean, beautiful garden -- we hope to stay there often!
This has been one of my favorite Airbnb experiences to date. Not only was the location excellent (2 blocks from shopping, food, BART, coffee, etc), but Edward went above and beyond to make us feel at home.
The unit is a bright mother-in-law with many windows. The kitchen is well-equipped and the living and dining area have everything you could need for two people. There is no TV, but we were so busy exploring that we didn't even miss it!
The bedroom is big and bright with a comfortable bed.
The bathroom is roomy and clean. The shower is pretty small (no tub, and only enough room for one person), but the water pressure was a dream and there was classy shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided.
The whole unit was very clean and comfortable! There are even a couple of amazing space heaters in case it gets cold.
Edward was communicative, flexible, and unobtrusive- a great host!
We will be coming back for sure!
My wife & I arrived and were cordially greeted by Edward & Lucy the dog. We were early to check -in, but hungry and received directions to a nice restaurant close by. The neighborhood was very safe accommodations were fine and close to public transportation. He also supplied nice touches to breakfast that made it feel like home. If I return to San Francisco I would check to see if his abode is available. Thank You Edward we had a nice stay.

I became an Airbnb host in June 2013 and I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. I get a lot of satisfaction from creating a comfortable, peaceful home-away-from-home for my guests.
