About this listing
My 1912 Craftsman-style bungalow. Entrance to guest suite is through the back yard. Driveway reserved for my guests.
Welcome to one of the Bay Area's most popular Airbnb accommodations. We were recently elevated to Superhost status, based on an overwhelming majority of 5-star reviews.
This is a private guest suite in the lower level of a Craftsman-style house in the sunny, popular Rockridge neighborhood.
Cozy bedroom with queen-size bed, four goose-down pillows and high-quality linen. Small bathroom with shower (no tub). Large living room/kitchen combination.
Private entrance. Peaceful, fully landscaped back yard with patio table, umbrella and chairs. Great for eating outdoors.
Your own parking space in my driveway.
The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, gas stove, toaster, tea kettle and coffee maker. You'll have complimentary orange juice, bagels, cream cheese and butter, oatmeal, a pitcher of cold filtered water. Tea and coffee.
Rockridge is on the Oakland/Berkeley border. My house is two blocks from College Ave., which has dozens of restaurants and cafes, two bookstores, hair salons, gift shops, Trader Joe's market, a yoga studio and great transportation (BART station two blocks away).
You're a 5-minute walk from Market Hall, a great food emporium with a bakery, coffee house, gourmet deli, wine shop, produce market, florist, fish market and meat market.
You're two blocks from a BART train that takes you to San Francisco in 20 minutes or downtown/uptown Oakland in 8 minutes; and a bus that takes you directly to the U.C. Berkeley campus in 10 minutes. Easy freeway access to San Francisco, Marin County, Napa Valley, Silicon Valley.
I also provide lists of suggested restaurants and sights, guide books on San Francisco Bay Area for you to borrow. I've lived in the Bay Area 40 years and I know the area very well.
-- The ceilings in the guest suite are low: 6 and a half feet.
-- There may be a small amount of noise coming from upstairs where I live.
-- Living room sofa is 4.5 feet long, not big enough for sleeping.
-- No television.
-- I have a 4-year-old Labrador Retriever who will be in the back yard occasionally. She's the friendliest and prettiest dog on earth.
Interaction with Guests
My first priority is to give my guests as much privacy and quiet as you need. I'm also happy to be the concierge and share info about getting around the Bay Area, finding good restaurants, etc. I know what it's like to be a visitor in an unfamiliar place, and if I can make the logistics easier for you then that makes me feel great.
So close and accessible to San Francisco, but less expensive and a lot more manageable. We're generally 5 to 10 degrees warmer than S.F. Rockridge is a wonderful neighborhood for strolling. Trees, beautiful gardens. Great shops and restaurants.
-- Number one rule: Relax and enjoy yourselves!
-- No extra overnight guests. Two people maximum.
-- If you are booking for yourself and subsequently wish to add a second person, this has to be approv
ed in advance.
-- You'll be entering the guest suite through the back-yard garden. Make sure back-yard gate is closed tight at all times, so Lucy the dog doesn't get out.
-- No music or loud noise after 10 p.m.
-- No pets, tobacco or rowdy behavior.
-- Respect the property and keep it clean -- especially kitchen and bathroom.
-- Wash any dishes you use.
-- No red meat cooked in the house.
-- No dental floss, paper towels or feminine napkins in toilet. Only toilet paper.
Our stay at Edwards house was great. Quiet neighbouhood and nice host.
He leave for us orange juice, bagels, cheese cream, etc. a very good detail when you are tired after a city tour day.
thank you so much!!
A really lovely comfortable and peaceful place to stay. Perfect location for visiting the city and minutes from a lovely high street. The apartment had everything including lots of excellent books on things to do. Edward was an excellent host, he will even lend you his gorgeous dog Lucy if you want. We will definitely stay again when we come back to San Francisco. Thanks Edward.
Edward was a very gracious host and the apartment was very comfortable for our stay. The back patio was particularly pleasant for breakfast and lunch. The neighborhood is lovely and everything (coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and BART) is within easy walking distance.
We were warmly wecomed by Edward who remained attentive throughout our 5 day stay. The accomodations were terrific: bedroom, living/dining room and kitchen. We were very comfortable and especially enjoyed the private garden. Edward had a supply of interesting guidebooks and a great little library. The location was so convenient to College Avenue/BART/Rockridge Market. We will definitely return on our next trip to Berkeley/Oakland area.
Great place! Edward had all sorts of juice, coffee and snacks available. The apartment is very quiet, peaceful and serene. Also very clean.
Edward's apartment was perfect for our short stay in Oakland. The apartment was clean and comfortable, just the right amount of space for my husband and me. The location was ideal - in a very cute neighborhood and just a short walk to the BART train into San Francisco. We loved walking up and down College Ave and especially the market close to the apartment, which has coffee, a bakery, pastas, meats, fish - it was fun to wander through. Unfortunately, we missed seeing Lucy the Lab - she would have been the perfect addition to hanging out in the backyard drinking coffee and enjoying the garden. All in all, a very pleasant stay.
Edward was waiting for me after my plane had arrived late at night.
His dog is friendly and sweet.
Loved finding juice and bagels when i woke up my first morning.
The place is really conveniently located and has everything necessary
for a visit to the area. I was able to walk to my daughter's apartment
further into Oakland as well as to the hospital where she gave birth during my stay.
