Nice bright room in a two-bedroom, one bath Manhattan apartment with a full size bed and chaise lounge! There are 2 windows and an air conditioner in the room. We have a nice kitchen with all of the cooking supplies you would ever need available for your use. We have a very clean brand new bathroom with a tub and shower.
We've lived in the city for years and know all the best places to go to get the best slice of NYC pizza, where to go to take the best pictures of the Statute of Liberty, the best bars and clubs for dancing, etc! Just ask us!
We value diversity and love to meet people from different countries, cultures, ethnicities, religions, LGBTQ people, etc!
We have a SUPER sweet two-year old dog named Gracie. She never barks, doesn't beg for food and loves to cuddle and play if you let her, if not, she'll just play with us!
Our house is your house! When you arrive, you will have your own key to the apartment to enter and leave whenever you want. The apartment is smoke free however there is a lot of nice outdoor space you can use to smoke (one large park directly across the street and two gardens on both sides of the apartment building).
You will be sharing the apartment with my sister and I, but you will have your own private room. We love to interact with our guests, but we understand that sometimes you just want to come back and relax without having to socialize which is totally okay too!
Spanish Harlem has plenty of restaurants, bars and coffee shops (and tons of food delivery if you just want to order in). There are supermarkets including a Target and deli's everywhere, many are 24-hours. We are close to many parks including Central Park.
We're close to the 6 subway line and close to many bus lines to take you anywhere you want to go!
FROM THE AIRPORT:
- JFK airport: You can take the subway (public transportation) and it costs $2.50 USD. Take the "Airtrain" to the E train (blue line) towards Manhattan. Transfer at Lexington Ave/53rd Street to the 6 train (green line) going north. A private taxi cab costs $52 USD.
- La Guardia airport: You can take a bus (public transportation) and it costs $2.50 USD. You must have coins or a subway card for the bus, it does not accept bills. Take the M60 bus (transfer at 125th Street) to the M15 bus. A private taxi cab costs $25 plus a $7.50 toll for the bridge.
If you want to check-in at a time when we're not home we can arrange to get the keys to you so you can let yourself inside. If you have a late arrival or departure, no problem, NYC is a 24/7 city and you're welcome to come and go as you please!
We look forward to meeting you! :-)
We stayed at Ericas and Tayos place in Manhattan for two nights. The apartment and the room we stayed are very nice. The place is easily to reach by subway. Our hosts were very nice and helpful. We would absolutely recommend staying there. Thanks a lot :)
We had a very good time in NY. Erica and Tayo are lovely, also their dog. It was easy to use the kitchen and oven, and we felt free to roam in the apartment. Getting there, getting in and out was easy, too. However, as the heating valves could not be turned off, it was quite hot sometimes. We found it very hot and not really clean, but the overall experience was good as the location is good and the hosts are lovely. To walk to the underground is ten minutes, and there are nice cafes and restaurant s around.
I had the best time in NYC! Everything was as described, the room was nice and the bathroom too. The room was really warm even with the heat turned off, you wouldn't even notice it's winter. The girls were super nice, I had a really good time talking to them. They always have tips for what to do or how to go somewhere. Gacie is the nicest dog I've ever met, really! The apartment is like 4 blocks from the nearest subway stop, but there's coffee shops on the way so you can have a nice breakfast. The neighborhood felt pretty safe, even at night. I would definitely stay with them again!
The apartment were really nice and their lovely dog were really nice with us. The location is cool and near downtown (you need to walk like 10min till the metro station tho.
Erica and Tayo were great! They were very welcoming and friendly. Any questions we had, they were pleased to answer. The house is also very spacious to New York standards and I didn’t feel cramped at all. The location made it for easy access to Manhattan night life and the neighborhood felt safe with good restaurants nearby. The only thing I wish was better was the weather, but that is not their fault haha. I will definitely have to come back for Spring or Summer and I will definitely be trying to stay at Erica and Tayo’s again!!
Erica and Tayo made us feel right at home in their charming East Harlem apartment. As much as we enjoyed our weekend in the city, we equally enjoyed spending time getting to know these ladies. They are friendly, intelligent, fun loving, interesting people. We were free to come and go into the apartment as we pleased and never had the impression that we were imposing on our hosts. If you are looking for a stay in the city that feels like a home away from home, we highly recommend Erica and Tayo as hosts.
Hello to all!
We stayed with Tayo and Erika (as well as Gracie, their lovely dog) during our NY trip and we hardly recommend this place!
Both are very friendly, love to talk and laugh and their suggestions are great (don't miss the Japanese restaurant and the amazing Bagel place!!)
Subway is only some blocks away and getting around is very easy.
We enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again with them.
Thanks again for everything!
Great place and location! both Erica and Tayo we super helpful with any questions about new york and also gave us tips on where to travel next. Their dog is so cute and friendly as well. No problem reccomending them and would stay again anytime!
Erica and Tayo are by far some of the friendliest people in NYC! We had a great time getting to know them, they were very welcoming! We also enjoyed getting to know Gracie, their dog!
Erica and Tayo (and Gracie!) were very friendly and accommodating. They gave us lots of tips and advice about NYC and answered any questions we had about the city. We enjoyed chatting with them for a little while when we returned in the evenings. We talked a bit about the AirBnB experience and they seem to truly enjoy hosting guests and meeting new people. Initially we felt a little awkward about displacing Erica from her own bedroom, but she made us feel more comfortable about it. No complaints about the hosts, the room, or the apartment!
The apartment is located in an interesting and diverse neighbourhood, and while it is a little far from the nearest subway station and central Manhattan, the location lends itself to better value than somewhere closer to the core.
